I love this set - it’s my personal favourite Lego set I think, built it over Christmas last year and really enjoyed the build while rewatching the films.
Great review! Would be interested in knowing your thoughts on the new Hogwarts Castle and Grounds architecture style set. I’m debating between this set and the Hogwarts mini scale castle given the huge price difference. Thank you!
2 things make this set a dealbreaker for me sadly; the microfigure scale and the insane amount of stickers. I've never been able to get on board with microfig scale, those trophy figs just don't do it for me. And I know my abilities, accurate sticker placement isn't one of them
Something I really wish they would do is add all the other parts of this castle to it. They can show you how to connect them from the original. This set is my fav it is so cool looking and was super fun to build. I think I took off for five days to build it. I keep it displayed and the only crappy part is I’m moving and it’s hard to fit in any storage container.
I got this set from goodwill it was in partial pieces I paid 4$ for it all it’s in a clear tub with other Harry Potter stuff but Ik I’m missing the four founders so debating on even building it because then I’ll have to drop 100$ on the figures
Guys universal did not make Harry potter because Harry Potter is being British the books and the movie is British and the real Hogwarts castle they filmed in is in Scotland
Parts of several castles and cathedrals were used to represent Hogwarts in the films, though none were in Scotland. The most northerly one used was Alnwick Castle in Northumberland.
Anyone know a good way to display this? I currently have it on a cabinet and I had the idea of getting a lazy Susan to set it on so it could rotate. Then I realized that it won’t rotate without the center being almost off the cabinet. As of now my only thought is to see how far I would have to pull the cabinet away from the wall so that it could spin
to be honest the big tower doesn't look that nice in the books and movies it's much taller and wider San in the lego set right across from the main hall
I want one of these but man its expensive... last I checked zavvi has it for the old retail price I believe but its still a lot of money 🥴 /edit i also want diagon alley. Do we know if either one is about to retire? Or which one is gonna go first?
Diagon alley i know 2024-25 it will expire. But maybe they pre long it but i think not becouse of the new stand alone weasley store set. I sadly started collecting again in 2021. Re releases of hp/20yr celebrations. On story telling it has much more detail and possibility but kinda square. (For now). Overal for me i dont know if i ever gone collect the 2018 sets ect due there massive raise in prices😢😭😪 sadly this is the way with lego if you dont buy it imediatly. I do got allot of 2001 and 2002 sets from me as a child. Im lucky enough to have the masive microscale castle and diagon alley set as display pieces in my study room. But tbh lego gets more and more expensive and i dont know how long i can keep up with. Same issue i have is. Ive bougth the 4privet drive. And the train. And i want the hagrids house too. But its so overpriced. Also i do not know if. Lego is gone re remake them aswhell. Becouse then there cheaper and newer. I believe hp lego will run untill 2025 and then it will be gone. But we will never know.
A few ways to update the set, maybe you can switch that ugly totem pole head in the chamber for the one that came in the set that included the golden voldemort, and that set also comes with an actually molded godric gryfindor sword with all the details and such
Wrong bathroom! Moaning Murtle is located higher in the castle. Where she is continuously bothering the mermaid. The chamber can only be entered via the girl’s bathroom in the cellar near yhe Slytherin Common-room!

Yeah, they really dropped the ball with this one concerning the minifigures.
I wouldn't be realistically douable in minifigure scale, It would just be way to big and expensive or completely out of scale like the playsets.
