If you live in a flat area and never ride hills... buy your fancy cassette and switch to a 1by crank ... more weight savings as a 2by with full Durace.
Good comparison. I updated my Ultegra Di2 with following components: - Dura Ace Casette 86gr - Dura Ace Chain 10gr - Dura Ace Brake callipers 48gr. - Dura Ace Brake clamps (Titanium) 12gr. In summ. i saved 156gr. and spend around 580€. My bike weight reduced around 2%. Unfortunately I can’t feel any difference 😅
If losing 250grams is that important, have a dump pre ride. Even having a 250ml piss saves you that much. Guaranteed weight loss and doesn’t cost a cent.
ideally buy most of the Ultegra groupset but get an Edco 12s monoblock cassette and a Cybrei or Elilee crankset. That will bring you to below the weight of the full DA groupset for just a little more than the price of the full Ultegra groupset. You lose a tad in shifting quality with the Edco cassette but it's massively offset by the weight and cost saving over DA.
My setup is Ultegra, but chain being KMC, cassette from Prestacycle, brake rotors from Galfer and cranks from Rotor, all of them lighter. As a sidenote, the XTR brake rotors are lighter than the Dura Ace.
It seems weight isn't the the point of difference, rather than speed and accuracy of shifting. And that's why Shimano made their group set not entirely wireless. Because of the speed of transferring signal. They said like they beat up any Sram gs in this. So they say) But to be honest if you aren't a professional rider you will be pretty much perfect with 105 Di2)) Or Sram if you prefer frames without an option of installing Di2 stuff
I'm really leaning more towards the matte finish... As a car enthusiast when going to car shows, seeing someone pull off a flawless matte paint job deserves way more cred because if there's a blemish, there's no sanding or polishing to save you. I'm also all about understated bling... what makes everyone go "yeah cool bike man..." not realising what's actually going on.
@@klein-concept can't wait to see that episode!! It would be cool to have a ride episode where you try out the bike but also show nice riding spots around Berlin.
ultegra set plus light carbon boost slr saddle from selle italia, with light weight wheelset like ventoux evo from farsports and tpu tube far more cost effective for weight saving with all set normally i got bike weight between 7,2kilo-6.7 kilo depend the frame set used. plus if you have avian canary you save 100 gram. i put this thing on my wilier make it uci illegal.
Hi. You mentioned 3D printed a few times but on the Bossi website I only found "cast" and "hydroformed"... no 3D printed... Can you point to where the 3D printed part is mentioned? Thanks
Just get the ultegra groupset and vhain the casette to dura ace and you'll get all the weight benefits plus better shifting. If shifting is not good enough just get the rear derailleur.
The front derailleur wasn't worth it to me to get a Dura Ace. So I saved myself the trouble and got Ultregra. The CN-M9100 chain is great, it lasts me >10,000km. After the first cassette I switched from Ultegra to Dura Ace. When I saw that I was riding 80% on 4 sprockets. And you can replace them relatively cheaply. Plus the big difference in weight. Unfortunately the video doesn't say anything about the crank. Grading and crank length. The Ultegra shift levers don't have an additional button on top?! I weighed the same +-0.5 grams. Only the MT900 is 3 grams lighter. Greetings from Germany.
Both cranks are sub compact so 50-34 but the Ultegra one actually is 172.5 and the Dura Ace one is 170. I think the Ultegra shifters also have a button on top. Will have a look later 🤜🤛
Ever thought about to use the XTR brake discs RT-MT900 instead of the CL-900? They are 5gr. lighter each. And possibly downgrade both disks directly to 140mm for more weight saving, if you are not riding hilly roads!?
I recently swapped my Ultegra cassette for one of those one-piece lightweight Asian cassettes. Boom, -100 grams. Shifting is a tad worse than the Ultegra, but I don't really mind it, and I think that's enough for me. Being close to 80kg, chasing the last 150 grams feels unnecessarily expensive.
Love those China cassettes. As you say they shift a little worse but they will also step up their game at some point and have comparable performance i hope.
254 grams is A LOT. But $1000 is A LOT (to me) as well. Anyway, I - amateur rider - have got myself 11s Ultegra (manual) lately and I'm more than very happy about it. Do I need Dura Ace? Well, if I was 25 years younger, had no injuries (got hit by car when biking) and could easily push 300 Watts drafting across peleton, then somebody would probably buy one for me.

Bzw 1000€ in deinem expliziten Beispiel.
Shocked by the so small difference between 2 cranksets!! That being said, the DA looks so much better. The mat grey is boring IMO. And the cassette… the RIRO weighs 170g for 12s I think?
