So creative Karina, awesome use of your pattern and fabrics. To me your channel is the best sewing channel on TH-cam, always such an inspiration. Thank you 😊
Lifting Pins and Needles It does! It’s lovely to see. Just bought the pattern (via your link ofcourse). May take me a while, but getting into pattern manipulations like you, now that I am finally getting a grip on fitting. 💕
Oh, that first flowered one is just so pritty, well they are lovely all 4 :-) Thanks for the dart-fun and your creative touches, so fun to watch. Love it :-)
I had been waiting to buy this pattern, and could not believe when it went on sale! Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial. When you make videos like this, I take lots of notes, and reference your videos, then keep the notes in the pattern envelope. You are a very good teacher and are really inspiring me to step away from the original pattern form. I am self taught (well, youtube taught) and have only been sewing a little over 2 years.
Lifting Pins and Needles that was a nice way of saying they should pay you f or all the options and content you provide on their patterns! I’m sure you have convinced many a buyer!
So happy you did the gathered shoulder ,I have been wanting to do that exact alteration! So so happy to see how you did it ,I will be trying it too! Thanks Karina . Love all your videos
Hi KARINA, I just ordered this pattern via yr link , I paid full price as I saw yr notice too late but kno worries I hope u get more commission ! Will attempt this in the near future as I just started working on something today. Thank you for sharing and showing us how to sew better ! Greetings dear Karina from Europe.
I am going to try this, for sure. I have a ghastly dress I was given, I've unpicked it and have enough fabric from the gathered skit for this, I think. Thank you
Hi, I receive the newsletter from LoveNotions early in the day but I always waits for your videos about the feature friday pattern... I love it! Thanks!
I just fitted the Cadence and found it frumpy on me. I was wondering how to give it more style and saw this video. I like that you used bias binding instead of the large facings. Your tops are great and I'll keep this tips in mind when figuring out how to restyle this pattern.
I really enjoyed this video Karina! Well! I always enjoy your videos but this one was special :) I typically have to do a fba (not on Love Notions, Itch to Stitch and Cashmerette patterns b/c they do have bust sizes) and sometimes when I do an fba I wish I didn't have to have a dart. Moving that dart into the shoulder seam as gathers BUT having the back piece come down over the shoulder was genius. I'm going to make use of this process on all sorts of garments especially knits when you often don't want to have a dart. Love all the garments you've made! They are exactly what I wear a lot too :)
Darts as a necessity if not pretty but they can be disguised as pleats or gathers and the process is limitless. I’m glad you can see the use for this in your own sewing 😄
I learned so much from this video, thank you! I really appreciate how you go into detail and you show everything close up and the finished garment as well. Your instructions are clear and even though I'm still new to garment sewing, I feel I could actually do this! Thank you again!
I am stuck on this pattern toile as I had to change the dart and do Sway back. My pattern piece looks a mess and I am excited to see how I might just carry on now.
About sway back, make sure your hips are fitting ok because sometimes when they are a tad fitted it makes the top ride up and make us think it’s sway back.
This pattern is from Love Notions. I put the links to the patters in the description box of the videos. www.lovenotions.com/product/cadence-dress-top-xs-xxxl?affiliates=366
The ones I showed today are all crepe. Heavy bottom weight (suiting)... I wouldn’t recommend it but I loved the roses so I made it work. The others are light bubble crepe :)
Hi Karena l have just purchased this pattern Cadence Dress/top through you affiliated link so hope you get a little commision. I look forward to sewing this in due course, l love your ideas you are so clever and a great dressmaker. I am going to donate to your Kofi page as you deserve a contribution. I am sorry l cannot afford to join youe Patreon page but this is my way of showing appreciation. Where do you get the satin bias tape you use quite a lot on your armhole and necks, could l buy this in u.k.Thankyou. 😘
I will ask a friend about where to get it in the U.K. I got mine in bulk in Bolivia and it’s made in Peru. You can also make your own. I do that when I have enough fabric from my project :) Thank you so much for your support 😃
Wendy Simm - Hi Wendy, I am in the U.K. and my local sewing shops sell satin bias tape (I use Boyes and Dunelm). I think it is widely and easily available here.
This is how the platform of youtube and the video creator (me) recovers only partial costs of producing FREE high quality sewing content. An ad costs you absolutely nothing and you can skip them. If my making a living with my specialized work is not acceptable to you... and you’d like me to work for free and actually lose resources with each video, then I don’t have anything else to say. Every video I make costs $ and my time to make.
I serge my hems...apply appli-strip (1cm fusible web with a paper backing) iron the hem up the width of the paper backed web....peel off the paper....iron to fix the hem and then hand sew or if not serged i use my coverstitch machine to sew it down. Sewing is not realy needed as if pressed well the fusible web hold very very well.
I don’t have access to purchase that type of notion where I live. So I keep my sewing simple and use only the basics. I live in Brazil and can’t just purchase everything there is. I actually do love sitting down and hand sewing :) I also don’t have a coverstitch machine. Examples of things I can’t buy: fray check, wonder tape, clear elastic...

Love those pleats! Thank you!
I love all the changes and details that you added! My favorite is the box pleated bum.
Thanks! I truly had loads of fun with these little hacks.
Yes that was really cute
Beautiful use of the black and roses (scrap) fabric! Looks very high end tailored.
Thank you so much 😊. If I’d top stitched the binding, it would look horrid :)
Love the tops and the dress. You are so clever and make these hacks so achievable.😀
They are all easy ones to do. And so much fun too!
Great to see the joy this creative sewing brings you. Contagious (the right kind) 😉 💕
I’m absolutely BUZZING when I do these types of projects 😃. I guess it shows

Hi Karina, love all the versions. Thank you for sharing. Val❤️🇨🇦🇬🇧
You’re so welcome 😉
You are so talented , creative , and inspiring not to mention beautiful. ITS should have you on their team!
ITS does not have a “team” as such. Thank you so much for your encouragement 😄
Lifting Pins and Needles that was a nice way of saying they should pay you f or all the options and content you provide on their patterns! I’m sure you have convinced many a buyer!
These are awesome Karina!
I can't wait to try the way you did the pink top & those ties on that dress!!
They can go on anything:)

I’d wanted to do it too. So fun :)

What a shame you missed the sale but you’ll get a lot of value from the pattern :)
Another great and informative video Karina, and happy that it is with woven fabrics. Tku. xx
Woven makes me jump for joy!
I just love the sleeveless top with the pleats on the back! Looks fabulous on you and as usual, you've done a great job!😊❤👍
Thank you so much 😊
Those ties would be awesome in a contrasting fabric, too (like that leftover little bit from another make ;). 💚💚💚
Yup 👍🏼 . This time I had just enough :)
Great ideas, thank you
You’re very welcome 😉

So interesting - I always learn such a lot from your videos Karina. My absolute favourite is that pretty pink top but these are all great. Thank you.
Thank you so much! I wanted to make 3 more with the gathers 😃
I have this pattern, thanks for the inspiration.
Love the variations you've made to this pattern!!
I just love that skirt with the zipper! ♥️ Could you tell me what pattern that is?
You really are a genius. These changes are so great.
They are fun and that’s why I love sewing so much :)
Amazing as always, Karina, and so inspirational.
Thank you so much 😊
You are so talented! Thanks for sharing. I am learning so much from you.

You can do it! At the end of the day, it’s only fabric and you can practice first with scraps :)
The sky is the limit :)
Thanks so much for the waist tie idea! I will be cutting a Cadence dress out soon and I'm going to make the ties :)
Awesome 👏🏼, it’s a fun little detail :)
Love them all. I’m going to print out the cadence right now. Thanks for the great ideas.
Yay! Have fun :)
Love all of these. Thanks for all the ideas.
You’re very welcome 😉
Love all your changes. So creative! Xx
Thanks! I had loads of fun :)

Very inspiring indeed , thank u karina
You’re very welcome 😉
Wonderful information. Thank you.
You’re most welcome 😃
Very good ideas. Thank you. Donna H
You’re very welcome 😉
Perfect!
Do you have a video that shows how you use bias tape instead of the facings for the cadence ? I thought I’ve seen it before but can’t find it
I am stuck on this pattern toile as I had to change the dart and do Sway back. My pattern piece looks a mess and I am excited to see how I might just carry on now.
About sway back, make sure your hips are fitting ok because sometimes when they are a tad fitted it makes the top ride up and make us think it’s sway back.
Lifting Pins and Needles thanks. I think I did the hip alteration and still needed sway back.
I want to try several you these. Thanks for the inspiration! I heard you say there were no darts in the final hack. Where did they go?
I rotated them to the shoulders.
Have not been able to find the pattern at Itch and Stitch. Where can I find it.
This pattern is from Love Notions. I put the links to the patters in the description box of the videos. www.lovenotions.com/product/cadence-dress-top-xs-xxxl?affiliates=366
If you make one in stretch fabric and you want to make another in cotton what do change?
This pattern is not for stretch knit fabrics. It would be too big. I’d rather find a pattern for knit fabrics for this style.
What sort of woven fabrics did you use?
The ones I showed today are all crepe. Heavy bottom weight (suiting)... I wouldn’t recommend it but I loved the roses so I made it work. The others are light bubble crepe :)

Linda Ethell Thank you, are you in Yorkshire area ? l live in N Yorks and shop in Boyes, l found some on eBay but may be too wide at 3/4 inch..😊
Wendy Simm 3/4 finished width is perfect. I trim away the first fold to sew on to the garment to make it narrower:)
Karina I really enjoy your videos, but there are just too many commercials.😞
