- There is no doubt cats are the undisputed masters of the Internet. But how does a cat become a social phenomenon with over 250,000 followers? Together with his best friend, the Norwegian forest cat Sigrid, Travis Nelson tells us the story of their bicycle rides through London, but most importantly, of their beautiful, unique friendship.
Travis Nelson è un ingegnere informatico, ciclista da sempre e amante degli animali. Originario di San Francisco in California, nel 2019 si trasferisce a Londra. Durante la pandemia Travis ha iniziato a esplorare la città in bicicletta in compagnia della sua gatta norvegese Sigrid, affetta da sordità. Quello che era nato come un passatempo è rapidamente diventato qualcosa di più: oggi il suo canale Instagram è seguito da quasi duecentomila persone e i video delle gite di Sigrid sono quotidianamente visti in tutto il mondo. Travis, this is such a great story about a bond between a human and a cat! I have never seen a Norwegian forest cat before, Sigrid is beautiful! ❤ From my interactions with cats I know that cats can be very protective and they can also sense what is going to with the human. I trained my Savannah cat from age 12 weeks to walk with me in the California redwood forest trails and on side walks. She didn’t do too well with the cars, and eventually wandered off at age 1 and got hit. But just before she died I had her on my shoulder while riding a bike. She loved being up there. She died I think cause she was chasing after me after I left a few days after the bike ride. I like to think she was enlightened by that ride but maybe got a little too confident crossing the sidewalk. A car got her in front of a gate so it was a low speed thing and I never got to bury her. I knew that was her blood spot cause the tile tracker was still working and was in a neighbors apartment where I knocked to hear the bad news. I never really knew who hit her, and am glad I didn’t find out as that would have made that person uncomfortable

Two questions: 1) What happened to the wife? and 2) How do they afford to live this life?
She's right here! She works as a game designer and pays half our rent/bills etc. I spent a lot of my savings the first couple years after I lost my job, but I'm more or less breaking even now with occasional ad money plus some Patreon donations. It's not much, but if I wanted to get rich I'd go back to working in tech! 🙂
(I have a book out too, called "Sigrid Rides", which I've gotten a bit of money from, it all adds up! To barely minimum wage. 😅)
