    - Apple Watch Series 5: amzn.to/2xkteUQ
    - Honor Magic Watch 2: amzn.to/3adR6rt
    - Skagen Falster 3: amzn.to/2xW2ji9
    - Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2: amzn.to/2Uy6U1E
    And for kicks and giggles
    - Apple Watch Series 4: amzn.to/2QGbpq2
    I've said repeatedly: The Apple Watch has been my smartwatch of choice since Series 3. The first two generations were a mess of too many software promises for hardware that couldn't deliver. And the latest ones may not be perfect, but they get a lot of things right.
    Their main problem is that none are cheap, the entry-level models don’t age well given the materials, and well, they only work with an iPhone. Cupertino is clearly playing its cards to lock you in, as I doubt people update their watch as quick as they do their phone.
    So what if wanted to buy a good alternative that won't lock you in, and still deliver the key essentials that make an Apple Watch special, or even make it look bad once you place them head to head. I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow, and these are our top pics for best Apple Watch alternatives.

      I just got mine a couple of days ago, still haven’t charged it since I bought it. My Garmin vivo3 can do 8 days on a push, but usually 5 if i do something with it.
      After trying out all the smart watch platforms, I think Huawei has got it right. The other smart watches try too hard to be a smart phone, while really I just need a companion for my phone. And I don’t want another thing to charge everyday. You can go on a one week trip and leave your charger at home no worries.

      @@sloppynyuszi I'm debating getting this watch but can't find any info on alarms. Does it vibrate if you set wake up alarms? The main reason I had an apple watch was because I'm hard of hearing and need something besides a phone alarm to help me wake up without waking up the whole house.

      @@sloppynyuszi You hit the nail on the head. I used to wear a normal watch all the time. Only taking it off to go to the shower. I can do that with this watch. I'm very happy with my Garmin Vivomove HR. With the screen off, it looks like a classy analogue watch.

Being a man “of a certain age” it’s too damned small and I can’t read it so I was always looking longingly at the huge radar scope-like screens on Google’s offerings but was afraid of giving up key Apple functionality. Don't know how so much people are complaining about WearOS battery life.
    I just got a 4th generation Fossil watch (so, not even the most recent ones), and I easily get two days, closer to three.
    The main culprit in battery life is "Raise to wake", but even with it, while getting a lot of notifications during the day, I go to bed at 11pm with 50% left, being unplugged since 7am.
    Without Raise to Wake, I go to bed with around 65%. That's plenty of juice left !

    I own an Apple Watch Series 5, and honestly the battery life isn’t an issue. Sure it doesn’t last for days, but with the always on display turned off I can easily get more than a full day on the watch. Sometimes two! The only thing is you have to remember to turn it off overnight if you want a second day - a lot of the battery will drain overnight and you will need to charge it in the morning. Considering I don’t care about sleep tracking that is a very small price to pay.

      Chris Liu Yes but only if use it as a watch and not with always on display. Otherwise with heartbeat sensor on, sleep tracking and using GPS frequently, the battery will last about 10 days which is still very very good. I loved my GTR but wanted to be able to make and receive phone calls so I switched for the Galaxy active 2 which I also love but now, I have to recharge more often which is not a big deal because I recharge it every morning during breakfast and most of the time, battery is still around 70% and it takes only 32 minutes to get 100%. As for the Honor or GT2 they also support phone calls on the larger models. Thing is there are very few apps compared to the Samsung-Tizen eco-system. But they are beautiful watches and have very good autonomy.

    Moving to an iPhone due to most of the Android smartwatches being terrible. my favourite is an LG G-Watch (W100) modded with WearOS 2. its not speedy but its durable AF and has decent enough battery for me. but I have got an older Apple Watch series 1 that can do well over a day. including sleep tracking. its impressive makes me wonder why the series 5 are not that good in your experence. Would love a S5 for the AOD that my G-Watch has (without some fancy 1hz thing and still has great battery)

    I loved my old Honor 5 Cellphone, and replaced it with a Mate 10 Pro (which is my current phone). My Mate 10 Pro hasn't slowed down at all even after two years of use. The only thing I've had to do is replace the worn out battery. Which was moderately hard to swap (made easier with a iFixit toolkit FYI).
    Based on my personal experience with using Huawei products. The Honor Magic Watch 2 looks like the best combination of features and battery life. I just ordered myself a Honor Magic Watch 2 to replace my falling apart Pebble 2 HR, which just had two of it's buttons disintegrate. I managed to get a long lifespan out of it considering the abuse I put it though. One of the best features I loved about it was its killer battery life. This is one feature that Huawei absolutely nailed IMHO to make their product stand out from all the other offerings on the market.
    I'll miss the ability to directly reply to text messages with canned or voice messages like I could do on my Pebble 2 HR. But other than that one negative, the Magic Watch 2 looks like a killer deal for it's asking price!

    I think Samsung has a much better watch face collection than iOS and I've found plenty with all kinds of informative complications that rival what you liked in the apple watch. Not sure why that was an issue, but maybe it had to do with the Watch Active 2 because I have the Galaxy Watch and so far have had zero issues with that. Either way, love your reviews.

    You should also consider Amazfit watches since you included the Honor. Both are closed proprietary platforms, but it's worth a comparison.
    That said, I'll wait for the MI Watch global version to see what that brings to the table because it has a square display and let's face it, it is better in terms of content you get plus there's their experience from Amazfit and MI Bands as well as the hardware (MI Band 4 being great) that could really resurrect Wear OS

    I'd pick the Galaxy Watch Active 2 any day. I have actually.
    I never use sleep tracking, and even with Always-on display turned on, as well as HRM, I regularly get 3 days of battery life.
    This depends on the watch face I'm using of course, but if it's a dark and well optimized one, the watch always lasts me well over 2 full days, often 3 full days.
    You haven't mentioned there are steel variants of the Galaxy Watch Active 2, that's the one I have and I've been using it for months now... not a single scratch on it, even though it's had many close encounters with random wall edges, door knobs and such...
    Loving the Tizen OS, and I'd strongly disagree when you say that it's trying to be a smartphone on your wrist.
    IMO it hits the perfect balance between notifying me about everything I need, without trying to force me to deal with it over a watch if it's inconvenient, or requires a long reply. Options like "Show on phone" pop up exactly when needed, otherwise it's always possible to reply via preset quick responses, emojis etc. in a few seconds.
    Also, I get you've had inconsistent results with S Health, heard this from some other people as well, but honestly I've had 0 issues with S Health - heart rate monitor, calories burned, running info, step counter, they all work great.
    The only place I've noticed some inconsistencies was with specific exercise tracking, like dumbbell exercises, bench and similar. It would often skip a few reps, which is quite a deal breaker, so I stopped using it for that.
    Luckily there's an option called "Other workout" which tracks all the info I need to get through all of my exercises, and track my results.

      I am serious about fitness. I've had 3 Garmins, and now a Fenix 5 Plus. It's great for running, but really disappointing when I run in parks under trees and it fumbles to lock the satellites, while the Apple Watch doesn't. Same with calorie calculations in anything that's not running. It'll lag behind for 10 minutes sometimes and then pick up. I've had 60 min weight train sessions where it assumes I only burned 90 calories, which is what the body burns sleeping in an hour 🤣. It's not always so I thought it was an issue with my unit, replaced it, same problem. I also have friends with the same issues. Again, would never recommend the first two Apple Watches, but Series 3 and later really made me question the $1000 my Fenix Sapphire cost. What can I say, competition does catch up. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Ever since Fitbit bought Pebble I gave up on them. They’re like the Blackberry of the 2000s where you either got Wi-Fi or Bluetooth but not both. I can’t believe Fitbit has got the never to release a fitness watch without a GPS antenna, which was the case with the first Versa unless you paid for a special edition. Ridiculous. That and the fact that my Fitbit Charge was horribly inaccurate in calorie calculations. Trust me, I’ve tried them all. I’ve only included the ones worth mentioning here.

    • @Tirelirelou
      @Tirelirelou 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pocketnow Completely agree with you. I have tried 3 different Fitbit Versa 2 and and returned all 3 because GPS had problems acquiring or often lost GPS signal even after firmware updates, it counted steps while I was shaking my hand while being seated, no continuous heartbeat, and never recorded a sleep duration longer than 4 hours out of the 6 to 8 hours recorded by my other watch (Amazfit GTR with Sleep as Android software).

    • @aperfectzen
      @aperfectzen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tirelirelou that's pretty crazy. My Fitbit does all if it pretty accurate. I have even wore and Apple watch on one hand and a versa 2 on the other. At the end of the day the Apple watch had about 200 more steps out of about 12k. And my heart rate sensor has never "not worked". Even when I am working out. And since it doesn't have built in GPS.....it uses connected GPS and my phone is pretty good with that. Neither versa has ever had GPS... Which is my biggest complaint

    • @Tirelirelou
      @Tirelirelou 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Contreras Strange... The fitness program of my phone (Huawei P30 Pro) always recorded more steps than my 3 Versa 2s. But if I shook the arm on which I usually wear my watches (left hand) like for preparing drinks , my Versas counted a step with each movements even while standing still. Maybe a bad batch but one was bought at Costco and the two others were bought at two different Bestbuy stores.
