    Did you know you have vinyl flex hose connected to PEX fittings using PEX cinch clamps? Flex hose connected to PEX using Cinch clamps is actually agains residential code because it leaks, it’s not the right kind of connection. Good to keep an eye on those and replace with proper fittings at some point

    My friend had the same problem with his Lippert awning. We turned the roll by hand until we could insert a nail in the hole on the cup. This relieved the pressure on the roll and it was easier to push it in.

    The awning roller end cap screws were falling out on our camper as well. The end caps used to be secured with blind pulled rivets on the older models, so that’s how I repaired them. Just drill them out one at a time and replace the screws with rivets.

    I notice in the picture with all the plumbing lines visible some bad plumbing that should be addressed. There are Flex lines attached to Pex fittings with crimp Pex clamps. You can see the Flex lines swelling. They will eventually leak. That type of plumbing would not pass plumbing code anywhere in the country and the manufacturers know this but it's cheaper to do it this way and leaks will likely occur after the warranty expires. Shame on them and the RVIAA for not enforcing proper plumbing code. See Rigor RV Repair TH-cam channel for correction solutions. Good luck with it!

    When I winterize I blow all the lines out.....drain and flush the water heater then I use a long blow gun nozzle, put it in each drain cover with a rag and blow all the traps out. I then pour RV antifreeze in all the traps and toilet. I leave all faucets open. I have used this method since 1996 on 5 coaches and never had a problem. This procedure takes about 30 min tops. If I have used the fresh water tank I also use the low point drain and blow air into the fill. I then pump antifreeze into the pump for about 5 seconds. Total antifreeze use is less than 1 gallon

  • @johnsnyder8023
    @johnsnyder8023 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    You said you winterized, but you didn’t do it properly. You need to put significant antifreeze down all drains and toilets such that all elbows have antifreeze in them, instead of water. In addition to sucking it up in to the water lines via the aqua panel. Better luck with winterization next year!

    I say this about both our camper, and our motorcycles. If you don't have the ability to fix most things yourself, or the means to pay someone to do it right, don't own campers or motorcycles (or boats maybe, but I've never been a boat owner so I don't know). Stuff like this happens way more often than we all like to admit, and the ability to fix it yourself is extremely valuable, especially if you are on the road and in a pinch.

    I dump a whole gallon of anti-freeze down the drains in the RV after I run the lines and get some antifreeze into the drains/traps. Even then I worry that it's a water/antifreeze mix that will still cause issues. At least it looks like you have some good access to the problem area at least!

    I would definitely very carefully inspect everywhere that water could have gotten. If it's been leaking that long there's a good chance you've got mold and water damage in places other than what's very obvious from a initial inspection.

    Let it be a lesson and everyone else take note: After winterizing Always dump the remaining anti-freeze down all the drains to fill the traps. Even if you blow out with compressed air, the traps hold water so they have to be treated with anti-freeze.

    I think the only thing I would have done differently up to this point is leave the bottom open and put a shop fan in the compartment and one underneath the RV pointing up. Laminated floors are great until they get wet. With no floor joists there is no properly repair a laminated floor if there is extensive damage. Unfortunately I dealt with this in a Grand Design and it was pretty much a total loss. We have a local RV tech here who is awesome and he said there was just no good/safe way to fix the extensive damage I had.

  • @stuff3508
    @stuff3508 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Even if you use compressed air to blow out the lines, you need to use a good dose of plumbing antifreeze in ALL the traps AND the toilet(s). This will protect the tank drain valves also.

      Don’t forget the ice maker, washing machine and dishwasher if you have those appliances as well. RV washing machine is pretty simple: drain the water from the lint trap and replace the cap then dump a half gallon of antifreeze inside the machine and put the unit through a drain/spin cycle.

    While your in there fixing the shower drain pipe take a look at the braided flex tubing they have PEX clamps on them that’s a big No No .Braided flex’s line will leak PEX crimp fittings on flex tubing to PEX fittings.A lot of the manufacturers do it and it’s wrong and it’s causing most leaks people have.

    Did you try removing the tension on the awning and then push the cord back in? Another option might be to take the part you cut off and insert that into the other end to hold that end of the awning. I would worry about that end of the awning coming loose over time and start hanging.

    Sorry for the bad luck on the freeze damage. I know you do not do it much since you are south. But blowing lines out is wonderful for freeze like you get. But remember to pour rv anti freeze down all drains to flush the water out of the drains.

    In the recent past I had the same situation happen on our 5th wheel where the cord was protruding on the slide topper. I simply used a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the cord up close to the cover and slowly push it back into the groove. You will have to repeat this motion many times but it should get the job done. Work slowly and carefully not to destroy the cord.

    • @user-pp2ze4yq3m
      @user-pp2ze4yq3m 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup -- to do this properly you must get the tension off the topper. And aerosol silicone spray will become your best friend. Get the tension off the topper -- reinsert the cord into the topper edge -- secure the plastic cord with a screw at least at one end -- trim off the excess cord and as the Aussies say, "Bob's your uncle!" :)

A drain pan design and tube going out like our low water drain tubing make so much sense to me.

    One look at the underbelly of your RV indicates how horrendous the build quality is...
    miles of wires haphazardly strewn along the bottom of the RV, held up by only a small pine board, no zip ties, no wire loom, laying loose.
    Complete garbage.

      I can't even look. It gives me anxiety. These company's have no pride in their product. How much extra would it cost to use a few zip ties, and a little extra love in what they are doing? When your frame flexes, your roof leaks, when staples come popping out, and your plumbing leaks...It's covid fault.

      @@DOO718 RV manufactures have been running wires like crap forever......actually, they run wires like home builders run wires. Shortest route, quickest drops, and lack of attachment. They feel "out of sight out of mind" because for the most part, the failures occur when a wire is drilled through, not when it's just laying there.

NOT asking about financial assistance, just the locating, evaluating, and negotiating part. For example I have found a class A in Cleburne, TX but do not have RV purchasing experience and do not want to waste airfare without knowing it is a likely good deal worth purchasing.

    OK, I know you need the hits. That said, Why would you drop the lower panel before you looked for the leak in the basement area first. Leaks come from above, not below. Also, it is horrible the wiring that dropped down when you dropped the lower panel. Iv'e watched many videos of people dropping those panels and never seen that amount of wiring hanging. Horrible workmanship. That said, you have great videos.

      Remember, there's a floor system between the tanks the basement and the upper deck. There was no water leaking until you ran the shower, since it's the drain on the shower.. The budge coming from underneath the RV fold me into thinking there was no water trapped in it.
