AMAZING!!! Bought a Citizen BL5594-59E at a watch pop-up in Haneda airport a couple of days ago, was running short on time so I told the salesperson I'd adjust the time. Spend several hours on the flight back home trying to set the time but failed miserably, even reset the watch. The manual is not easy to read. Anyways, thanks for the video, took me 30 seconds to set the time after watching this video. Now I can wear it. thanks!

Fabulous video, I have a Citizen perpetual calendar but a different model . Your instructions make it easier to set. Citizen don't seem to supply instruction books anymore you only get a warranty certificate which includes a website address for instructions. Many thanks 👍

So I was gifted my eco drive watch and have had it for about a decade and have never been able to get the date or the alarm to stop going off. I have been wearing it without the right date and found your video today. Though it took me a while to get mine to work - I swear this watch has a mind of it's own - the date is FINALLY right and so is the time. I am curious what time the alarm will be going off as it used to go off in the early mornings and after a year with me trying to fudge the date the alarm somehow switched to 8pm - who knows when it will go off now - hahaha. Anyway - thanks SO much for your video!!!!!!!! REALLY appreciate it! Mine is an eco drive with a perpetual calendar so it is a bit different but super grateful for your video. Happy Holidays!

Thank you So much, I love my Citizen. It is their exact one, BUT adjusting it is a job. Someone commented that if you leave the command dial at a certain spot. ? You can just pull out the crown and and just it like a regular watch ??? Respectfully.

How much sun time does it need? Does it charge with any light source?
I'm not sure on the specifics on charging time. I know my Skyhawk needs one full day in the sun to stay charged for months.

hmmmmmm not 100% sure. I'd assume there's a retention ring or screw holding the movement in place.
Great video but may be partially incorrect. The bit about setting the "year" is incorrect- according the Citizen docs page. That is actually setting the number of years offset from the last leap year. For example, setting it to the 2 position means the last leap year was 2 years ago. 2024 is a leap year so I set it to the 0 position. (this is all based on instruction available 2/22/24)

I bought a citizen calendrier a few weeks ago. At first I was losing a couple minutes a day. I let it sit in the sun for a day. It kept perfect time for the last weeks. Today I noticed it was ten minutes faster than my phone. Gonna keep a eye on it daily. If it keeps running fast I'm contacting Citizens customer service.
Can overcharging cause it to run fast?
No I don't think it can. Could be a defective movement but should be correcting itself with a radio signal. Contact citizen if need be!
I have a dummy question :D, not about the setting but how can I know what month it is by this watch? Or the month setting is just for helping to skip the 31st of some months?
I don't currently have the watch in my possession so I can't check but I assume it's strictly for accuracy of the date.

Thanks you helped me a lot however when I’m changing year on my eco drive it goes from 0 to 1 to 2 and then goes back to 9 and then again to 0. So I suppose on mine watch 3 years after the leap year must be 9🤷♂️ make sense(?) as after three years it’s a leap year again so it goes from 9 to 0 I’m not sure
hmmmmmmmmm that's interesting. Not sure exactly but you may be right.
I found another video where I was able to reset the watch, set everything to zero and now everything is exactly as you showed👌 so I set the year to 3 because 2023 is the third year after a leap year. I think it happened because my watch stopped working due to lack of exposure to sunlight. I'm on a sunny holidays now and when it started working again it needed to be calibrated or something. Eco drive is amazing 😀 cheers!

Hmmm it's possible you have a different movement in the inside or possibly defective?
Just got a eco drive for Christmas it's nothing like in the video cost $400.00 at Macy's was told it would hold the charge for 6 months (bullshit)goes dead overnight the only extra function is the date my watch is only 6 months old thinking of returning it.
Yeah it shouldn't be doing that at all, possibly a capacitor issue. Try to fully charge it in the sun for a day or two and see what it does.
I tried more than 20 times and put the watch in dust bin finally
Was the watch working at the time of trying changing settings? My was out of sunlight for some time and when I exposed to the light started working again and I was able to do all the changes
Thinking of getting eco drive? Just get quarts, much easier to deal with!

This does not help because the hands do not want to go to the 0-positions. I hate these watches. My last Citizen chronograph watch does not have these issues.
I did send my watch back into Citizens. Solar needed a recharge and a reset. This was at no charge thanks to the warranty. My next watch will not be Perpetual calendar watch. Too much hassle.

i have the version without 3 buttons. just has one and it's retarded difficult to set the god damn thing. it's pretty much a $600 vanity piece because i cant set the time correctly times 10 that for the god damn date. im honestly thinking about just throwing the god damn thing away
