- I bought this set to occupy my time somewhat during the 2020/21 Covid-19 Holiday season. I thought the additions looked really nice and I always wanted a full Hogwarts Castle but I could not find a video getting into the build. It is a challenging set, probably 16+ IMHO.
Please know it is not a professionally shot and edited video. It just chronicles my experience building the set and how to deal with several issues. Thanks. It was an endurance build. If I concentrated solely on it instead of catching up on Netflix/Hulu, it probably would have been closer to 5 - 6 weeks. Stay well

Well... My "advent" build this year will be Mould King's UCS Nebulon-B. I am still bitter LEGO opted for the Republic Gunship (aka Flying Minivan) over the NEB-B. I do not see an English review of that yet, so I may video it for posterity. I may try time-lapse.
BTW, please save the rage everyone, I know it was a fan vote decision not LEGO's directly. 8)

Studs McSnap. Love it! Reminds me of the vote winner for that british ship Boaty McBoat Face. This is probably the best building video I've ever seen. I have the Lego castle. It would be nice to be able to buy just the other two sections to complete the castle. Lots of money but maybe some day, if I can distract the wife, I might go for it. Sure would be nice if Lego did it so I wouldn't have to China it. Saw a builder who made instructions to do it but the cost for genuine Lego parts was $7,000. Thanks for the fun video Studs.
I believe you can buy the two expansion sets. You just wont have the closure pieces for the tower and great hall. It may not but up correctly, but could work. The Lego version of great hall is nicer as it is more detailed. (IE Chinese version has two tables, Lego has four IIRC)

I am really terrible with this channel. I just do videos in hopes they help someone decide if worth building/purchasing. I look to videos when on the fence myself and didn't really find any reviews for this.

Hi IIRC, I think I said in video at the end it was 37"x51" and I just measured the height at 25" at the highest including the spire element. Its quite heavy also. I've been pricing out tables. Best I've found is a 60" round plastic for around $200. Its massive. Hope that helps. I plan on taking it to some LUG shows if I can find a table that will fit in my car. Stay well.

Hi, can you explain how to build the back of Hogwarts Tower and the Great Hall? I have the original Lego Hogwarts set 71043 and this two parts are open. I would like to know the pieces that I need and the instructions to build them. Thank you!
This set came with the parts and instructions to build enclosure. TBH, I didn't think the core was part of the set. I thought it was Lego's set and they added the additions. I modified the build because it looked awful and was not structurally sound as seen in video. LEGO never did the enclosure. Maybe try googling Justice Magician building instructions. I have the normal Hogwarts set (with out expansion) I'd love to get this but its already difficult to display my normal hogwarts so I have no idea where I would put this.
Yup. Mine sits on two 3x6 folding tables. a 54x 48 table would work. Or put it on a dining room table for a convenient excuse as to why you can't entertain family. "I'd love to have you over for dinner, but..."

I've had really good luck using acetone for those stubborn places that require glue. If you are patient and paint it on lightly it works very well. There's no hazing residue like you get with kraggle. The bond isn't as strong but it has worked really well for me.

So this is basically the regular castle and a big extension set? What if i already have the castle?
If you have the Lego Hogwarts castle, the expansions should add on to it. There may be some slight tweaking though. It does seem harder to find the 3-1 set in this video. Stay well!

I wish I knew; I get the feeling they may not offer it anymore. A lot of others have been asking the same question. The few I have seen on AliExpress back in December are also a lot more expensive. Maybe a supply-chain inventory issue?
Yourwobb still sells the S7315 set
I've been interested in these extensions for a long time. But I don't quite understand the system. When I look at Amazon in Germany, I find different sets at very different prices. E.g. # S7317 with 6188 parts for 180 € and # S7315 with 12918 parts for 380 €, the # S7316 is not available. I guess this is the LEGO clone. I have the original anyway.
My question: if I buy the S7317 and S7315 and own the LEGO Hogwarts, can I build the entire Hogwarts or am I still missing something? Can I close the LEGO Hogwarts with it?
At Aliexpress I also get a Justice Magician Set with over 16,000 and one with over 22000 parts. Are that another ones again? It can't be a combination of S7317 and S7315, that would be a lot more parts and it can't be a combination of one of the two with the Lego clone. Even then you don't get 16,000 parts.

You can combine it with Lego 71043. The S7316 is a Chinese Clone (as in EXACT ! to the piece) from the LEGO set, hence it is illegal and banned in Europe and elsewhere. But since it is a 1 on 1 copy, the original LEGO set combines as well as the S7316 with the other Sets.
As for the second part of your question - sorry. Have to pass. No idea. But the parts of those sets are as far as I know: S7315 (largest part, "CENTRAL COURTYARD") with 12,918 parts, S7316 aka LEGO 71043 ("Great Hall") with 6,020 parts and S7317 ("Fountain Square") with 6,188 parts. The overall Castle as seen in the video is aprox 25,000 parts...

i hope it s not too late, I ve bougt the original lego (71043) and the S7317 and S7315 sets. they ALMOST combine. The original lego set has 37 numbered bags, the copy (S7316) 39. the last 2 are for closing the backside of the great hall and the tower next to it. So you ll need to buy the parts to close them somewhere else.

I am not sure if all expansions are available given what some have told me. I bought them on Ali-express back in November 2020.
Great video review! I especially like your idea of using tiles and jumpers at intervals to make the buildings easily removable. I wish I had done the same with mine, it just makes it so much easier to arrange and eventually disassemble for storage. I had such a good time building with my kid during lockdown.
I'm so glad we had a closet full of new sets to build, I look back on that time very fondly. We already had The Lego brand Hogwarts ( it's one of those special sets like the Ghostbusters Firehouse that I feel is worth paying full LEGO prices) I picked up the ultimate extension in 2021. Sadly it was a real disappointment becaue the Chinese companies still couldn't produce accurate tan elements at this time. The "tan" bricks in ours had a distinct greenish cast which stood out like a sore thumb! Thankfully I got the extension set from YWOBB and Jay took care of us. Although we did have to wait about 6 months Jay sent us a full replacement which used Gobricks elements and they are a perfect match to real Lego. Jay let us keep the off colour set and we ended up using it to build a huge crusader fortress, so it turned out to be a win-win. Cheers!
So nice to hear. Ya, some of mine had a pink tint to them. I do not recall if I mentioned, but I also had to order a handful of parts from LEGO. Glad the video helped. My niece is usually my sous builder, but with covid lockdown that wasn't possible. Prolly worked out for the better as figuring out the rebuild would have bored her, not to mention the colorful language used when bits collapsed. 8) Be well.

That is the million-dollar question. I am not positive, but I do not think they sell them anymore. I looked on AliExpress back in December 2022 and could only find a few 7317 and it was crazy expensive.

I purchased from Belly Store via aliexpress. Use them if you like or just choose someone with a high rating and verified reviews. It was 99.9% complete, but as in the video, a few pieces were "mis-molded" (i don't think thats a word). Good luck

It's been a while, but the entire castle is actually 3 set numbers. You need all three sets. The exception is if you have the LEGO Hogwarts Castle (71043) already the two expansions will work with that mostly. But there are differences between this and the LEGO great halls.

I purchased it on AliExpress. It took about a month to get (China->US). Several "stores" were selling it and I choose one with good reviews and that they filled several orders. I do not recall exact name of Vendor, but I think I mentioned in replies below a while back. Hope that helps

I just finished the castle and noticed that the little connection bridge in missing. It's at around 34:33 in your video. Do you think you could send me the part of the instructions for this part? I have a PDF instruction and there the bridge is just a clean cut off.

Now, with the second extension, the fountain square, does it come with the section you can snap on to the other side of the tower? To completely cover the staircases? And the great hall? Does it come with a section you can snap on to the other side of the great hall?

Hi, I am not exactly sure to what you are referring, but ill assume you mean the section that goes between the tower and Great Hall. Yes, it is a pain. I had to lift the Great Hall up a little bit to get it in there. I also removed the little 1x?? decorative bits to get it to sit correctly. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a trial-and-error thing. A downside of after-market expansion.
@@studsmcsnap7672 yeah, I eventually realized that the only way that mountain section goes in, is from above, and only then slide it in towards the cave, also the great hall wall has to be removed
All I have left to get is the large section but I cont seem to find it for less that 500$ CAD does anyone know what a good price is for that section I bought the genuine lego section and the smaller clock tower section but I don't want to spend too much on the last set.

They ripped of the core. It has some very minor changes. As I've stated before, I didn't think it was part of the set. I thought you only got the expansion buildings. Fortunately, LEGO won their lawsuits and I think some even went to jail.

It's been a while, but IIRC $627 w/o rewatching video to be sure. I believe I mentioned it in there somewhere. I've since taken to listing prices paid on placards on videos since this one. I did buy in November 2020
I just double checked. I paid $677. Weird bit is, I no longer see the item itself in purchase history. Just the amount. Even a quick search on AliExpress for another commentor yielded nothing.
I hope you at least paid the original designer the price for instructions instead of buying off this shady knock off company who steal designs from LEGO community designers
Um, this expansion was a manufactured retail set as far as I can tell. Not like the venator, which I did compensate designer for.
