I've been in awe of Flek since a military instructor turned me on to his Flektones ensemble back in the 1990s. But, I gotta say...sometimes if he doesn't wake up fast enough he sounds like a harpsichord player..until he does wake up. Then..holy crap.
Amazing playing indeed but just what we expect from these musicians. Incidentally I am nitpicking but strictly speaking this is probably not bluegrass but more based on clawhammer style that predates bluegrass as usually understood.
This performance is a testament to this duo as musicians. They keep incredible time and energy with no percussion. Abigail makes clawhammer work with hair metal, and makes it sound awesome. Plus that’s not even 20% of Bela’s speed or power on the five. It’s awesome
I dont even like this song. I hate the original since it sounds like some parady of wretched overblown pretentious importance. But This I like. True musicianship.

Bela Fleck is certainly one of the masters -- in my opinion (as a classical pianist), he's one of the greatest musicians ever to have lived.
