So if you're still wondering which to buy even though it's been like months now, lemme help you; hopefully. If you're looking for a brand new console right now, i suggest the Ps5 Slim. Why? Because it is the only Ps5 you would easily find in the market right now and also better for future customization. If you're looking for a used Ps5, then I suggest the Ps5 Phat. Why? Because it would be cheaper than a used Ps5 Slim because it would be still new. Here are the Slim's pros and cons. Pros: Smaller (More Compact) 1tb Removable Disc-drive 4 plates (Just for design) Cons: Slightly hotter Slightly more noisy Large opening at the top (Bad because dusts can come in easily) Glossy Design (can be remove though) Also, I wouldn't count the more usb-c ports because as of right now; some people still use the regular usb-a port to use their headphones. I wouldn't recommend just using the back usb-a port because it could get pretty hot back there, so to solve this; just buy a usb-hub. Also, the slightly hotter/noisy isn't that bad. It's only slightly, not more or much. (Correct me if I commented something wrong! I would only take the real ones, not the fake ones.)
Thank you so much for that comparison. A good thing to look for when identifying what each console looks like because the vendor and their description can be misleading, so your take helps me identify scammers. Much appreciated!
Trade in my PS4 yesterday but was told that trade in was only for the original. Yesterday was also the launch of the PS5 slim so I trade my PS4 for games and accessories, and bought the PS5 slim. Imo PS5 slim is still pretty heavy but I like the slim design.
I gotta say, my launch ps5 feels so much more premium compared to this one.. its always the case with all gen playstations.. look at the launch ps3 compared to the revisions, it was soooo much better and made better too
The original ps3 and ps4 all died much faster compared to their later counterparts, the slim ps3 is what you would most see still working today, same for ps4.
If I hadn't of secured a day 1 purchase then maybe I'd consider but the OG will do until pro drops otherwise pointless to jump if already own the original.
My ps5 currently has an overheating issues on some games. It is also the original model. Tomorrow I’m trading it in and switching to this. Pretty excited.
Got PS5 on black friday discount for 430 Euros comparing to Slim that currently goes for 550 Euros. I cannot figure out why not to use the extra 120 Euros for one year subscription in Sony Plus or upgrade with 1 terra SSD. Also I am a bit concerned about heating issues with slim version since it is using the exact same chip as the OG PS5. What they did to actually justify the size decrease without compromising the thermal ? I guess time will tell...
I got a slim because I didn't have a ps5 yet. No complaints. The smaller size takes up less space, and I have a 5tb external SSD (WD Black P10) that fits nicely underneath of the PS5 as it lays horizontally. I prefer the horizontal layout because I heard that the older model had some issues with the liquid metal thermals, plus the kids can't tip it over very easily.
Hey this is exactly what i was waiting for before upgrading, i got my ps5 slim bundle 3 days ago and it looks amazing and feels amazing. Im happy i waited for the smaller version with more storage.
I own both consoles, maybe I can help you, unless you bought one already. Let's start first, specs. Both have the same hardware, that means they have the same graphics, resolution, performance, load speeds and basically everything. No upgraded console from both systems, one is just like the other one. Storage - Mainly the slim has a extra 175gb of free space, here is the whole storage in total. 1tb - Slim 825gb - Phat Size and design - Again, the Slim takes the size since it's smaller while design is just preference. I'll come back to this section later. Cooling System - Both have the same APU chip ( 6nm chip) which means both consoles would produce the same heat, only thing... You're putting that same heat in a smaller case with smaller heat dissipation materials, plus with smaller fan, heatsink and airflow? That's clearly a sign of problem with smaller size (not a problem though if the Slim's APU chip is more efficient but it isn't) Phat takes the category here. Watch @Mc Kuc, he will explain the whole noise thing. Material Build Quality - This is the 2nd part of the design category, the Phat takes this because Gloss gets ruined easily. Wouldn't want to see your console looking like it had been sitting there for ages. Stand - Do I really need to explain this? The Slim gives you a cheap plastic little legs that is unstable and is only for horizontal ( You have to pay 30$ if you want the vertical stand but that thing is really unstable too as in was proven by Austin Evans.) The Phat has a free multipurpose stand and is stable too. Best at keeping dusts away - Phat because it has these vent grills from the top which prevents dust from coming through while the Slim doesn't. Electricity uses - Both since they have the same 6 nm chip, which means same power would be use. In short, buy whatever is cheaper. Hope I can help you👍
No. PS5 Slim has way better internals than the OG PS5, means better cooling and better CPU, GPU, RAM and better and newer SSD. Slim never heats up, so PlayStation 5 Slim can adjust its GPU / CPU speed and it it overheats it throttles itself. The coolest temperature of PS5 OG is the hottest temperature of PS5 Slim. So PS5 OG already throttles and underclocks itself to stay cool. Meanwhile PS5 can play games for way longer periods of times at full speed before it heats up even further meaning more stable FPS
I guess the only difference are the shape and the size. Both models are great to be sure. I got the original standard edition and so far it really immerse my gameplay.
4:02 If you can't run installed games directly from that NVMe drive I'm wondering if the drive is incompatible with the new slim model. Even if you swapped out that Fire Cuda drive from a PS5 (2020) it potentially might not have the same functionality in the Slim. I'm just suggesting as someone who has seen first hand how console revisions can take steps backwards to cut costs.
I have seen and used the original ps5, my cousin has one and I sometimes use it whenever I’m over. Right now I am currently debating on buying a PS5, the size is not my biggest concern but does the OG and slim have the same performance? So if you're still wondering which to buy even though it's been like months now, lemme help you; hopefully.
If you're looking for a brand new console right now, i suggest the Ps5 Slim. Why? Because it is the only Ps5 you would easily find in the market right now and also better for future customization. If you're looking for a used Ps5, then I suggest the Ps5 Phat. Why? Because it would be cheaper than a used Ps5 Slim because it would be still new.
Here are the Slim's pros and cons.
Pros:
Smaller (More Compact)
1tb
Removable Disc-drive
4 plates (Just for design)
Cons:
Slightly hotter
Slightly more noisy
Large opening at the top (Bad because dusts can come in easily)
Glossy Design (can be remove though)
Also, I wouldn't count the more usb-c ports because as of right now; some people still use the regular usb-a port to use their headphones.
Great video! Thank you!
Do you have any observations on temperatures during gaming? Is it hotter than OG PS5?
Have you learned anything about the difference in temp regulation?
Trade in my PS4 yesterday but was told that trade in was only for the original. Yesterday was also the launch of the PS5 slim so I trade my PS4 for games and accessories, and bought the PS5 slim. Imo PS5 slim is still pretty heavy but I like the slim design.
Hi, where did you trade in?
I gotta say, my launch ps5 feels so much more premium compared to this one.. its always the case with all gen playstations.. look at the launch ps3 compared to the revisions, it was soooo much better and made better too
Ya but bigger and bulky.
@@DragonPupEclipsenot rlly slim has 125 more gb so the slim is a better choice if you don’t have a ps5
The original ps3 and ps4 all died much faster compared to their later counterparts, the slim ps3 is what you would most see still working today, same for ps4.
Thank you for not being fake and explaining everything into detail the way I needed
120 euros for one year ps plus is CRAZY
@@Noviath-kw7dg They're speaking of the premium version I believe. Three versions of PS Plus
Well explained 👏🏽 👏🏽. Will subscribe!
You didn't 😂
Upgrade??? There’s no upgrade. PS5 Pro next year will be the upgrade.
Its not coming out this year 💀
@@MandMandPringlesyes it did😂😂😂😂
I got my PS5 a few months before the Slim came out, it runs fine and I see no point in myself upgrading to a Slim which I wasn’t planning to.
slim is awesome. got it for christmas and i love the look of it
is it louder than the ps5 and does it get hot easy?
Thanks so much for the information, grate video 👍
Upgrade for what
- Smaller
- Liter
- Better Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 6)
- 175GB extra HD space
- One of the USB-A ports upgraded to USB-C
Thanks a lot for the information and sharing. How is the heating, fan sound compared to ps5 org
According to the PlayStation form the PS5 slim has a better cooling system compared to the PS5 org
I had a ps4 pro for 4 years and finally i bought the og ps5 because it had 24 months ps plus premium. Was it worth it?
I'm in love with my new slim.
Hope you use protection
U do? Vs og
Never had original cus I'm not a fan of big size. That's why I bought a slim.@@skorpyo331
Great video, thanks mate!
This video answers all my questions regarding the ps5 slim. Thanks for this video
Glad I could help

WD-Black
Just ordered a PS5! Excited because this is my first gaming system in over 12-years
My PS5 keeps overheating and I’ve taken it apart and cleaned it out, not sure what to do so thinking of upgrading just cause of that
Literally why I’m here
Could be a liquid metal issue
most likely Liquid Metal, if you didn’t buy a new console yet I suggest looking into that first
I just cleaned mine today,so far it's not heating up. I did a thorough cleaning.
I am having PS3 slim is it good to upgrade to PS5 slim I don’t want to wait for PS5 Pro
Yes
@@S-1_24-25 thankyou.....will my current playstation ps subscription work on ps 5
@@PankajKumar-6369 yes that’s if you’re going to be signing into the same PlayStation account
There's no colored panels available for purchase right now. Do you think they will make them?
they have
Just a question, as somebody who doesn’t own a ps5 what do yall recommend
I own both consoles, maybe I can help you, unless you bought one already.
Let's start first, specs. Both have the same hardware, that means they have the same graphics, resolution, performance, load speeds and basically everything. No upgraded console from both systems, one is just like the other one.
Storage - Mainly the slim has a extra 175gb of free space, here is the whole storage in total.
1tb - Slim
825gb - Phat
Size and design - Again, the Slim takes the size since it's smaller while design is just preference.
Hope I can help you👍
Is the gaming performance / Fps same on ps5 slim as in the OG ps5?
Yes
Excellent comparison, thanks!
I’ll end up getting the og version of it
Can no more or did you before they got sold?
Thanks' a nice and informative look at both PS5's standard and slim alike.
Who’s hero in 2024/2025
Me
Right before them tarrifs hit😭
how is the thermal in slim is it improved
What should I upgrade to? From ps4 slim to ps5 or from ps4 slim to ps5 slim?
I don't hate the slim, but it's not an improvement on the 1200 series ps5
My ps5 1200 keeps me me from internet but I can talk in party like what is going on???
I guess the only difference are the shape and the size. Both models are great to be sure. I got the original standard edition and so far it really immerse my gameplay.
So really gaming wise the only real only upgrade for me is the better WiFi connection? N even then does it matter even tho I use a lan cable?
I travel a lot and was looking into the slim. Would it even be worth grabbing this since the size isn't dramatically smaller?
Is the power consumption less in the new version?
it’s about the same and i seen another video it’s actually a bit more
Nice to know it has better wifi. My OG launch day PS5 unfortunately went to Playstation heaven recently so I'm thinking of picking this up.
Man love your work
Keep going
God bless you❤
4:02 If you can't run installed games directly from that NVMe drive I'm wondering if the drive is incompatible with the new slim model. Even if you swapped out that Fire Cuda drive from a PS5 (2020) it potentially might not have the same functionality in the Slim. I'm just suggesting as someone who has seen first hand how console revisions can take steps backwards to cut costs.
Perfect video! Thank you very much. Liked and subscribed.
Glad you liked it
I have seen and used the original ps5, my cousin has one and I sometimes use it whenever I’m over. Right now I am currently debating on buying a PS5, the size is not my biggest concern but does the OG and slim have the same performance? Like basically is the slim better when it comes to performance compared to the OG?
The slim has the same performance stats the only difference is the size and the slim had a 1 TB storage instead of 825 GB
I just bought the Playstation 5 slim digital for more storage and Spider-Man 2. The extra features and easier access to the inside is awesome.
No I like em bigger. Personal preference
Freak of nature 😛😜
Great video. thank you❤
Does the pulse 3d header work work with the slim model cause it doesn’t have a regular usb port for the dongle
I got the PS5 Slim last week, enjoying very much!
Do you need to re-download every disc game after you move the disc drive?
No as that's in the hard drive not the disc drive lol
@@w0lf9009 ok thank you
So it’s better for me to buy the slim instead of the digital deluxe version because it’s smaller and comes with a game?
I think you might have to reformat the drive for the drive to work properly
sadly yes. ugh
