Have you experienced any troubles with the Ps5 slim? Read a ton of people getting not only the controller update but getting errors while gaming, crashes, green screen, etc and now I'm worried.

Back then, the big reason I sold my PS4 phat for a slim was the big power consumption difference. If I'm not mistaken, the Ps5 Slim and Phat only have a 5W difference.
Both the latest CF1200 fat PS5 and the new Slim version have the same chip and VRam so power consumption should be the same. The 2020 and 2021 models though have bigger chips requiring more power drain.
I've watch a video test with a wattage meter of the 2 consoles at the same time. On idle the slim sits on 49.6W while the Phat(CFI-1200) is 53.5w. In gaming (Astro Playroom) Slim's max was 214W then the Phat was 220W. He did say the subtle difference will have a margin of error, so yeah, it's still identical.@@Youtubax
@@user-xo8yc5jd4w even if you compare two slim or two fat PS5s, there's going to be a few watts difference because no two chips are made equal, and there's a thing called the Silicon Lottery.

I hope they do some custom covers with vents built in similar to the larger version.
The feet for the horizontal position are not an issue with someone finally pointing out the holes they sit in which is a nice touch.
So only two complaints no vents around the edges like the large version and the vertical stand should have come free in the box or be at least half the price it currently is.

The original PS5 covers have no vents... You are thinking about the ones from Dbrand and it only had one where the fan is on the system.

How is yours doing fan wise. I have gotten two ps5 slim. I returned the first one for a replacement and just feel the fan is loud. The first one. Not sure if the fan was damaged but it sounded annoyingly loud. My second one also sounds somewhat loud, a lot less than the first but still loud

I’m thinking about to get my first PS and I really think I’m going to get a slim digital version, I’m constantly moving and I have no place to storage the disc cover; 3 years ago I got a switch and a bunch of game with the cover, I unfortunately throw away all the covers bc they took a lot of space, now I only have the game card, so for the ps5 I’ll get only digital games, and I can always buy a disk drive later if I decide where to live permanently.

I've just got a ps5 slim w disc tray and during the first 2 minutes of starting it up, my screen froze as well. Glad it's not just me that had this issue starting the updates. Thanks this was helpful.

@@raiyaanrahman2136 yep ofc!slim and fat ps5 are same in performance but slim ps5 is a lot more compact and has i think around 150 gb more space so 2 more games than the ps5 fat.but for the slim you gotta spend 30$ more for the stand if you want to stand it vertically…

That disc drive should be pre installed when u buy the disc version.
It makes only sence when your old one is Broken and u buy a new one to install.

My set up was hell, because the DNS was getting lost, so I had to set it up manually to finally after 12hrs, be able to download Spiderman 2. Took longer to download the game than it took to finish 😕😕😕 ohh and I also had like a screen issue when it was showing the wallpaper but nothing was happening, so after 15 minutes I turned it off and on, and that fixed it.

Compare new slim to older model in noise and temps.
My 1st cosole did the exact same thing. Freezing after updating the dualsense controller. Then after a few days passed all my games kept crashing! Did everything I can from clearing the cache to rebuilding the system. Nothing fixed it. So I returned the system and ordered a new 1. Im setting it up the new system right now as I type this. This system has already frooze just like the last, once updating the controller. So I had turn it off manually. This sucks!
Fingers crossed that is doesn't start crashing games or else the controller update is whats causing it. Sony needs to fix this.

I recently bought a PS5 Slim and it arrive today. But my main problems was when you update the controller, it'll go to a background screen. So, you'll have to restart the console. But overall, it works pretty good. But the fan noise will take some time to get used to.
What does updating a controller mean
@ratchet2007 I meant, when I first started setting up my PS5. The controller needed an update. So, I accepted the update. And it got stuck on the main screen and wouldn't do anything until I restarted the console. Now it works fine, though. I've seen others have these issues as well.

I didn't get the option to update the disc drive and now I'm debating on restarting the whole system but that initial update took me hours because of our location and the internet speed 🤦♀️
