#33 Fixing auxiliary air valve and idling problem Mercedes 107 450 SLC, D-JET

  • In this video I work on the 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC with engine M117 and Bosch D-jetronic fuel injection. The idling was very rough and uneven, but after taking the air valve apart and cleaning it, the engine ran much better.
    I don't claim this to be an instructional video. It's just me working on my own car and showing what I did.
    Many more videos to come as I go along with all my projects.

    Putting it in a pan of boiling water (120f /100c) for 8-10 mins. Try this next time, works without any damage to housing. Also works to dismatel seized older brake pistons.

    Nice work. I had the same idling problem with my 1971 350SL M116 engine and D-jetronic. I took the easier way to solve the problem and put a plastic plug with 8 mm hole in it inside the upper rubber hose. And now it idles steady 800 rpm. Of course this would cause a problem when trying to idle car in winter temps but I only use it summer time so it is no issue for me. Maybe I´ll try your way to fix it properly later.

    One question: I am renovating an MB D-jet 280SE 6 cyl, 1976, which had been idle for 20 years. It works very well, but it loses power on the way up, coming to a stop. I already changed, candles, cables, coil, exhaust and the problem persists. What can it be?

    • @Pexyz
      @Pexyz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching Marcos! Hard to say what the problem is on your car, but one idea in continuing the troubleshooting would be to connect a fuel pressure gauge to the feed line. That way you might be able to see if you lose pressure. Otherwise it may still be on the ignition side. /Peter

    • @marcosortolani3639
      @marcosortolani3639 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The idle pressure is 2 bar. It may be that on the way up the pressure drops. I will try to read the pressure gauge on the way up, to check if the pressure drops. Thanks!

    Was it rough under driving too while it had a rough idle? I have a w126 500sel with the same issue. Car runs and idle rough with no power until it heats up fully. Car also has no catalytic converter delete, can that cause the issue?

    • @Pexyz
