No that made me smile. I must say it is very satisfying ripping off in minutes what took hours to apply, I was undecided if to keep the footage in our not, but obviously I fulfilled some audience need keeping it in :-)
I started watching episode one and binged all the way to now and realized I’ve caught up to real-time. This is my new game of thrones. Here I am counting the days until a new episode drops. Nice work sir
Now that made me laugh - the new game of thrones! The good news is I have many more episodes to come, the bad news is you will have to wait two weeks between episodes. Already back in the Dean Den with Rufus creating part 45 of the build. Cheers Nigel (and Rufus if course)
Another great episode Nigel. The way you finished the engine was really nice. That was good thinking because that will help you keep the engine clean. As usual, your attention to detail was there and it will pay off. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
Don't worry Rufus gets lots of pats. In fact we are just sitting down together for an ice cold beer after a few hours in the Dean Den. Just finished a seriously tricky job which I will share in the next episode. Thanks for supporting the channel. Nigel (and Rufus)
I like your V8 Creative valve covers. I had Ultima send me plates that read ULTIMA RS LT5 to cover over the "Corvette LT5" on the supercharger. Showcasing your TH-cam channel is smart. I live 200 miles from Detroit and Corvettes are everywhere so I wanted the motor/supercharger to reflect Ultima.
Appreciate the comment, and as you say Corvettes must be everywhere in Detroit. The next modification I'm working on should remove even more of the Chevy visual DNA, but let's wait and see.
Great video Nigle and nice detail as usual. V8 Creative Covers and artwork. Love them! they look great! 👍 Go for it you can always remove them if you eventually sell it😂
Thanks for the vote and positive comment. I tend to like building detailed V8s. Have a look here at a couple of my previous engine bays: www.v8creative.com/v8-engines
Thanks. I had it designed by a graphic designer. You would not believe how long it took to select the font and the colour of that green flash. The green colour is actually a Lamborghini colour - a nod to the supercar brand I appreciate
I'm defiantly outvoted on this one, but personally I feel "Ultima RS" on the covers would be amazing.. Im just picturing you at a show with the rear clam up and people who dont know your channel or what an Ultima is will be confused. Anyways, beautiful build Nigel, thanks for going to all the effort of making these videos. Im going to build an Ulitma with my son in a few years and I've learnt a lot about what the kit is all about from you videos. Matt from NZ
Hi Matt, and no worries with the vote. To be honest I'm still undecided but I have the option to remove/fit in seconds. Great to hear you are thinking of building an Ultima, it is an amazing journey. Just finished off Episode 45 which will be released this coming Friday. Cheers Nigel and Rufus
Love the valve covers, engine color etc. Not sure on the V8 Creative cover, I’d wait and see the engine complete and in place. Anyway, they can be popped on and off as you please
Thanks for the comment and I don't have the answer. All I do know is supporting a new power plant is a significant investment, both financially and in time for the factory. However, Ultima focuses significant resource on continual development and I'm confident power plant choice will expand moving forward.
That valvecover looks good, and I like the idea of the logo, but... I think you should work a little bit more on them. There are "too much black between the letters". I mean, look at the "V", inside it, it is open and red, but between the "V" and the "8", there is black. And so are the rest of the letters. So - should it be black "inside" the "V", or more open red between all the letters?
Hi and appreciate the feedback. It's a good observation since sometimes you do something and it just doesn't hit the mark but the concept simply needs refining. Appreciate you spending time giving feedback. Cheers Nigel
Nigel, I have the same LS3 in my cobra, I happen to notice you left the old corvette oil level float in your sump, are you going to try and use it, or if its not going to be used, then why not remove it and fit a billet plug. M20-1.5 metric thread with O-ring seal, Designed to plug the oil level sensor threaded port in LS series oil pans. I can send you the link where to get it from if you like.
Hi Mike, not sure if the Ultima loom uses the oil level sensor, I will need to check. If it does not I guess I could replace it with a plug (I probably have one in the Dean Den). Thanks for the observation
Definitely leave the logo's on the covers. This video definitely proves that you get out what you put in; 2hrs of masking for 5mins spraying but what a result! Looks great now but in the months to come it'll really pay off. Great viewing as always, thanks.
Not too much actually, but as you know as soon as a spray can comes out overspray is an issue. The masking tape was pretty good to prevent any bleed through, but nothing some brake cleaner could not remove :-)
Which clutch are you using please? Is it ready/upgraded in case you go supercharged? Interested to know as the clutch is slipping on my GTR720 after 2,000 miles and most likely needs a more modern upgraded clutch.
Hi Jason. I opted for the high-performance clutch option to ensure she will cope with the torques. I can't remember there being such an option when I built my GTR 20+ years ago (around the same time as the GTR720 was smashing world records).
Who supplied the clutch, I have a GTR 720, clutch supplied by Ultima. Very heavy clutch pedal but not one issue in 16,000 miles over 12 years 🤷🏼♂️ my engine is the 7ltr, fuel injected. Came out at 710hp Strange it slips, Nigel will know
Well that’s one advantages of making a TH-cam channel, I film everything. I must admit I did refer back to a previous episode to check all was as it should be :-)
IMHO you shouldn't add / overlay music. I would rather hear spannering sounds, or you pontificating about some topic. Voiceover would work, too. But people have already heard the royalty free music a zillion times. Good luck with channel.!
@@jasonhill2896 Would you rather listen to royalty free music, that you have heard before, or Listen to the host talk about Rufus. I vote for hearing about Rufus. What about you?
This is a long running debate :-). To be honest I can't use the noise of spannering since I'm listening to stuff on the TV. Anyway, it often depends on the length of time I'm filming. This episode was hours of masking etc, and leaving it silent just didn't seem right. Anyway, thanks for the comments and support :-)
That engine looks the business, fantastic work as always. I quite like the V8CREATIVE logo. Matching the valve covers to the calipers was an inspired move, well done sir. Have a great weekend
Thanks for watching. Now I must say I love LEGO, but you raise an interesting point. There is a fine line between cheesy and impactful. I guess it's down to personal opinion, and until the car is totally finished I will not know if my choices complement one another. Anyway, appreciate you taking time to leave a comment.
There is absolutely nothing the audience wants more than to watch an unmasking. My compliments to the unit.
No that made me smile. I must say it is very satisfying ripping off in minutes what took hours to apply, I was undecided if to keep the footage in our not, but obviously I fulfilled some audience need keeping it in :-)
Your creative director deserves a raise
We are currently in negotiations :-). He is demanding more treats for every episode he appears

Thanks for the comment. Next episode tonight at 5:30 UK time :1)
On with the logo... Looks good. Brings your own brand to the car.
Thanks, one vote for the logo :-)
Very good episode like always! Your creative director deserves a pat on the head !

Leave the logo on. The engine looks amazing Nigel. Keep it brother. Loving the build.
Thanks and appreciate the comment and vote. I must say your picture is rather scary :-)
"Lumps of cheese" 😅
'On' with the V8 Creative valve seal lazer cut decals for me 👍
Made me laugh also. But to be fair I like cheese. Cheers Nigel

As if you would sell it! I spent half the build (4 years) admiring the car and still pop into the garage for a lustful glance 26 years on.
I love the end of your video Nigel! The slow-mo of your dog!
Thanks Evie. Yes Rufus came up trumps on his last walk and made the perfect ending to this episode
Yeah V8 Creative logo on,looks really good :)

'All in the detail'...👍..valves covers look good, like also v8creative artwork plate..😁
Cheers, and I just can't help myself. More to come
Oh, the valve cover logo's on!
Cheers

Good shout out and I am leaning towards your thought. It depends how crowded the engine bay gets once everything is in place
@ 27:00 ---> black fasteners would look much better... 😉
Superb observation. The challenge is... is it possible to source black finished stainless steel fasteners? Now there's a challenge
When Chevy releases the new LT6 as a crate motor I hope ultima engineers an install kit for it.
Thanks for the comment and I don't have the answer. All I do know is supporting a new power plant is a significant investment, both financially and in time for the factory. How much clean up did you do after painting? Were you dealing with any paint bleed through?
Not too much actually, but as you know as soon as a spray can comes out overspray is an issue. The masking tape was pretty good to prevent any bleed through, but nothing some brake cleaner could not remove :-)

@mattleckenby6460 Factory supplied, but back in 2009. I have 730ps. Surely it can't be 4th and 5th gear wheelspin in the dry.
if I took an engine apart like that, I'd never get it back together. I would need to record everything and not touch them once laid down.
Well that’s one advantages of making a TH-cam channel, I film everything. I must admit I did refer back to a previous episode to check all was as it should be :-)

I quite like the choice of uplifting music and have even added a track to my regular Spotify playlist. Good we are all different 👍

Leave the logo OFF the engine, just a tad cheesy.
