"The guy in the evo granny shifting..............." I see this sentence a lot, but don't understand what it means.... I get it's a statement from the fast and the furious but what is the joke behind it?
I must say this is easily one of my favorite racing videos on youtube, I get so sick of all these compilation videos of people ONLY winning glad you showed some footage of you losing as well!
I’ve had about 10 Subaru’s and when i buy my 11th i’ll keep it for ever. Main reason why I choose the Subaru it’s just because the sound of that boxer engine!
Very nice video. The cameraman was rather steady handed- nice job. I know the g-forces produced during acceleration are strong especially on the passenger. The sound was acceptable. Good job guys!
upbeatmantis86 I completely agree, despite being American, I love twisty roads. I find it much more interesting to watch videos of cars going through the forest down windy turns than these videos of straight line performance
around 3:10 Evo has to stand on the breaks a bit, shooting sparks :P I prefer the earlier evo's over the newer ones tho. But the boxer engines make sweet sounds, so I got an STi instead
my favorite car I think was the 2011 shelby, but there is definitely something to be said about buying a cheap car like the suby (in the grand scheme of things) and making it as fast as it is. great video, and sweet car
me and two other buddy's went to go pick up a fc in Colorado and he was in his 2013 sti and i took him on the turns, he took me in the straight aways lol
No I do not own a Foxbody stang, I'm actually more of a GM guy , But foxbodys,F body,G body, are legends for drag cars, A 9 second WRX is no joke, and probly crazy fast to ride in,I know Any car can be fast with the right ingredients, but American v8s rear wheel drive just rule the drag strip period. A built "natural aspirated" V8 with a single carb. can run a 10 second 1/4 mile with proper gears and traction. That was happening 30 years ago when the fastest car from Japan was a 280z, They can finally run 9s and 10s but only with big turbo boost or twin turbos. Run straight fuel injection or a carb. on a 4 cyl. or 6 and you be running 15 second 1/4 s like its 1985 again.
So Entirely true, and above all . Who can turn down that awesome feeling of slowing down for the off-ramp etc from over 130 and feeling like you're jogging at 70 MPH.... !!! Gah ! I love that !!!!
marc ginsberg F&F is straight line racing. people who are in Citys all they can do is HWY runs. move out into the Country an do some twisties. an post em up.
I'm almost done breaking in my STI build. It's Closed Deck, 2.75L stroker, Ported Polished 1mm over valves, 1000cc injectors, water/meth GT35R. Final tuning on Friday. I can't wait to see what kind of power it lays down.
killgoth2445 Sold my AGP stage 4 Srt4 and 03 bolt on Cobra when I got married. Now, I have a used, stock 04 Si... I die a little bit every time I hear the STI next door to me start up. I feel your pain...
THANK YOU! people dont realise that and just give the subi crap. I love mustangs alot too i guess you could say theyre both my fav cars along with the sti and it annoys me when people bash an sti
I watched this video few years ago and wish my subie is as fast as this. Today rewatching this I realized I have nearly the same power now lol. GTX3071r + meth + 25psi + BC 278/274 + built motor.
subaru engine are better quality than 4G engine . 700hp subaru still feel like a stock motor n sound and no vibration . what a good engine quality . not like evo engine ..700hp daily driving vibration like hell . not good
Shaun Boyd Those Mustangs were pretty badass for drag racing. Most videos always show wins, no losses, this video isn't trying to prove anything just showing some races, even the the ones where the Subie doesn't keep up. It's all good.
STIs are pretty descent cars, great for commuting, dirt roads, snow, your 20 acre cow pasture, but at the dragstrip American cars rule. And WOW! Probably a bit less than $20k in that stang and it inialated a built STI ? with how much $ invested after the purchase price? I know it takes some Big bucks to get an STI into the 11's in the 1/4 mile and then they still break all the time.lol so "Faggots" as you call them, can build a $5k small block for their 25 year old car, with gears, slicks and beat the shit out of a plastic turbo 4 banger that has $50k invested in the whole purchase? You sure your even 17 right now? Have your parents take you to the drag races this summer you will be amazed.
Shaun Boyd Clearly you own a fox body otherwise you wouldn't be as offended as you are. I owned an STi way back when, and had a bunch of STi friends, and not a single one of us had issues with anything "breaking", speaking of things breaking ...are you kidding me? So nothing goes wrong with the Ford's right? LOL. Just stop. Sir, $50k invested, as you said, in an STi, and it would be a fucking 8 second car. Get your math straight dude. STi's are $15-20k all day now, no one is talking about 2016 STi's, these are all 04-05 STi's in this video, maybe one 06-07. Regardless, anyone can buy any car for x amount of dollars, but when you're talking about $ invested in mods, nothing matters anymore. It comes back down to the quality of the original product. Can it handle the mods, and handle them well. Also, no, it does not take "big bucks" to get STi's into the 11 second range. That's funny. A good driver, good tires, a tune and bolt-on's get STI's into high 11's. We're talking $2-3k max. Get real, sir. That is NOT big bucks.....
ThatWhiteSTi haha ya, I have an Honda as my daily and Ram truck to pull my Trans Am (GM product). I don't own any Fords, but I used to. I'm not brand loyal, just depends on what I like at the time. Respect to all.
This is why street racing isn't fun anymore.. Keep it on a road with minimum to no traffic or keep it on the track, interstate racing in a city is just stupid, so many lives at stake just to try and prove if your car is fast, prove it on the track
Dunno if it was the STI or the EVO but I THINK in this case that sound is what is referred to as "afterfire". (A lot of people call it backfire, but backfire is different). Basically it happens when you run a little rich, and excess fuel goes into the exhaust pipe (which is hot) and ignites. It sounds like "popping" and little fireballs shoot out of the exhaust. Happens on my stage 2 WRX in between shifts when WOT. In this case it's their anti-lag setup. TH-cam/google "anti-lag" and you'll see.
the owner of the 3DX Evo is Chase Lautenbach. I'm good friends with him. he broke the world record for Worlds Fastest Evo. This was one of his first races. Its a 908AWHP now but he sold it in July.
There just is no true winner in the never ending battle between the STi and Evo. Both are incredible cars. I have an STi myself, but I'd still drive an Evo anyday.
MrKillersvtcobra thanks bro, I had Bassani X with Boral stingers for my 03 SVT. But I dont think is sounded quite as good as this one. I know the video kills it a bit, maybe i just dont remember it right.
As a subaru owner I agree with you EXCEPT, modding a subaru to this power level means also having a car that will have some sort of major or at least annoying minor problem every 10-15k miles. It's worth it though, perhaps more fun as a result in a weird way.
Yeah the evo driver wasn't the greatest but it was still on a stock turbo with e85. Even if the driver was good I think the Subaru would've been a little quicker, but I would hope so, considering the Subaru has way more time and money invested. I'm also skeptical about the evo's HP figures...even on e85 getting over 400whp on a stock turbo on a 9 is nigh impossible; unless we're talking crank hp, of course. Anyway, props to the Subaru owner for a cool car. Not a boxer fan but much respect. *thumbs up*
True, but we do without a little bit of power for the ability to still be able to handle the car around a track, people focus so much on power it's unreal 450whp is good, but it's still manageable. This is a highway where a 4 cylinder car is racing in a straight line from a rolling start, it's not that cars territory at all. I'm Chevy all day but I have a soft spot for Subaru's lol
We'd get along just fine. Got a built 2011 HD 2500 and a built 2002 wrx with a full sti swap from a 2004

Makes me miss the hell out of my 08. Had 640whp when i sold her. Now im building a 500whp GC8. Should be done end of summer. Subaru FTW.
How is the build now?
Blown up on his 9th set of ringlands
AWDsome08 why did you need 600+ in an sti?
Incepting why wouldnt you want 640 awhp
He never built that shit... liar
The guy in the evo granny shifting not double clutching like he should.. hes lucky that double shot of nos didn't blow the welds on the intake.

evo needs driver mod
even when he jumped the subie the subie pulled to him tho
I'm Chevy all day but I also have a soft spot for a Subaru that's why I own a 2019 WRX Too!
Jesus that STI is fucking fast!!!!
Wow glad to see some import guys here that respect American made muscle cars. True car enthusiasts here. Respect
its always straight line performance.. i guess Americans not interested in twisty roads.
upbeatmantis86 I completely agree, despite being American, I love twisty roads. I find it much more interesting to watch videos of cars going through the forest down windy turns than these videos of straight line performance

about fc I don't know
me and two other buddy's went to go pick up a fc in Colorado and he was in his 2013 sti and i took him on the turns, he took me in the straight aways lol
not sure about that. but thats why i said ''almost'' anything.

2013 sti is nothing compared to a 2003- 2007 sti... and must have been driver related.

that fox was no joke, im not a mustang fan but he deserves his props. he put in serious work
Termi's are amazing, and still compete with modern day muscle cars.
love the sti's but the evos are sexy af too
That guy in the foxbody is that cool uncle whose gotta show off what real power is hahaha

holy fucking shit i love subarus (and i drive a civic si :-( )
Hang in there bro, I owned my Civic EG, little 1.5L non-vtec for a year, saved everything I earned and finally got my subie :D

Bill Hetherington We've all been in the civic phase. It was well worth it to wait for my subie.
Evo 8s are my favorite evo. I think evos are better fitted for the lowered, street profile while the subies are always going to be the rally type.
I've always seen subie's as the better roar car to be honest, like Top Gear put it, you want an Evo for the track, but a subie to drive you home.
It's rare to find an Import/Muscle guy that respects the other. A true enthusiasts sees the beauty in both imports and muscle!
Challenging the world with only 450 hp ?

As a subaru owner I agree with you EXCEPT, modding a subaru to this power level means also having a car that will have some sort of major or at least annoying minor problem every 10-15k miles. Even if the engine is built perfectly and tuned professionally, you'll have SOME sort of leak, idle issue, suspension issue or tuning issue pop up. It's worth it though, perhaps more fun as a result in a weird way.
the deceleration on that sti turbo sounds sooo sick!

That 3Dx Evo is amazing!
Yeah the evo driver wasn't the greatest but it was still on a stock turbo with e85. True, but we do without a little bit of power for the ability to still be able to handle the car around a track, people focus so much on power it's unreal 450whp is good, but it's still manageable. This is a highway where a 4 cylinder car is racing in a straight line from a rolling start, it's not that cars territory at all.
