    I used my motorcycle to carry a truck battery back to my Toyota this morning, that motorcycle is the best, I really dig the Husqvarna 401.

    Good video man! happy to see so many new youtubers reviewing and modding the bike.
    Keep up the good work! Great prod quality.
    Would love to see some cosmetic modes as well.
    Im running a fuelx as well and having some troubles and saw quite a few people installing and getting engine lights, might be a good idea to do a review on that aswell
    Great work man!

    If you're as obsessed with the Svartpilen as I am... this is hands down the best channel on YT. I'm thinking I might get the 2023 instead of the 2024 just so that I can buy some of your mods. Many thanks, friend.

    Good video sir! I have the 200cc version. My plan is to connect the aux tank on the pannier to the main tank using fuel hose to supply fuel using external pump. Do you think this is viable? i will be putting 10L tanks on each sides. Planning to ride 850km in 1 go!

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a daring plan. You must be a skilled engineer. Your bike might end up looking like something from Mad Max though. I wish you luck!

      @@bikesonabudgetjapan If there's a will, there's a way. However, manually transferring the fuel remains the safest option.

    can someone explain to me what’s retro about it?

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Round headlight and dash. Spoke wheels and a slight resemblance to the 1955 silverpilen. But it's all in the eye of the beholder. I guess it's charm is it's hard to categorize.

  •  ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey pal, do you think this bike could be for long rides with one passenger?

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just my personal opinion but I don't think so. The passenger seat is quite small and there is no backrest. The grab handle is narrow so the best way to ride as a passenger is to have one hand on the grab handle and the other on the rider's shoulder. Or hug the rider tight.
      It's a fun bike but not the best for passengers. Hope that helps.

    Did you happen to see any other fuel cans with roto mounts that would have fit the rack after you did all that work? (1:05)
    That mod is going to be a necessary evil, isn’t it? I recently bought a ‘22 401 and was shocked when I filled up at the pump for less than $10. I burned 1/3 of it in 60 miles, so all told, the fuel economy ain’t bad. However… more fuel is better than not enough.
    Thanks so much for posting!

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the official rotopax mount will fit but check the dimensions. The tank I bought was a cheap rip off with a different mount to the official rotopax and that's why it didn't fit without a mod.

  • @nerychristian
    @nerychristian ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you actually keep fuel in that can? Seems dangerous. If you have a spill on the bike, that thing would spill all over and be a potential fire hazard.

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're probably right but that is true of any method for carrying extra fuel. I plan to just use it to carry fuel to a camping ground, take it off the bike and leave it at the campground until it's time to fill up and go home. Certainly don't plan on cruising the highways with it full.

    Great video, just a tip. Use your power drill with percussion only for a wall with a carbide drill bit. For steel and wood, you just only want to use the drill in "spin only" mode. Otherwise, you'll dull your bit way sooner.

    Thanks for the video. Where did you get the jerry can from? Was that Aliexpress as well? The link to the panniers doesn't include the jerry can, that I can see.

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do a search for rotopax, you will get a few tanks. As you saw in the video, the mounting bracket didn't fit perfectly without some drilling. I haven't tested the jerry can yet but will on the next ride.

    Great work & thanks for the vid! I’ve been looking at those brackets as support for panniers but real worried they look quite flimsy. If you go offroad and drop the bile, you reckon they would take the fall?

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure they would bend at the bottom. Pretty solid at the top though. Might even prevent some damage to the bike!

  • @MeerkatMitch
    @MeerkatMitch ปีที่แล้ว

    Well done! But it will be much better and more practical if you place the panniers horizontally. I have the same ones and use it with Rhinowalk soft bags 20+10+10.

      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the same panniers. Judging from my own there appears to be quite a lot of flex in the metal. I'd be worried about overloading them with a heavy load and have them break on me when I'm riding. How have you been getting on with yours? Have you filled the pannier tank fully with petrol yet? Have you found there's a lot of flex or does it hold just fine? Great video BTW.

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haven't given them a test yet. When I do, I'll put a video up. Weather and work have been getting in the way of riding lately.

      Fenrir. Strange name but highly recommended. Around 50 dollars US so much cheaper than the Husqvarna ones. Very happy with them.
