I was wondering when you'd put the ending "lockup" sequence in one of these videos! Still to this day one of my favorite ways a game wraps up it's story. But this has all been awesome work, and hopefully one day we'll get fully stable FPGA conker
I've enjoyed this little miniseries of Conker vids, thanks for putting in the work, this is what makes the MiSTer such an awsome platform, and who knows maybe within a year you might be announcing a perfect Conker version for MiSTer, would be amazing if that happens, being able to play Conker with zero latency in 480p would be amazing, CBFD is my favourite game (second only to OOT), I wondered if the new N64 game decompiler would perhaps help in producing a working version tailored for MiSTer, but that is beyond my skills to be honest.
@@VideoGameEsoterica- It actually makes me wonder if there's a subtle bug in the TLB or other virtual memory features of the CPU that's causing memory to either not get freed or to get freed from the wrong address (freeing unallocated RAM could cause the running game to crash, or could simply neglect to free the intended allocated RAM).
Not a bad thought either. The game has the free ram on the map. It’s just a situation where it’s not contiguous and it’s trying to read/write from an already occupied space
@@VideoGameEsoterica- Yes, there's a LOT of non-deterministic behavior (by design) in the way a virtual memory management system works (especially if parallel threads are running), so I wouldn't even expect two identical runs on a real N64 to behave exactly the same way in terms of memory locations/fragmentation/allocation.
@@VideoGameEsoterica- That lack of substantial free RAM increase on MISTer at that point in the sequence is probably going to be the "smoking gun" here. Excellent work finding that.
I'm extremely grateful for all your efforts. Conker is one of my all time faves and it's always been a headache to emulate well.
Thanks. Not an easy project but hopefully one day it’ll work

Haha I saved it for the last evidence gathering vid
Just get a N64 and an everdrive, problem solved.
You really don’t know how to have fun do you?
@@DrNoBrazil I could do one better and borrow a real copy from a family member who owns one but that's not the point here
He never gets the point. Flies well above his head every time haha
Well if you want more info about ares, ares is just parallel N64 emulator core from libretro with the matching parallel pluggins.
so, conclusion, it still crashes even on that prototype version you mentioned last time?
Yes but 80% less than retail

Working on it. I know all I need to know now
PIRACY REMAINS UNDEFEATED AND THERE WILL BE A MIRACLE #FCKDRM
I still need to try that prototype
The time is now
@@VideoGameEsoterica ok
Yay, it loads now.

It makes me wonder if there's some sort of garbage collection subroutine in there that could just be run more aggressively.
I’ve been thinking the same thing. If memory management could just get a touch more efficient I think we’d be golden

so cool
It’s been fun so far
Can't go wrong with sweet corn in poo. 🌽💩
Most iconic part of the game IMO
I think you mean *icornic* part. 😎
