Thanks to the music, whilst peeling the dragonfruit I felt like I was a detective sitting at a table of a large tower's top floor restaurant, looking out of the window at the night-time scenery of the city, and this was where I first met my partner (the dragonfruit) who had just died because of an unfortunate accident during a really easy mission... And now I was peeling him ready to eat...
Texture-wise, it is firmer and slightly crunchier than a mango. But taste-wise, it is very different as a mango has a sour taste but this fruit is just sweet.
@tsmith0312 : Thanks. Many have commented positively on the music in the past, which never fails to amaze me :). It was a piece taken from Apple iMovie software called "Piano Ballad"!
@Koreancraft, Hi, which one did you try? I don't like the one with red skin & white flesh, but the other two with red skin, red flesh and yellow skin, white flesh are great. Recently, I came across and bought the yellow skin fruit for the first time. It is the most expensive and the tastiest. It has a rare honey-like sweetness.
@qingmoments Thanks! I didn't know there were two different types. I work in Chinatown so I should walk around one day to find it. Is it in season now??
I've seen people eat dragon fruit when the flesh is really neon pink AND when the flesh is white. Is one color more ripe than the other? Does it taste different? Is there a 'right' color your dragon fruit should be? Just curious...loved the music :)
it tastes like a mixture between a kiwi, pear, and a strawberry with a high dose of water. its rare but you sometimes can find these at hannaford. i saw them there like once or twice.
@customdzn1, Hi, well, it is just another fruit, but just not as well known as apples and oranges. More info can be found at wikipedia by searching for Dragon Fruit (youtube couldn't accept my post if I include the wikipedia link!)
Kind of difficult to describe. There are two types, one is whitish, and this is pinkish/purplish. I only like this one, and I think you are going to like it. It is juicy, sweet, and easy (ie not particulary strong or offensive). Enjoy :)
@TheDrunkenMantis I buy them fresh from the market in Thailand everyday, have bought them in Indonesia, and Malaysia on holiday and still no taste. The white ones just make a good rice substitute for me.
@qingmoments I can't remember I think it wasn't a taste thing for me it was the inside being like a giant kiwi to me, but I'll have to try it again some time, because I'm hearing such good things!
@Mlle4de9 : Hi, the white flesh and dark pink flesh are two different varieties and taste different. I only like this type with dark pink flesh. It is nice and sweet :). Great music from Apple iMovie!
Sweet but not very the closer to the middle the juicer and sweeter it is it has a similar (A little bit harder) consistency as a papaya but with sugary seeds
11 dollars ? you sure ?! this red flesh dragon fruit sells about almost 2dollar in my country ! the white one cost cheaper like about 1 dollar or so.. is this really that rare in your country? lol

Wow thanks for the Netflix movie
This is a quality video. The music is great
Nice, it looks like a Cactus Pear. You peel those the same way also. You should have played stripper music as you did that instead of the piano. LOL
@DshaeAbel : Thanks. It is called "Piano Ballad" from Apple iMovie software.
It's like unboxing a limited edition DVD , for gardeners...
dragon fruit always puts me in a new york state of mind. As a kid in the bronx i remember picking wild pitaya off of light posts in abandon car parks.
do you know any whole foods markets or sprouts near you? they are stocked w/ those...
i think you should have picked better music but still this is a good video.
lol over 15 thousand views of someone peeling a fruit. this is awesome lol

Thanks for the video, I just bought dragond fruit today to try and I wasn't sure how to peel it.
I love theseee!
I think it tastes like a pear, but has the texture of a kiwi :)
I am dying to try one of these! They look so yummy!
What is the title of the song that's playing?
Great! I just got one and was not sure what to do with it. Seems easy to deal with.

I GOT THE DRAGONFRUIT...PEEL"N...BLUES! LOL That music!
@Lemurai If you get a good one, like not from a super market half way across the world, they are very good.
Isn't it great what nature has to offer. I mean how can something even come to be like that. Awesome!!
this is becoming the new generation of new fruit. abit like pomogrante
wondering what it tastes like too, about to go to the market to try and find out. Anything resembling a cactus pear? Mmm
it tastes like a mixture between a kiwi, pear, and a strawberry with a high dose of water.
its rare but you sometimes can find these at hannaford. i saw them there like once or twice.
that looks so good
@IpodvPsp If you let them ripen a bit more they turn purple. And have a sweeter flavor than when the flesh is white.
@aaliyah21215 : no idea of the season. In my country Singapore, they seem to be available all-year round.
@customdzn1, Hi, well, it is just another fruit, but just not as well known as apples and oranges. More info can be found at wikipedia by searching for Dragon Fruit (youtube couldn't accept my post if I include the wikipedia link!)
is it sweet? what does it taste like?
Lol, the music sure makes it sound that way! :-P
Dragonfruit is mighty vibrant.
Kind of difficult to describe. There are two types, one is whitish, and this is pinkish/purplish. I only like this one, and I think you are going to like it. It is juicy, sweet, and easy (ie not particulary strong or offensive). Enjoy :)
The music... Lol!
Someone said it has a slight bland taste, but I wanna try for myself. Probably hard to come by and expensive as well.
No mistake with that. It is purple indeed, in this video. But there are two other varieties that have white and yellow flesh.
Dragon fruits are grown in many countries like Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Australia, China, Israel, Japan, Hawaii etc. etc.
i had a red one in japan and a white one in florida, the white one tasted sweeter...especially when you eat it chilled :D
o.o the fruit of the dragons, looks tasty
@qingmoments is it kinda like kiwi in a sense that seeds also has flavor and texture
That actually looks really gratifying to peel, lol.
@TheDrunkenMantis I buy them fresh from the market in Thailand everyday, have bought them in Indonesia, and Malaysia on holiday and still no taste. The white ones just make a good rice substitute for me.
Well, taste can't be described in words that well. You just got to try it for yourself. It would be a sweet, juicy fruit!
I grow a patch of these, but I don't like eating them. I always give them away when they come :/
SUPER!!!
Thanks for your humour.....
I just bought 2 from Flushing NY (aka Chinatown Queens), and I can't wait to eat them!!!
i live in oxnard, california went to asian/mexican farmers market just bought 2 ! not cheap at all lol
@haddick90 The closest I ever got to tasting it was drinking a strawberry and dragon fruit Sobe, which isn't very close, it tasted watered down.
For new eaters u can make a really good smoothies out of this
@MISANTHROPY647 haha i promise, we have to try them out at work to know what we are selling tastes like.
Thanks. There is one in my hotel room and I wasn't sure how to tackle it.
Great that the video helps! Hope you have enjoyed the fruit!
@qingmoments
I can't remember I think it wasn't a taste thing for me it was the inside being like a giant kiwi to me, but I'll have to try it again some time, because I'm hearing such good things!

OMG ITS A PANDORA FRUIT!
I mean the supermarkets where you live in. I don't know of any sites. Even Amazon appears to be selling the seeds and plants, not the fruit.
Sweet but not very the closer to the middle the juicer and sweeter it is it has a similar (A little bit harder) consistency as a papaya but with sugary seeds
I think i fell in love with that fruit..
