Great review! I still own & love my 2020 Ford Ranger XLT (non-Sport) 4x4! I've put on a ton of miles on mine, nearly 49K! NO issues, problems, check engine lights etc!! Truly built "Ford Tough"! I too love the great gas mileage of these trucks. I currently get about 22-24 MPG in "mixed" work/daily driving + have gotten as high as 27.5 or so MPG on a longer trip highway driving with the cruise control set at 70 MPH. I've literally towed nothing with my Ranger, lol. But the towing capacity is certainly there if I need it. I've done some mods to my Ford Ranger too. I love my Livernois Motorsports custom tune. I've currently "only" run their "towing" tune as I feel it's great for daily driving + most of the added power is focused in the low to midrange RPM band. Perfect for daily driving, passing, added pep etc. This tow tune adds around 60 horsepower with about 100 ft/lb of torque. Livernois also offers even higher horsepower "race" as well as E-30 tunes etc. I've only run 91 octane premium NO ethanol fuel in my Ranger since I bought it even stock. I've also added a Mountune Performance heavy-duty high performance intercooler to help alleviate the heatsoak issues of the Ford EcoBoost motors & so performance is consistent across the board. I also have a 3 inch AWE Tuning 0FG stainless steel exhaust system as well as a Mishimoto enclosed cold air intake kit with non-oiled synthetic cone filter to help the 2.3 liter motor to breath & enhance the other mods. I've also added iridium spark plugs pre-gapped & recommended for tuned 2.3 liter engines + also a Velossa Tech "ram air" scoop that pushes more air into my cold air intake (or stock Ford intake too). All these engine/power modifications & my MPG hasn't changed a bit! So I'm likely pushing around 330+ horsepower & around 400 ft/lbs of torque with like I said absolutely NO reliability issues either! I did add some new Hankook Dynapro AT-2 tires as the stock Bridgestone Dueler AT RH-S tires were worn. They were more a street terrain tire in my opinion, good the 1st year + crap after that. I've liked my "all terrain" severe snow rated Hankook Dynapro AT-2's quite well so far. Hope the tire wear is good on these. My Ranger is now a blast to drive, can get chirps in 2nd & 3rd gear sometimes, has phenomenal passing power + transmission shifting from the Ford 10r80 ten speed automatic transmission is also improved with less "skip-shifting" with the Livernois tuning. 6 foot tall guys have sat in my Ranger + said absolutely no headroom issues (one big complaint with the current Toyota Tacoma for taller folks). I have really no regrets on buying my Ford Ranger + look forward to 50K more miles! I'd certainly love a current model Ford F-150 with the potent 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6, but LONG time to being able to afford 1 of those, lol. In the meantime I'll keeping enjoying my current Ford Ranger XLT Super Cab 4x4. You're entirely right it's just an awesome, great versatile truck for a decent price (considering today's ultra high truck prices) with great fuel economy too boot + good towing power and above average engine power/performance considering most of the Ranger's midsize rivals pack an optional V6 engine. Hats off to Ford for bringing the Ranger back!!
Man I love your comment and appreciate the feedback! Sounds like I need to do that tune to mine eventually! I have yet to do a Highway run in my ranger without towing anything so I don’t know what my optimal Highway mpg is yet? If I could get 25mph Highway I’d be thrilled honestly. I do love the F150’s but when I was looking they were starting around $65k and I couldn’t justify twice the cost just for more tow capacity that I don’t need. The ranger is practical and makes sense for my situation and you’re as well. You can’t beat 20+mph with a 300hp truck imo, Ford did great. I’ve always been a ranger fan since my first one a 1998 4 banger was bulletproof! And then my 2001 hit 280k with ease. I hope the new ones are just as tough 💪🏻
@@SALTxTHExWOUND, yes you'll indeed love a Livernois tune! They're based out of Michigan + great thing is their tunes are all "50 State" legal so no issue with you having it on your Ranger even in California!
Merry (early) Christmas everyone! 🎄🎁 hope you all have a safe and happy holiday! Absolutely love my 2021 Ford Ranger XLT Sport after the first 22,000 miles! Can’t wait for more adventures with this truck 💪🏻😁
Very nice and informative vid bud. I have 2021 Ranger STX and everywhere I go, I got compliments about it, and you can tell people dont realize how economy and strong the ranger is.
Have a 2020 4WD Ranger with 20000k on it and I love it. It has handled all our crazy storms no problem. The only thing i have noticed is the Transmission fluid was very dark so i changed it again and I have noticed how much smoother the truck drives.
Those are awesome trucks as well! A guy I work with just bought one and let me check it out the other day, really neat! They’re still bigger than the old rangers were and tow up to 4,000 lbs he told me?! Awesome and congrats!
Merry Christmas you 2! Is killer gonna dress up any of the horses as elves or reindeer? If so can you post a short video please? Love horses. Own a taco personally, but I do love the Ranger, a coworker has that same color. He said the same thing about the torque on the engine. That's why he bought it over the Tacoma. I had the computer flashed on my Taco and that made a world of difference in the performance. Again, Merry Christmas to you and look forward to all your videos in 23.
Merry Christmas, hope you and your family have a great holiday! Yes we definitely did dress the horses up, if you follow me on IG I’ll post pictures here soon 😃 I honestly love the Taco as well, that was the true opponent on the ranger IMO, but prices are very high on them for the V6 to get the tow capacity. Definitely a great truck though! Thanks for watching!
I just want to point out the Harley Davidson blanket in the backseat next to the trash can is very appropriate 👌🏼😂 Have you been able to tow the horse trailer with this?
Hahaha yeah the Harley towel was either going in the trash or used as a bench cover 😂🤣 We haven’t towed the horses with it yet but definitely plan on it!
Nice truck, nice overview. Do you have a 4x2 or 4x4? I have a 2021 Lariat Ranger FX4 and I love it. I don’t get the mileage you get but I live in a mountainous state. I drove from Las Vegas NM to Albuquerque NM and got 27.5 mpg. I was astounded. That was definitely an outlier. I usually average about 17-19 in town and 22-24 on the highway. I am enjoying my Ranger.
Mine is a 4x2, Since upgrading tires I'm getting around 20-21mpg in the city commuting, not sure about highway just yet but I expect 24-25. 27.5 is amazing! You must have had the wind at your back the entire way! nice!
Thank you! I really like the maverick also but went with the ranger incase Heather and I ever need to haul the horses. The maverick gets around 40mpg too!!
Thanks for the honest review. I'll admit that I am surprised to hear how well it can tow. Also, I'll bet that if you put a tonneau cover on, you can eek that highway mpg over the 26 mph barrier
Yeah I’ve been thinking about getting one actually! I have a new video on this truck coming out this weekend btw. Hope to see you on track this year Andy!
Nice video, I had a 2020 just traded it in at 100k miles on a 2023 Ranger. The only issue I had and it was why I traded in was the transmission going out and needed to be rebuilt. Ford said it would take 5 weeks, 2 for the parts and 3 weeks to rebuild. Have you had shifting issues yet? You've probably noticed you can't jump in a drive or it feels like it's not in gear and sometimes it slams into gear 4-6th. Other than that I loved my Ranger. Hope they fix the tranny issue. There's a class action lawsuit so I'm sure they will.
Did you add a trailer brake? I was thinking about getting one for a second truck. Have a 2012 f150 would cost $75,000 to replace it. I really like the Ranger and can tow all my trailers.
My truck is wired for trailer brakes and has the 7 pin connector, I would just need to have the controller installed which I believe is plug and play, I was quoted $300 for the part and install. I just haven’t done it yet bc our 6x12 doesn’t have trailer brakes on it. I’ll probably end up doing it eventually though. Around 3,600 lbs is the most I’ve towed so far and was averaging around 12-14mpg which I feel is great, also you get 20+ mpg when just driving with nothing hooked up. I definitely recommend going and test driving one, they’re very peppy!
It's weird bc some people claim to be getting 25+ mpg but I've never gotten that, best I've ever gotten was 24mpg and that was doing 55-60 on a flat road
I’m really enjoying my 23’ Ranger Tremor, don’t have any complaints with it right off the lot, wifey is looking forward to her making it her daily starting October when I can make the financial mistake of getting a Raptor, Ranger Raptor that is 🤩 (too bad it doesn’t come in code orange tho..😢.) #RangerGang
I've run 91 and 87 both for a couple thousand miles each and I honestly never felt a difference at all. My fuel mileage was exactly the same, only thing that changed was how much I spent so I run 87 in her always since about 10k miles, I'm at 34k now
I don’t mean to be a sick either but it is equipped with a twin scroll turbo, also known as a bi-turbo. feel free to research before making comments in the future 👍🏻

is a lift necessary for the 265 70 17 tires? how is the ground clearance without a lift? I intend to do a lot of soft sand beach driving
No, it’ll fit with the stock height, I liked the level kit look but it sucked when towing, the truck would squat even with a 3,000 lb trailer
