That is not an R Sport , it's a PORTFOLIO - The R Sport has a leather steering wheel, the same seats as the XJR, door panels are finished in carbon fiber or piano black lacquer, and the sill scuff plates say R SPORT. The Portfolio has the wood wheel, piping on the leater seats, wood door panels, and the sill scuff plates say Jaguar ,etc. Both cars have the same motor and hp, but the Portfolio is a luxury trim and the R Sport has the XJR Sportier interior which the car your test driving does not. Both are great cars ! People are notorious for putting the R Sport emblem in the outside fender vent and trying to call them and R Sport.
I have this exact year and model vehicle and this is indeed the R Sport. This is considered the base trim level for the XJ (not to be confused with the high end XJR). The chrome side badging in front of the doors actually reads Jaguar and R Sport is embossed in front of the Jaguar label. This vehicle has the upgraded steering wheel that was available as an option on the R Sport model. I have seen reviews of the R Sport from the U.K. that show the R Sport label on the door scuff plates but my 2017 is the same as this car (just shows Jaguar). Not sure if that was a model year difference or if the UK version is different from the U.S. and for me Canadian version. Here in North America the Portfolio has diamond stitched seating and I believe was only available in the longer version of the car (so XJL Portfolio). I have always found it odd that they would have 2 models that are so easily confused (R-Sport and XJR). I know when I tell most people my car is an R Sport they initially assume it is the super duper version and "sometimes" I correct them lol
im purchasing this car it’s being delivered next week like yours you test driving it doesn’t have the R badges.. so is it really a R sport or do you need the 5.0 for that badging ?
There are actually two different models and it is a bit confusing to say the least. The R-Sport could be considered the base XJ model (3.0 L engine at 340hp) but the XJR is what I would call the super sport high end version (so that has the 5.0L engine with I believe 550 hp). The XJR is the model that will have the "R" badging.
That would be a high mileage beater XJR with either an accident or a claim and 200k kms lol. People who buy such an XJR would not have the means to maintain it even
My personal opinion that I have practiced several times when buying a luxury car... Buy a 1 or 2 year old CPO (certified preowned) car. You avoid the heavy initial depreciation and the CPO certification typically gives you a 6 yr/ 100,000 mile warranty. I do agree with Ayy Vlogs comment.... I just bought a 2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT with only 1406 miles on it at auction in Amelia Island.... and immediately spent $5K on a new screen in the center dash. tough hit after dumping $116k on it. These cars can really hit the pocket book. Not just picking on Jag tho... I have a Porsche and an Audi that have had big repairs. Funny enough, my 2-1/2 year old Denali with 73K miles has cost more to repair than any of them.
@@Fulloctanegarage You have a point there. Another way to look at it is: If you only paid 25% for these 5+ year-old cars, even if you need to put 5k into initial repairs it's still good value (or try to find a good aftermarket warranty). Pre-purchase inspection and recent service records are mandatory, and private sellers are preferable to dealers. Just my own personal experience.
I purchased this car same color 2 weeks ago. I love it!
Congrats!!!!

The invoice said R-Sport on it.

It is the 6 cylinder…. They did make an R badged V8. You can spot them because they have hood louvers that say SUPERCHARGED HUGE difference in power

Really a great car that certainly matches the german competition!
I agree.. thought it would drive like a boat because of the size.. but it was awesome. the v8 is truly a competitor
My dad used to have this, traded in for a 2018 F-250 later 😔
We don't need any Germans when you take this English Gentlemen's Carriage for a spin
you
forgot the fact that its got massage chairs in the front two seats
That option was not included on this vehicle.
superb car
Gosh those pickup... Ahhhh
shinytan We love our Denalis ! Check out the reviews of both on our channel also. Thanks for watching!

This is better: 2014 XJR, 0-60 3.8 sec, $30K
That would be a high mileage beater XJR with either an accident or a claim and 200k kms lol. People who buy such an XJR would not have the means to maintain it even
@@aymansgarage not true, these luxury sedans depreciate like crazy: XJR, S63, etc... $1.3-2.0k /yr

Nice!
I don't think that's an R Sport. If it is then it's got the wrong steering wheel on! No R Badge!
First!!
