- In this week's vlog our tiny floating home is moored up in the beyond idyllic village of Napton. We're taking some time off work to have a mini staycation, so come and explore the village with us. Featuring a walk up the hill (quite steep), an evening at the pub (very vibey), summer (remember that?) and lots of cosy countryside charm. PHEW!
Hope you enjoy coming on this little adventure with us 😊

Alternative title for this vlog is “please don’t swim in the canal 😬”
Do keep making these vlogs for a long time, won't you? They're SUCH a pleasure.
Ahh thank you so much, I definitely will 🥰
I have watched all your videos and can’t wait for the next one just love the scenery and the way you show it is beautiful…. And love the way you show us around the villages so lovely …You need to do another reading Catch up love seeing what books you have read … hope there is another video soon 📚💞📚
Just love the saying on the grave stone, "that'll do," you say it to the sheep dog when the task is done. Thank you both and take care.
I loved that too, really touching. Thank you ❤️
Babe!!! bah ram ewe 😂
"Fantastic moustache!" "Thank you, it grows on me" 😂😂😂 I want to be in that pub right now!
I know right, he was so ready haha

I’m out of superlatives for this channel!!!!😍😍😍
Ahh stop 😊
You capture the true beauty of the canals with your videos.
Thank you for yet another beautifully cinematic (and comical) vlog, peppered with a gloriously scrumptious voice over. Highlight of my week 🧡
Thanks so much, lovely to hear that!
Alternate dramatic TH-camr title - "We get eaten alive by THEM". Another very enjoyable vlog, Chris & Pamela 😀
Perfect!! Hahaha
Looking forward to many more amazing pub reviews, throw in some pub food reviews as well, we won’t mind. 🍺
Would love to do more meals out! But bloody expensive eating out these days, feels like you sit down and fifty quid has immediately left your account.
Well Napton and B. itchington look awesome . That roof!! Was that a dragon! The pub was fun, such a nice landlord. Andrew, you look very chic in Kris’s hat. I cannot believe those people were letting their children swim in the canal! I remember when you fell in Kris and oh my YUK! Loved that you finally posted. Got my Kris Atomic fix. Now go on…get on it and edit some more videos for us. We’re all waiting. Just kidding. Be well. Looking forward to the next one.🤣
One of my favorite couple's on the waterways
Please keep them coming
Thank you 🥰
The village of napton has jumped from a chocolate box ,so pretty .you’re artistic vlogs bring me pleasure to watch and I look forward to many more.❤
Thanks for another idilic piece of escapism! Perfect for another rainy night in London! 💗
Thank you for the lovely comment 🥰
Another gorgeous video 😍 and i love your gingham hat.
Hope the ants didn't fully move in 😬 and ARGH at swimming in the canal! Horror!
Love your whit and story telling! The pleasure you and Andrew have in the simplest thing is wonderful, By far my favorite vlog #1
Thanks so much, that’s very kind 🥰❤️
Nice - love the vibe: slightly camp, very engaged in pleasant visuals, circumspect hardships acknowledged. Catches the timeless pleasure of simply enclosed biologies leaning in. Lovely & v much appreciated!
Perfect review!! Thank you!
Don’t forget flying ants sting so be careful please. Have been to Cadillac ranch, by the looks of it pylon graveyard looks just as interesting, enjoyed your vlog guys thankyou.
It’s rather irritating that TH-cam only provides options to “Like” your Vlogs. Just install a “Love” button already! Another lovely Story Time from Land’s End …. ☺️♥️
Umm yes please- a pub rating system must be enacted!
Thanks so much, you're too kind 🥰
beautiful video as always 🥰
you might already know this but if you put black pepper on your ropes it stops the ants climbing up them! 🐜
Ahh thanks so much 🥰❤️ Didn’t know about the ants and pepper!! Great tip, will try it next time.
The Thames used to be known as the most polluted river in the UK and I’ve seen numerous people swimming in it. I mentioned it once and everyone got pissy at me🤣😂 there seems to be lots of people fishing in the annals as well, surely the don’t eat the fish? It was so pretty in and around the little town, everyone keeps their property looking spiffy🥰. Enjoy your summer sailing if it ever arrives this year. 🙋🏼♀️
I don’t think they eat the fish, I think they put them back. I hope so anyway!
You’re not wrong about the Thames. Not sure there’s any open body of water in this country that I’d swim in right now based on what’s been in the news about sewage companies dumping into them. Very sad because I love outdoor swimming, but it’s just not worth getting E. coli ☹️
Evening made! And the temperature of your vlog is finally matching with our temperature in Eastern Germany! 😅 Had 25 degrees today and I didn’t know what to do with myself. Lovely vlog as always! x
Twenty FIVE, delicious!! So happy to get out of my winter coat this week, feels like that was the longest winter of all time. Ty as always ❤️
We have been watching many British canal-based content since lockdown first started and we absolutely love your videos. I can't express how much we appreciate how your videos look and how well they capture the vibe that first made narrow boat life so appealing. As a freelance creative person myself it also feels like the way you approach boat life in the same way we would. Cheers!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment, it means a lot! x
Keep the good pub reviews coming. Thanks for another gentle view of summer along the canals.
Thank you! ☺️
Well I’m glad I already know you survived the invaders, because otherwise I’d be rather concerned. They are quite persistent, my rental apartment is terribly caulked and they keep getting in 😒
Andrew does look good in the hat!
The people have spoken!
Love these videos so much Kris. One always seems to pop up when I really need it. Gorgeous gorgeous closing shots 💛💛💛
That's really lovely to hear, I'm so glad!
Love the vlogs. Excellent photography. Lovely countryside especially as we are viewing from Central London.
All the best
Adrian and Geraldine
Thank you guys! ❤️
Another absolutely beautiful vlog! They're such a joy, and I always look forward to a new one. Best to you both : )
Thanks so much! 😊
I told you the buffalo ice cream was fab! What about getting bicycles? I have a folding e-bike on my boat…gamechanger..
We've considered it! We can't quite decide if a folding bike is better than just chucking a mountain bike on the roof, but we could really do with something.
Another stunning vlogs you put such a lot of work into your content and photography 📸 just love ❤️ your vlogs 🎉
Great blog as always, I believe it was a close race with the lawnmower. 😂
…any pub that plays The Band is a goodun!
…the hat is a goodun too - it suits both of you! The peak accentuates Andrew’s dark puppy dog eyes ;))
Looking forward to Oxford but have taken onboard - never make plans!! :p
Wishing you both a safe & speedy(!) passage. 🛟💦
Thanks so much! We do make it to Oxford… eventually 😆 after many many twists and turns haha
@@krisatomic Thank goodness. Will be waiting patiently for the next instalment - no other choice really! 😝
I saw that dragon thatching on the roof at Napton and I ran up the hill to the church a couple of times in the morning, very steep indeed but great views at the top isn’t it. Napton and braunston and my top 2 spots so far on my travels, I also like cropredy a lot
All great spots!
I think you should be the Official Pub Guide via the UK canals, you should definitely write the book.
Your videos are very entertaining, I love the way you show off our beautiful English countryside.
Keep them coming.
Cheers Millysue
You two are one of my favourites
🥰🥰🥰
i love yr vlogs. such gentle tales by the canal banks 🥰
Your determination to put the research in to categorise the pubs along the way surely puts you in line for an MBE or something similar. I was lucky enough to bump into Joe from The Voyage of Lydia, another canal vlog on YT last week when I was on my own boat in Cheshire. When I finally meet up with you we'll have a fashion competition. Thanks for the eclectic music and all the other stuff etc. Put some honey on the ropes.
Late to the viewing party as we had the eclipse. That because of heavy cloud coverage provided us with approximately 6 seconds of visibility. B*#*hinton was very nice. Napton’s hill looked like a killer! Was it steep 😂? Loved the story about the church on the hill and how it got there. Seems reasonable to me 🧐.
I absolutely loved the pub. The decor, the music, the whole atmosphere seemed so welcoming. I was very happy that you shared your hat, with the special hat attachment technology, with Andrew. Something is definitely going on with those pylons. Your visuals are all superb. The drone, and the night shots, as well as your choice of music. As another viewer wrote, I too am running out of superlatives. Hope you make it out of Braunston. As Andrew would say, with a bake, it is about The Journey. Thanks for taking us along. Till next time.
😊🤗 Kathy
💜💙💚
I love your videos. Keep them coming please.
Thank you! Always working on more 😎
Are you ever reminded of the Dahli’s mishap in Baltimore harbour during your tight maneuvers? Fortunately your navigation looks superior!
Luckily the worst damage we've caused has been taking out our horn a couple of times (no but jokes aside, the footage from the bridge collapse is so scary, hard to believe how it just collapses like that).
@@krisatomic container ships are gargantuan now compared to when the Key Bridge was built in 1970. Fortunately, they are banned from canals!
A total feast for the eyes as usual. This is some of the best stuff on youtube. The editing is so professional, music so relaxing, and the visuals so beautiful
Wow, thanks so much!
Love the pub and your appreciation of the pub, but most of all I loved your rat impression! Keep the vlogs coming! They are the best thing here on TH-cam.
Hahaha! Thanks so much 🥹
I’m not sure if you noticed but that hill was quite steep ❤️🙂
[unfit wheezing heard in background] hehe
I really love these boating life vlogs. So sad though to be on the water but not be able to swim in it? I mean, obviously don't go in the canal, but it is a bit of a shame?
It would be really nice, definitely! I would settle for the rivers being clean at least, that’s not even a given these days 😔
Thanks
Thank you! 😊
This is such a delightful treat to watch as I am home sick in bed. It always makes me feel like I'm on adventure with you both. And for that feeling alone I am always grateful when you post. On a side note - the children swimming in the canal made me cringe. Talk about ick factor.
Get well soon! x
Hello!
👋☺️
Napton looks idyllic
It really was dreamy!
15:06 .... i was just tucking into some weetabix.... thanks! 😅
Oh no haha, always stay alert! Sorry 😅
Sorry should have mentioned where there are rats in the water you can get a very nasty disease from swimming there, i was told that by a lockeeper on the weynavigation canal near ripley Surrey.
but why are there oranges in the canal???
It's a mystery for the ages!!
Ants need water when they behave like thar. Splash summa that ol turd water up thar forem.
I didn't know that, thanks for the tip!
