This is a really great cover. Whenever I am about to listen to somebody cover a song I love I always expect to hate it. Not sure if that is because I am just naturally pessimistic or because most covers of great songs are not very good. But this genuinely made me smile. My favourite cover of a Joy Division song is Girls Against Boys cover of She's Lost Control but this is right up there. I'm glad I discovered it.
Where do I begin…? I don’t know why I clicked on this out of all the covers to choose from. I thought to myself, this cannot be decent because the drummer is using brushes, I saw a semi hollow body guitar, and a banjo. There is no way that this could’ve worked, as what I thought. Then the music started. And it was decent at first. And that’s exactly how the Joy Division song starts off, also. Just decent. But then the music started driving. And the angelic voice of the singer started to really enthralled me. Then I noticed how well the brushes worked in place of drumsticks. And let’s not forget the banjo… Perfect accompaniment to the ethereal voice of the singer, and filled out the sound in the most spectacular way. Like so many others, I applaud your decision to go low in place of the crescendo in the song. To me, there were definitely changes of Cowboy Junkies, Neko Case, and probably some others that I’m forgetting that’s a good thing, but it was also original more than anything else very well done and thank you for sharing. You three truly are musicians.
They get my thumbs up.And yep, that's just another opinion in the comment section...But the opinion of someone who has been listening to Joy Division since before this band's members were born(probably, I am 51 and have listened to JD since my teens).
Well, this is what a cover should be imho. I've never understood covers that try to sound exactly like the original. I want to see interesting instrumentation like this, and an attempt to grab the spirit of originals but not to be a carbon copy as it loses the soul. Excellent.
I got chills at the point they replaced the loud climax of the song with spooky, quiet, atmospheric. Brilliant.
Absolutely one of the best covers of a Joy Division song ever. Up there with Galaxy 500’s cover of ceremony.
you are out of your mind dude
Beautiful cover

This is such a wonderful cover. So nailed it. I can truly see Ian smiling.
This is such above stellar and ethereal there are no words…
a successful and unique cover - that catches Ian's lyric spirit well
not sure what made me search for joy division covers this evening, but this was a good start....

Always risky to play a JD cover, I loved the approach
Her voice, the guitar , the drums, all laughable , death by beardies banjo would be my sentence.
Absolutely perfect.
Wonderful cover by an amazing band!
Lindo....
Brasil / 2023.

Me gustó mucho este cover. Dentro de su propio estilo pero tan oscuro como el original

Music only works if it comes from the performers soul!! I agree 100% and her vocal control deserves to be shown off like that for sure
👍
