I was in this renowned shithole in April 199O for a crime I did not even commit. I was sentenced to 2 years and was only about two weeks into my sentence when the riot erupted. I was then transferred to Winston Green in Birmingham, then some months later to Staffordshire prison to finish my sentence. I did the best part of 12 months out of a 2 year sentence. A big shout-out to all my ex pad mates !! 😅

I’ve always said don’t want to do time don’t commit the crime , I am interested to find out the reason why the prisoners had a riot .
It was because the screws was mistreating the prisoners 23 hour bang up.with no toilets or running water was a riot waiting to happen
Spent 3 days there from another jail, waste of time, the jail could have been taken back in the early days but the people in charge had no backbone
