- A very good day TH-camr's and it's finally time for the first in my "Motorcycle Road Trips" series of videos.
In this 'season', I'll be riding across 6 Scottish Islands, including Arran, Mull, Skye, Harris, Orkney and Shetland. As if this wasn't enough, it'll be necessary to undertake 9 separate ferry journeys in order to achieve my goal.
For this first video however, join me as I introduce you to the motorcycle for this trip, a BMW R1200GS Adventure, also showing you the various bits of equipment I'll be taking, including camping and video kit.
It's going to be an experience.

Here's a man who has learnt to live his best life, beholden only to himself. I've watched him from the beginning with a mixture of admiration and awe. Very informative Kev. Enjoy your journey. The audio equipment you selected is excellent. Absolutely no buffeting as you spoke while riding the bike. I was expecting wind noise but there was none. Ta ta.
Thanks for that. The audio took a little bit of fiddling and experimenting but I think I've found a good balance between 'realism' and being able to understand me. :)

Afternoon Kevin. I can't tell you how excited we are to be coming "along for the ride" with you. Scotland is a place we hope to go to in a couple of years, so this will be like doing a REKKY job! Thanks for the video Kevin, always a treat to spend half an hour with our favourite YOU TUBER. We still both go "OOOOH" as in disappointment when the video is finished. Anyway Kevin, you take great care of yourself, you seem to be very prepared for what looks like a cracking few weeks touring. Wow. So cool. I’m excited for you and to watch the snippets/Shorts and the videos when they come. That bike is phenomenal. All that’s missing are wings to take off into the skies. Super organized. Can not wait to see the Scottish isles through your eyes. Glad you’re doing your own editing. It will be all you. First thing when I saw this video and your riding was fear for your safety. You’re experienced at riding I know. BE safe. What a blast you are in for. Oh……and your video started hearing the bikes engine. Not sure that was intentional because we all love hearing Aslan’s chugging right at the beginning of your videos. Hope you continue that with ……..does your bike have a name?

Hubby and I used to do day tours on our k75s. Loved that bike. Did manage to borrow an k1100LT for a weekend and do a couple day rides. Had a tank bag similar to yours and found it quite versatile and roomy. Have a great trip and safe travels!

Wow! Really looking forward to these adventures through the Scottish Islands! As an American I missed out on visiting Shetland when touring Scandinavia many years ago. Always regretted it. My next visit overseas must be the UK. But until then, I visit vicariously through you! Thank you, Kevin. Praying for your safety.
Being a former biker I'm looking forward to your tour. One tip: I found it useful to place either a folded tea-towel or duster between the tank and tank bag. These act as a cushion to prevent scratching the tank should any grit adhere to the underside of said tank bag. All the best.
