You know Gab, one thing I've noticed about you and puzzle games is how you aren't negative towards yourself, not saying things like "ugh I should have know that its so obvious" or "man I'm stupid" when you use a hint or something. It's not anything big but the positivity really does show and affects viewers such as myself more than one might think. It's a great mindset to have and I thank you for it.
Not Gabs figuring out the abc numbers without even using the marker on the projector thing 😂 I hadn't even thought of that when I played Case 23! Good video glad to see you getting into it. Yeah sometimes you just have to click things one more time. The lore is quite dark so there's gonna be more blood and death. Looking forward to the next one!
@@MarieAkaMarizZ yeah you're supposed to first project the map, then follow the lines on the clue board and mark out abc. Then you project the numbers, the marked abc would still remain on the screen and line up with the right numbers. But I guess Gabs just found a more efficient way!
I hope this becomes a complete Rusty Lake / Second Maze marathon! They are my absolute favourite indie game series, just incredible what they can do with so little resources and so much abstraction. Though I would definitely recommend getting a crazy scribble journal and actually writing stuff down to make sense of the story, becoming Dale in real life. I did it and it is one of my most prized possessions, just crazy pages with notes about cubes, lakes, masks, detectives, hotels. The folks at Rusty Lake and Second Maze are great!
I'm so happy that Gab decided to finish Rusty lake franchise but I hope you won't forget Underground Blossom their newest game, the game is like a wrapped up story for Laura the blonde woman in Seasons and Case 23, the soundtracks are so good and they even had voiceover for characters now.
Okay, TBH I think last time I said Seasons was one of my favorite games of this series, I lied, it's CASE 23...I LOVE this game. So happy to see Gab play it! Gotta say Gab not realizing the map/numbers were a projector killed me lollll 😂Either way it worked! I love this game too because I always forget about the last chapter when I play it with my friends (who have never played it before) and I randomly remember part way through that section and start panicking and yelling "GO GO GO, YOU'RE GONNA DIE AHHH!" it's very funny lol. I'm so excited to see her play Rusty Lake Hotel!! It's going to be SOOO fun!!! Can't wait until she gets to Roots (my absolute favorite longer game) Also Harvey is the bird!! Love that little fella. Remember him! He comes back quite a bit in err...various forms 😉 Also also this is the game where you can put in that code to the TV from the Lake and get that achievement!
ALSO, HEADS UP The story from here on out is gonna get more abstract. While Dale’s on his own journey, there’s gonna be a lot of subtle info and key stuff that’ll hit harder if you play the full length games too. Make sure to do it in release order alongside Cube Escape. Or just do all of Cube Escape, THEN all the Rusty Lake games. Up to you.
It’s funny, I would have said the exact opposite. For me, the next four games (Case 23, The Mill, Birthday and Theater) are when everything starts to make sense. They’re my favorites among the Cube Escape series for that reason, because they finally start giving you enough information to start piecing the puzzle together. Compared to the vague hints in the earlier games, it feels like they’re practically spelling it out for you - what happened to the woman, how Dale got involved, what the deal with the lake is, etc. And then you get to Roots, where they really do spell it all out. 😉 (edit to add: Don’t play Roots first. It explains a lot, but you need the context of the previous games to appreciate it. It’s like watching a movie with a twist ending for the second time.)
@@DianeJudithRP Its definitely not the release order. But canonical order. Im unsure, but I think what she is doing is the best way to avoid unncessary abstract while still being the quarky horror that is Rusty Lake series.
The jump scare at 15:24 scared me to bad when I was a teenager that I threw my laptop. 😂 I expected a similar response from Gab, but I guess i’m just jumpy.
This series is just so good and I'm glad Gab is getting more into them. They are so weird and different from most puzzle games so you kinda have to adjust your brain when playing them. I love watching the series sprawl and evolve.
Rusty Lake has been my all-time favourite franchise and I am so glad to see one of my favourite youtubers playing it!! It has such a complex story, and I mean that in the best way possible And I love the "Why is he a crow?" because ooh boy is there a reason for that
I had my obsession with these games two years ago and I'm so happy you're playing through them lol there's a whole lore connecting everything and a short film that u can find on youtube actually!!
Omggg knowing now that the cabin was on an island in the middle of a lake (idk if i missed that the first time) makes so much sense, it bothered me seeing what appeared to be the same view outside on opposite sides of the cabin 😂
I LOVE that you are sticking with this series! Just enjoy the ride, things will simultaneously be wilder and make more sense later on. After the Cube Escapes and Rusty Lake, there's also the White Door and Underground Blossom in the series.
Root, Hotel, and Paradise can be saved for a rainy day as they stand alone. The Cube Escape Collection are the main story, followed directly by Cube Paradox, then Underground Blossom
Just wanted to leave a comment saying how much I appreciate your editor. They do the mightiest of fine work and I LOVE the subtle effects put in! Like every time you use your phone to take a picture the little shutter sound. Cheers editor San! 🥂💜
So glad you're starting to enjoy these more, I love this series and have played through all the games multiple times! I've been loving watching you play and see your thought process in solving all the puzzles. We think quite differently haha but we still reach the same results, which I think highlights the fun in these type of games. Also, weird pivot in the comment but you look great in a ponytail haha
I am actually kind of surprised it has taken her this long to play the Rusty Lake games. I initially found her channel through HOGs and this game series is the PERFECT connection so I figured it would be right up her alley. I know last episode she said the reason why it took her was because the game series is so big and it has a huge fandom. I can agree with that because this game series use to be referred to as the Cube Escape games because you were always finding black cubes. If you play the game now, there is so much lore and character connection that the cubes are kind of like an afterthought. Still I am SO happy she is playing these games
These games are some of my favorite games ever, I'm so excited you're getting into them!! Once you've played the ones you listed at the end consider playing The Past Within if you know anyone you think might also enjoy these games, it's the only 2 player game Rusty Lake has made so far and it's REALLY fun
I love the Case one specifically because it is when the lore starts clicking and everything starts falling into place. At the time of release, the fandom blew up and the only way I can connect it to is you know Game Theory and their FNAF series where it feels like MatPat analyzes FNAF and he uses everything and anything to analyze it. That is how Rusty Lake fandom was. I could talk till I am blue in tbe face about the different character, who is the shadow man is, the Vanderboom family, the residents of the Lake, the Lake itself, the different human characters, the movie... it is fun and involved
man all these puzzle games gab's been playing lately make me think of that old 1999 puzzle game Pandora's Box. it would definitely be so cool to watch her work her way through all the different types of puzzles in that game!
Aaaah, I love these games so much and it's so cool to watch someone play them for the first time, and also just connecting what I know from the later games ❤❤❤❤❤
