    I was actually looking at these two cars for my wife and after seeing that the civic was superior in the small overlap crash test I got my wife the corolla.

      I’ve had 4 Honda’s throughout my life, they are the Best! Just a few months ago I passed down my “2005” Honda Civic to my 16 yr old son. It has only 150k Original miles & we have Never had any problems with it. Of course the expected maintenance requirements bt it runs as well my 2015 Civic Ex except a little more cabin noise. Even the paint has held up amazingly on the 2005. No major repairs called for. These cars last nearly forever as long as you kp up your scheduled maintenance. I will say I was recently in a vry serious accident in my 2015 Civic. I was stopped & waiting to make my left hand turn when out of nowhere I was hit, Hard, by a Semi Truck who never even applied his brakes. My car felt like it flew through the air, it finally came to rest at 160 ft from where I got rammed. I was knocked unconscious bt when I awoke I looked in my rear view mirror, the Semi landed up int my back seat. I’m so impressed that my car (and God) kept me safe in what cld hve easily been a fatality. I jst recently went & bought another almost identical to my original. The trim is different. My other was an lx & the one I jst bought is an ex. I Loved my lx! I did test drive a few corollas, I wanted to love them bt I still choose Honda everyday over the Corolla. Not knocking the Corolla. I hve no doubt these are fantastic, safe & reliable cars.

    I love how Mazda owners always jump into discussions about Toyota and Honda. Look people, the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 are probably more fun to drive than their Toyota/Honda counterparts. That being said, NONE of these cars are "sports cars" or meant for racing. People buy these cars for reliability, re-sale value, safety, gas mileage, and THEN fun. If you want a car that zips around with authority, spend some more money.

      But mazda is in the same class. The mazda 3 & 6 aren't 'sports cars' either. The 3 competes against the civic and corolla and you get a better 'bang' for your buck. FYI I'm not a mazda owner but I think there's better options than Toyota and honda, American consumers are so brainwashed

    first car ever was the 2015 corolla LE and to this day its the best car ive ever had. Never had any issues or had to get it looked at. Never had any problem when it comes to space or anything, and for a compact car it actually has a TON of room. We owned a 2014 Honda Accord for a time and the corolla had more leg room in both the front and back seats than the Honda.Even tho i don't drive it currently i gave the car to my little sister who loves it and STILL has not experienced a single problem.

    I've driven both the Corolla and the Civic. I personally like the Civic better, and I haven't looked back at all. The ride was smoother to me, and the civic's offerings appealed to me more. I hear a lot about the civic's exterior but really? im glad it's not a typical vanilla looking car. However that doesn't make Corolla any less of a car. My thought from the get go was either a Toyota or a Honda for reliability and resale value.

    Just test drove both these cars in the past week. My one gripe about Honda is the touchy gas pedal. If you are at a complete stop and press hard on the pedal it skids and jerks where as the corolla will just smoothly accelerate.

My mother in law and cousin own and have onwned Corollas have swear by there reliability however I find the interior small for me. Yes the Corolla might have comfy seats but at 6'5" I found this model of Civic to be way more roomy inside.

    I have driven both extensively. Love both. The corolla has more legroom in the back and comfier seats overall. Hard to nitpick much else. I also have a 4 year old meaning the car seat for the seems to fit nicer in the corolla but not to say you couldn’t put it in the civic. I know it’s a weird thing but if you’re a dad but still want a compact sedan...there you have it

    In this comparison I would choose the Corolla. Over the years it has ranked slightly better than the Civic in reliability, it's cheaper, it's roomier, it's comfy, and LED headlights. I test drove both and the Civic was my first choice but when I read the Corolla is just a better deal I'd much rather have the Corolla.

      +rocker1821 The Corolla a joy? Not in my opinion. I've been driving one as a rental for two days since some old lady rear ended my 2014 Impala so it's being repaired, and I cannot wait to give this tin can back to Hertz from whence it came. It is noisy, squeaks, can't get out of its own way, is full of cheap ass hard plastic materials as far as the eye can see, and the seats are killing my back. My 1995 Maxima is a nicer car than this pos Corolla I've been driving. I can honestly say I am puzzled by the Corolla's popularity, as to me, it's just terrible. Oh, and the fake molded stitching was a nice touch, Toyota. Just laughable.

    I own a 09 Civic LX and in less than 5 years the paint on the roof have started to fade and turn white, the front side panel paint have started to crack and the trunk is also fading. It is so well spread that they have issued a paint warranty extension to some owners, but many do not know about them. Because it isn't a safety problem they are not required to fix it for you but who wants to drive a car with faded and cracked paint? There are cars much older that don't have this sort of problem. Needless to say I will never buy another Civic nor another Honda for that matter.

    I'll take the Civic, hands down...
    Way more technology, way more reliable, way more efficient, way more easy to live with... Specially with the regular headlamps... Those LED lights in the Corolla are cool, as long as they dont decide to not work properly.
    I personally see the Civic more stylish, elegant and mature. The Corolla is still too "loud", like always needing to call the attention with flashy and busy stuffs, while the Civic calls the attention with the beauty of simplicity... With its performance, the functionality of its design and its sleek elegant yet sporty lines... IMO.

      +prettyrickyd47 well, I am an Honda owner since years ago, and I have also owned cars from other brands, and I can say that a Honda is way more reliable than a Toyota, especially new Toyotas...
      I am not a fanboy, as I said, I have owned other brands, I actually own a Hyundai, that has been a good car for 10 years, but nothing beats the reliability of my CR-V 2000, the Civic 1984 That I had (I sold it) and my Civic 2015...
      I have driven many Toyotas, none of them have impressed me since 1995...

    • @wtrdogg20
      @wtrdogg20 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +prettyrickyd47 Not for me and not for many more car owners...
      Learn something about those "statistics", Toyota WAS really good and reliable in the 90s, they keep enjoying that fame now because the huge amount of units they sold by then, and as a result, many of them are still running and those are the one that makes the numbers, not the more recent purchase... Another brand extremelly reliable is Subaru, but you dont see much about those numbers because that car is not too popular... You can also add the Toyota marketing on media... Just consider this, what car manufacturer can be so reliable that was risponsible of the major recall in the cars industry history, with fatal victims, bigger than the Bridgestone tires Ford Recall in the 90s?
      Toyota is now a brand with a fame built in the 90s, but with models and technology that cant back up that fame anymore... Those are not bad cars, but they are not as good as they used to be.
      In my opinion, the only good line up from Toyota is the Land Cruiser... Besides that, they are just overpriced and overrated.

    My girlfriend recently got the new Corolla and it's a great little car. We liked it so much with didn't bother to look at the Civic, even though i'm generally a Honda person. What I like most about the Corolla is the interior. Everything is laid out very nicely and I love the horizontal design. And wow the space. This car has tons of head and leg room, its ridiculous. ex Toyota technician here. the corolla and camry seat supports give way to metal structure and of course the honda manual transmission is better I don't know anyone who would pick a Toyota trans over honda.

    I bought a '14 Jetta after I test drove every car in this segment and I couldn't be happier after 1 year. I was sold on the 1.8T which crushed every other engine I test drove, especially Corolla. Also, anyone complaining about materials in the Jetta, other than maybe a Mazda3, they are basically comparable to every car in this class

    • @monk3yboy69
      @monk3yboy69 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yoyoluc You see, there is the problem with the current Jetta (A6) when you say it (the materials ) is comparable with all the others in its class.
      VW Jetta was always the superior car for quality of materials, build and design in the past. This new Jetta is shocking. Cheap hard plastics everywhere. The door trims are a joke. Compare them to the Jetta A5 or the Jetta A4 before that and you can see the decline. Back then none of the other cars in this segment came close to a Jetta.
      A Jetta used to be good German engineering and class leading materials and finishes. You paid for it, but it was worth it. Now, I would not waste the extra money on a Jetta, when as you say, you can have a Mazda which is better.
      God help us all!!! LOL

    I've driven a 2015 Toyota Corolla LE-Plus for 4k miles. There are things I like, like the new interior and illuminated guages that are big and easy to read. However, the car does not track as well as my 2006 Corolla - it seems to wander a bit, and it feels like it's going to roll when going around curves at speed - also, I don't like the CVT transmission. It always seems like you're starting out in high gear, and you don't get instant torque if you want to take off quickly. If you try, the engine over-revs, and you don't get power. It also over-revs if you start out on a hill. When it over-revs, it's noisy. It really needs a low gear. If I could have the old 4 speed auto trans back, I'd be happier.

    I would choose Toyota out of any car at the moment as for I have had two Toyota's in the past and they never die! my 04 sienna has well over 400,000 kilometers and it has never been in a shop once except for oil changes and tire changes. Same goes for the lexus. It only has 200,000km on it but it also is running strong, problem free. If it was not for those reasons I would probably give mazda a go. They look cool and get great mileage.

    does the corolla have the same steering issues as the civic? I have a 2015 Honda civic and it's impossible to steer straight on the freeway... been through 2 sets of tires and 2 alignments with no improvement. I think Honda dropped the ball on their electronic steering setup. really dangerous to be wandering all over on the highway imo...I hate this car due to its lack of handling!

    Right now i'm looking to trade in my garbage 2012 ford focus for one of those 2 greats cars. I tried the Toyota and the Honda and both are excellent. The Honda has more technologies and lot more gadgets inside and the Toyota is more class in my opinion. I see the civic more as a ''cool'' car and the corolla more as a car for man. The visibility in the corolla is better for me than the civic, but again the civic is more fun to drive because of the gadget and light etc... All is a question of priority, my choice is the Toyota corolla.
