Well done. Many years ago I purchased small, sharp pointed scissors for cutting threads but soon put them to work trimming necklines and other areas thar need precise trims. Ir was a game changer for me. One of the best tools I bought for my sewing room. You blouse is very cute on you. What a versatile addition to any wardrobe.👍
Your top turned out so pretty, and I can tell you really love it, except for that tiny flaw at the bottom of the V-neck. I suggest you turn it back right sides together and restitch by machine, stitching just about a quarter of an inch farther down. Then carefully pick out the previous stitches, turn right sides out and press. If you've understitched the facing, you'll have to unpick that enough to flip the facing back inside to do this. Anyway, it won't make your neckline very much deeper and you'll still be able to achieve that neat finish. The fray check was a great idea! Thank you for the thorough review!
Hey I live in Florida too 🌴. Great information! Sew glad you are doing a beginners series. Someone just asked me about that on my channel. I will be sure to refer her to you. 😊✂️🧵.
Since that top and other patterns tend to be too big in the shoulders, consider using your high bust as how you determine your pattern size. I learned this in various sewing resources including a tip from a lecturer at a Sewing conference in 2018. Enlarging the bust is a simpler adjustment to make than changing how the shoulders / armholes/neck fit.
Thanks for another helpful video! I think those pointy necklines are always a pain. I had a friend tell me to stitch down to the point, take one stitch over horizontally, and then pivot to stitch up the other side. You can also reinforce that horizontal stitch by going over it (back and then forward again.) It is supposed to help with turning and having a crisp point. Your blouse is really cute! Where do you buy Cotton + Steel rayon challis?
The fabric is so pretty! Definitely a good choice! It looks super flattering on you as well. I'm curious what serger you have. I'm looking into getting one.
Thank you for your review but I think you're being overly kind to Butterick. You made no mistakes and merely followed their instruction. In my experience they very often miss out steps , and worse, they print wrong instructions. I'm in the middle of Butterick 6632 and the neckline instructions would beggar belief. It will be my last from Butterick. As an experienced sewer I will manage to finish it, but it will be from my own ingenuity and not from any help from Butterick.

Well done. I've never heard of that stuff that stiffens floppy fabric, such a great idea.
I would love to see the more detailed video. Also, what is glue baste and fray check?

Do you find the pattern runs small? I would never think you’re a 14
My waistline is disproportionately large compared to my bust and hips. I don't think it runs small, if anything either true to size or a little big.
Sewing Report Thank you! I have disproportionately large upper arms, so I’m very excited about this sleeve!
As the horse gallops.... no one sees the errors!!
