    UPDATE: Zhiyun issued an official statement on the issues with the X100 battery. If you've got problems with yours, be sure to follow the advice in the statement to get a replacement battery for free. Here is the link: instagram.com/p/C4ffZTxvhMa/?igsh=MXNydGE2NXp1ZnI2Zg==
    LIGHT READING ERROR:
    I didnt notice before posting but the readings got duplicated. So both are the same slides, even tho text says otherwise. What you're seeing (on both slides) is the readings for the X100.
    If you want to see the G200 readings, those are in the G200 review I did. Check that out here: th-cam.com/video/JPXyp-lBrOA/w-d-xo.html
    Sorry for the error. It happens from time to time I miss something like that before export.

      One way to go, without having to edit and re-upload your video: From your youtube channel account, place an overlay on top of your existing video. For example, a rectangle covering the incorrect data chart, and on that rectangle include text explaining that the chart data is incorrect--or better yet, the overlayed text can include the correct data. **UPDATE: TH-cam has removed that overlay feature; and interestingly the overlay that was in my 2009 video for years is no longer there.

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried, but TH-cam doesn't allow any text in the editor. Just blur. So I couldn't make that change unfortunately.

    "Oh, the joys of the Molus X100 grip battery! Lasted a whole month with a grand total of 3 uses before it decided to take an eternal nap. Apparently, it's the popular trend with this model - hundreds have joined this exclusive 'won't charge or turn on' club. Hey, thanks for pointing out the inaccurate color temperature control below 10-15 percent. I've noticed that when I bought the light. I contacted Zhiyun and they informed me that it is a known issue across all units. I still decided to keep it, as there isn't anything comparable in the market as of now. Most reviewers don't mention the product's flaws, so I'm grateful you do.
    One other thing worth mentioning is that while the X100 and G200 can be used flicker free at all power levels and color temperatures (tested that with an electronic shutter at up to 1/8000 of a second), the G60 is flicker free until about 1/200 when using mixed color temperature or completely flicker free if set to either 2700K or 6500K.

    How the Molus x100 compare to Amaran 60 in terms for LUX?
    In your reviews the Amaran got:
    36,000 LUX in "Colbor vs Amaran" review (Amaran 60x)
    25,600 LUX in Amaran VS Godox VS Nanlite (Amaran 60d)

Since you stressed several times in videos about how hot these lights are, are they hotter than the Amaran or Godox lights in the same output, and is it only hotter in front of the chip or is the whole unit hot? I am wondering if the excess heat will shorten the life of the chip? I think the form factor is incredibly convenient for a number of people, but the lack of a more prominent cooling system (which accounts for the size) might be a downfall. I don't know.

    Whats your thoughts about Molus X100 VS Colbor CL60?

  • @andersistbesser
    @andersistbesser ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hmm i can imagine the 200 cant handle softboxes very well as it is too smal and light. I guess it is too front heavy with a decent box so it does not really make sense as a studio lighr

  • @noahyv
    @noahyv ปีที่แล้ว

    What firmware was your x100? I didn’t see the color temperature issue but I did find mine was about 12% power at 1% (your photo metrics showed ~3% power at 1% dim) so maybe in the newer firmware they remapped the dimming so you can’t dim it enough to have color temp issues? But im not sure how annoyed to be about not being able to dim it that low, since it's possible I won't need to run it at

    • @noahyv
      @noahyv ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually I just got my 2nd one and tested it before upgrading the firmware and what I suspected is definitely true. Out of the box these output 3% at 1% and have extremely coarse/wrong color temps and don't respond to the android app well until you upgrade the firmware through the app and after updating firmware they output around 13% at 1% and have pretty accurate color temps and work well with the app.

  • @BrandonLuckain

    Are these lights really the same in output at 5600k, or is that a typo? 23400 lux at 100% according to your table? I know the X100 reflector hotspot can probably attribute to this but still seems surprising that a “100w” light will put out the same as a “200w” light.
    More interesting also, is that on Zhiyun‘s website they list the x100 as having 60W of power.

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that was a problem with export, it duplicated the slide. I put a pinned comment about the problem. The G200 is double the power and way more accurate. Check out the G20 review to see those readings: th-cam.com/video/JPXyp-lBrOA/w-d-xo.html

    I love the X100... the only thing that kills me is the Bowens adapter... it just about holds a 120cm Octa... but it's not so strong. if they made a better adapter for it I would switch all of my godox leds to these as they just fit so nicely in a camera bag

    • @finality4795
      @finality4795 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      why you using a 120cm octa on such tiny lights, you may as well just use a slightly bigger / cheaper light. Portability / size is the main selling point of these lights

    i have the same color problem at low percentages, from 4 to 5 % it literally just goes from cold to warm then to cold again.
    compact, light, yes.
    I was hoping to power it with vmounts from DTAP to AC, but it did not work.
    Probably should find Dtap to usbc.
    Next time will get something probably bulkier and just let the lighting people handle it.

    Is there a UL (usa) or CE (europe) or CSA (canada) logo on the light or on the DC power supply and the battery bank? (always an important question for ALL camera gear; but especially for China lights; and most especially for lights which run super hot) Nice Heather that your light reviews include heat, and fan noise.

      Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I took a look at the x100 battery and I see the following " EAC UKCA FCC " There is another where it looks like a C and the euro symbol but without the lines horizontally through it.
      However on the power brick it has the UL, EAC, FCC, and a few others.
      It is made in China, says right on them.
      Hope that helps a little bit.

      @@FellowFilmmaker Rule of thumb, if something is not UL (usa) or CE (europe) or CSA (canada) certified , don't plug it in!

    • @lovemauihawaii
      @lovemauihawaii ปีที่แล้ว

      ps...
      ALL legitimate manufacturers who sell in the USA send their products to UL (Underwriters Laboratories) to be tested and certified, after which they may display the UL symbol on their device. Legit manufacturers who sell in Canada submit their products to CSA for certification. Legit manufacturers who sell in Europe submit their products for a CE certification. ... The FCC symbol designates the product has been certified for the airwaves. (i.e. does not emit radio interference or exceed signal strength limits; and for transmitters, is within the correct frequency) ..... Products from big name manufacturers typically bear most or all the marks. (UL, CE, and CSA, and FCC) Look on the back of your name brand LCD tv, you'll prob see most of those marks.
      A majority of cheaply made Chinese products don't bear any marks cuz they cannot pass UL, CSA, CE or FCC tests. (plus they're def not interested in paying the testing fee!) If you use non-certified products you may one day come home to find your house burnt down.
