    I am trying to take a break on buying patterns but the bust darts sold me on this. I love the noisy birds in your videos.

    I have a ready made very similar to this that is color blocked. You could so do this with this pattern. Always appreciate when you add your own take and make a second one, showing us color, fabric or style options and of course your very detailed sewing methods. Another great video Karina!

    Great pattern, totally love the design fit because women want the bust area to look more fitted. What do you think about adding a hood?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a hood, the collar piece needs to be removed and the placket made shorter. For sure it’s possible.

    Two gorgeous tops and they look fabulous on you. Just ordered the pattern along with the free Lago tank - just couldn't resist. Wondering if you have done a sew-a-along for the Lago too. I'm off to look through your back catalogue. Thanks Karina x

    Great video! I’ve just bought the pattern through your link.. You’re right about snaps, they’re so much easier than button holes and buttons. (I’m saying that as someone who is worried about spoiling a garment with poorly done buttonholes!) Your videos are so instructive and I love the precision in your sewing - it sets such a good example to someone who is new to sewing like me! Love it when you bring out a new video. Marie from 🇬🇧 xx

    Rookie question: what kind of thread do you use for hand basting? It almost looks like embroidery floss.

    Excellent timing posting your review of Bainbridge as I was considering purchase of this new winner from Kennis Wong at Itch to Stitch💗. (I’ve totally given up my pattern diet. 🤣) The binding is woven, not stretchy?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The binding is made with woven fabric and it makes it so much easier to deal with :)

    I am just curious why you choose to do the sleeves in the round vs. flat?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason is important to me. When the sleeve is sewn on the round, it becomes a dominant seam that is independent from the side seam. This allows you to move your arms freely and the sleeve won't cause the side seam to move along with it (shifting up when you raise or extend your arms), like it ocurrs when they are sewn on the flat and its one continuous seam. That's why. Also, there is less bulk on the underarm and it feels comfortable.

      @@LiftingPinsandNeedles Thanks so much for the explanation! This makes perfect sense and I will try in my next project. I also was on the fence about buying this pattern, but you have convinced me to get it!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’ll love it :) I rarely sew sleeves flat although they are in the instructions of most knit patterns.

  • @teresatierney4817
    @teresatierney4817 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lovely. I have never worked with velvet. Is there a risk of "crushing" the material as you work with it? If I have a teflon foot, would that help with the fabric sticking or does teflon only help with slick materials ? You are beautiful by the way.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Teflon foot is worth trying. I don’t have one so I can’t rely on the experience. I don’t see the material being crushed at all.

  • @carolinedelisle589
    @carolinedelisle589 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love both versions and how the trim on your velvet one matches the skirt. What pattern skirt are you wearing with the solid coloured sweater?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The beige skirt is an OLD RTW Lee Riders skirt. I can’t remember how many years I’ve had it :)
