I finally pulled the trigger on this fly screen from our local e-commerce platform here in Malaysia. It comes almost exactly like yours did, except with clearer instructions in proper English. Everything fits perfectly with the small baggie of hardware. Just remember to use some thread lock & it’s good to go.
Seeing you install it DIY gave me the confidence for me to do the same. Thank you, good sir 😁

Thank you for posting! Mine arrived today from EBay with Chinese instructions, but good pictures. The little details like the gromits really help. I feel confident to fit mine now 🎉

    Great video.
I installed this exact screen about a month ago. The weather has been bad so I actually haven't had a chance to ride and try it out. I do like the looks of it. It does take a little while to install.

I bought the Ali option of this same fly screen. My experience with the instructions was also frustrating. It took wayyy too long to figure out the awkward orientation of the two plates. The wee baggie of hardware was, in my opinion, short a couple of rubber bushings.
After all of the frustrating fiddly bits, I think it looks good and makes a subtle difference in streamlining wind over the massive headlight.

Thanks for the comment. As with most things from China, there always seems to be a few missing bits and pieces. Adds to the fun 😊.

Hey, can you make a video of adding a USB charging socket to the Svart? One that is only powered when the bike is turned on. Would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you need a relay switch. I recommend something like a Daytona D-Unit which includes a relay switch and outputs for 2 or three devices. It's easy to install. Just connect the main wires to the battery and the ACC wire to any ignition-activated wire that carries the + current (it includes a splicer that just clips on), or just jam it into your fuse box. The D-Unit will then only turn on when the ignition is on. USB sockets are cheap and very easy to hook up if you have a D-Unit. There isn't much real estate on the Svart's handle bars so I have the Daytona slim-socket.
I'll be doing a video on the D-Unit for the Honda 500 X soon. Hope that helps a little.

@@bikesonabudgetjapan I have the daytona kit that just goes from battery and daisy chains off the front brake indicator switch by the lever to power it on with the key. It works well, however it's a little messy around the brake lever with the wires so eventually I want to rewire it and put a connector on to have it connect to one of the aux power connectors that is under the little cover on the right side of the bike under the fuel tank.

I had the Daytona D Unit but I discovered the one from Kaedear. (It's a small company in Yokohama). Better and cheaper than Daytona.

@@bikesonabudgetjapan Looked it up, I have to agree it's nice it doesn't have the big box mid way in the wiring as well. This one would be even easier to connect to an aux connector than the daytona one.

The rubber spacers included are for mounting the flyscreen. Ne need to buy any separate screws.

Sounds like you were luckier than me. The rubber grommets I recieved were far too small. It's hit and miss with AliExpress.

Hi did you notice any difference at all after installing? I was going to get the Puig windscreen but I found it ruined the look of the bike too much. So I just ordered this one on Aliexpress instead for $35. Any percentage difference at all when riding at speed?

    • @bikesonabudgetjapan
      @bikesonabudgetjapan  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Not really. It's mainly for looks I think.

Have you tried the toll road with the windscreen? I'm curious if it reduces air on your chest at higher speeds maybe about 70kmph.

Not yet but I'm not expecting much. Might hit the highway this Sunday.

other than aesthetics, I don't think it will do much if any to wind resistance on the rider
