Thomas Sutherland Truly. I believe Sartre was onto something, but missed it due to his prejudice. My gut literally talks to me. People have known this since ancient times. The phrase "a healthy mind in a healthy body" sums it up pretty well. Perhaps with all of our distractions today we ignore our physical or mental health and, if not corrected, both can spiral downward.

I cannot control my daily feeling at the beginning of each day. I cannot control my brain, it just control my mind and mood. I also had discomfort in my gut during that time. However one day I remembered that I have jungle honey and home made enzymes. I took some one day and then I began to recover. I’m 34 now and I still have a wash out at least twice a year and I feel way better after it. Also a walk after dinner was a common thing growing up. From my experience, i have felt very bad mood swings and depression and a very overall crappy feeling for days if i play competitive video games. When i play these games i often am in Flight or Fight mode, constantly releasing adrenaline and cortisol and my stomach feels not easy, feels tight. These games require you to have full focus with very fast reflexes so it leaves my body feeling on edge. Ive noticed if i dont play these high intensity competitive video games, yes i might not have that fun feeling while playing, but if i just chillout and watch tv instead, i feel more stable and in a better mood, and the next day at work i feel much better overall too. High stress video games really bothered my gut and mental health

I have somehow always known this as I have always had depression and anxiety and I always felt it in my stomach. I have had what I was told is a "sensitive" stomach. I remember telling a therapist once that I wish I could take a knife and cut that part of my stomach out, that's how nasty it felt to me. Of course, in therapy such talk, back then did NOT go over well and I ended up in the psyche hosp. But, somehow I have always known there should be some kind of study on this because I could simply tell there was a connection in my own personal life and I am nowhere near being a doctor, but sometimes you just "know", even when the "experts" don't.

I can tell you this Grammy Rose with a fair degree of certainty; you DO know - and not just sometimes I’d wager.
I was lucky that on my 4th visit to hospital with a raging fever that the physician I got said; “tell me what’s going on in your body?” I told him I thought I had sepsis. “I agree” he said, “let’s get you to intensive care.” I was actually in septic shock with pulmonary septic emboli. I’d been sent home three times over 11 days by other doctors.
I’ve played the dodge psyche game on a few occasions over the last 30 years, given a diagnosis of CFS aged 14. For the past 8 years I’ve been fighting mast cell activation syndrome and gastrointestinal failure. I had to nearly lose my life before anybody took my gut symptoms seriously… like you I had a sensitive stomach, and apparently an inability to handle every day sensations, perceiving them as ‘pain’. I started eliminating each one and the withdrawals from pornography has been extremely rough which is one of the reasons my depression but on the flip side of the things that I've been doing that's been improving me very well is wim Hof's method, sauna, working out, journaling, cold shower / plunges, Get it into a hobby, giving back to the community / volunteer, being out more nature, changing your diet, And also traveling getting out there socializing instead of being on a phones 24/7. Once I was drinking fresh milk straight from a cow for a few days. I was making milkshake with it so quite lot of milk. After some time I started feel anxious and didn't know why. It was so serious that I thought I migt need to see a doctor, I was shaking in anxiety. It was just a feeling, my gut didn't hurt or anything. I read somewhere that it can be caused by lot of protein from milk, meat etc. Maybe some other substance from the milk caused it. My brother had the same feelings so we stopped drinking the milk and it never happened again. So I really believe that your mood can be affected by food. It's a good thing because you can easily change it or at least try it before taking pills.

I watched the documentary brain gut connection. Very informative. My son received my kidney when he was seven years old. For about the first nine months, he landed in the hospital numerous times. I decided I needed to do something different so I did a lot of research on nutrition. I changed our entire families diet buying nothing that was processed, very few canned goods, we incorporated a salad every night prior to dinner, and went to almost all whole grains. He was not hospitalized again for years after that and few of his anti-rejection medicines had to be changed. He is 26 years old now and still has that kidney. Additionally, the entire family got healthier. There was a bit of a fight over the whole wheat bread and natural peanut butter but I won out. And I was able to win that battle based on the results we were seeing in our own lives.

Perfectly said Dr. Mayer, thanks. My MSc degree thesis was in nutrition and I have worked academically and commercially in various countries for 35 years and have been saying basically the same things you mentioned since then. I observed with my own eyes "quasi-miracles" with the use of probiotics. The Japanese, where I worked partially for my MSc thesis, have been recommending this for decades. Wheren't them, at least one of the first ones, to recommend, the now world known, Yakult?
I have no doubt whasoever that probiotics will play each time a more important role in human (and animal) nutrition and health, in many areas. It is narrow-minded naive to believe that all bacteria are bad. What we have to do is to select and promote the good/beneficial bacteria and other microorganisms and provide or induce them to "take the place" (at least in a greater extent) of the bad ones in our bodies and enviroments.
Am confident that in a not distant future we will have toothpastes, bath soaps, foods, detergents etc that will provide good/beneficial bacteria instead of trying to kill them all. How many billion years they've been on earth, surviving and triving in all types of ambient circunstances? Humans are just children in this planet though the damage we made to the "mother nature" (Gaia) is growing to be irreversible, soon.

Soy protein, soy lecithin, any soy but soybean oil, which I don't eat anyway. It's in bread, chocolate, lots of processed food. Apparently it's a plant based estrogen.

Maybe diarrhoea, not in all cases, is an indication of next advance of body's healing ability to get rid of, rather than accumulation, which translates to one's ability to question and relinquish old thought patterns, beliefs etc.

Been to a doctor once in about 50 years. I’m a big believer that the way you use your mind controls your health. Particularly the all powerful subconscious mind which acts upon what you feed into it from the conscious mind. A classic example is the hypochondriac, the person who worries themselves stupid about getting a sickness or disease, and it’s documented that there are many cases where those people get what they worry about. That’s feeding negative thoughts into the subconscious. The opposite can be found in top sports people, or other high achievers. Show me a top sports person who doesn’t believe in themselves. There is no such animal. That’s the positive affirmation to the subconscious. I do the opposite of the hypochondriac, I refuse to get sick, and firmly believe I won’t, and that’s regardless of what I eat. So-called health food is only healthy if you think it is. It’s like the placebo affect. If you want to be healthy then worry about absolutely nothing and you will be.

From Sigmund Freud approximately 120 years ago, "before self- diagnosing for depression and mental illness, first check for the fact that you are just surrounded by assholes".
Sigmund is normally a very polite and considerate speaking gentleman, and I'm fairly sure the impolite term refers to arrogance, selfishness, and disrespectful people. Also, these days our surrounds, our influence of disposition, includes the world of people via an internet, and movies.
How, and for what we use technology, is and will be furthermore the greatest hindrance to human evolution. Which means it is the nature of intention in thought, word and action that is the casual realm, yet to be addressed.

I think for me my depression mainly comes from the way the world is. How we are forced into work and how it functions. I am not interested in work, I am not happy working. Most people will probably say well you have to work and I do work, because I have to, in order to be deemed valuable in society. That is sad. I get that there isn’t really a way out of this. But if it wasn’t for the big people at the top wanting to control people so that they can keep us in our place, then the world could actually manage without everyone having to be constantly working. It’s so frustrating because I know what I’m talking about, but it’s not going to change. Sometimes I do like working, but when you are feeling trapped, it is not good. I am not interested in going any higher up in my work, I am really only working because I literally have to.

That being said something that has helped me as someone with little motivation is forcing myself daily to do something i dont want to do. This has led to improvements in my mental health, ive lost 75lbs, became a better person to those around me, and much more. For me thats working out right now everyday. Ive started to enjoy jobs/tasks that other people would find undesirable because ive been training my mind to enjoy completing something i dont want to do every…single…day. To me, thats how people become happy with “work” it isnt that the work is truly making them happy, its that it brings balance to their life and makes the good times enjoyable. If all you have is leisure and the ability to do what you want, that very soon becomes hell (at least in my experience). Do what you want in life! Its your life. Gave this a “thumbs up” in summer 2021… I’ve found this all to be valid after reading Dr Perlmutter and using the probiotic formulas his company produces. Very glad for this research and for any additional info about this topic. Personally, I wish I had known about this before using Prozac because, for me, the right probiotics worked far better than Prozac and without the terrible side effects and addiction associated with SSRI drugs.

Just being pedantic for a moment ... the original brain is actually the gut's brain, and the rest of the nervous system evolved as an extension of that original brain:
"The study, led by Professor Nick Spencer at Flinders University, maintains that the ENS in the gut is the 'first brain' and that it evolved long before the brain as we know it, in humans."

That's very interesting,I feel my emotions in my gut ,not in my brain ,I always say that to people ,they look at me like I am crazy, but I know my guts emotions are stronger than any thoughts in my brain,I can fool my brain with positive thinking ,but I can't fool my gut

What if you don’t have a large intestine? I had my entire large intestine removed a few years ago after developing toxin mega colon from having Crohn’s disease. One of my biggest complaints after my surgery is that I don’t feel anything like the person I was before surgery.

I'm stunned! Dr Mayer presented a key essay here, very much relevant in 2022. That Crohn's leaves people crippled, yet it's not comprehensively addressed 😯 because it's felt a relative few are affected!! I simply have food sensitivities and fundamentally the dysfunction began a havoc on my mind and body! That you, can't be yourself post operativly, speaks volumes to me about the missing question you ask. Supermarket shelves are stacked with processed corruptions, farming now poses only profit related enhancements, not wholesome outcomes. Our relationship with food is wrong, because it's not just your life changed, many have no idea until their kidneys are blown, that physiologically, they're in trouble! Your body reacted, many have no inkling, they suffer unnatural deterioration. It's an experience, I guess. Good luck to you in the future 😌!

Mark Innes totally, i think personally from what the video made me realize, is that the "Gut" and our brain are fully connected, through all of what that Dr. said of course, but also in a sense, of what i understood, is our capability to process emotions, as i said up there. Having a "gut feeling" to me became physical with the explanation of the Gut.

This is such annoying bs for several reasons. First of all; most depression we see today is deeply connected to our dysfunctional lifestyle and early childhood development; if you study ecology and developmenal psychology, this suddenly sense. Western society unfortunately ignores the organism environment principia and our basic needs as humans, mammals, social creatures. Instead, we pretend like it's a purely chemical based problem. This may for some individuals, but we no zero evidence for that. Sadly, most people are disconnected from their self, emotions and their needs. It's somehow more easy for the ego to pretend that we have a medical condition that needs medical intervention than it is to understand that we have biopsychosocial needs, shitty upbringing etc. People are scared as hell to call out their parents because we have this immature culture that can't accept responsibility without blaming and shaming. Thus, we just ignore confronting them all together and take pills instead of working on our relationships and our selves to the world. Everyone growing up should learn about attachment theory and developmental psychology, period. You'll start understanding how and why people around are so fucked up and dysfunctional, you included. Depression is not a fucking gut problem, it's a primarily a psychosocial problem due to unmet needs and depression of emotions. Depressiin is what happens for many people when they are overwhelmed with psychological problems, people just don't want to see what is behind the mask of a person, it's too scary and painful, so we must blame it on some bacteria or chemical reasoning. Then there's the people they have no reason to be depressed. Takes two minutes to dig into the early childhood to expose dysfunctions. There are cases of brain tumors and other diseases that may cause depression. Again, this is not the what most people are suffering from. If you want to get rid of depression you need to dig deep my friend. Depression is actually a coping mechanism that some people adopt. People don't care to understand this so they never grow out of it. My depressions ended after over 12 years on and off since age 14.

Very curious whether the damage done to intestinal flora from an antibiotic like Clindamycin, which I recently took for a leg infection, might have contributed to a bad bout of depression that hit me a few days after finishing the antibiotics (along with mild diarrhea and other Clindamycin side effects), and which I'm still dealing with, though the infection is healing up nicely. Basically my good bacteria were pretty well wiped out (and I'm taking some probiotics to help prevent C diff), but I feel like crap, and am more depressed than I've been in a long time, though I felt pretty good last week. I'm not taking any other medications, just some nutritional supplements, but what's your opinion on the connection between powerful antibiotics and depression (though diarrhea is more of an issue in this case than "constipation" is). Thank you... and thanks for the video!

bookguitarguy ive had ibs diarhea since i was about 15 about same time my mind fell apart. Ive tried probiotics didnt help. now 22 dealt with this for years. Recently tried digestive enzymes. This shit is a breakthrough.gets rid of the excess bacteria build up in the stomach (candida) and helps your stomach better absorb food. Now taking probiotics with digestive enzymes so they actually digest and feeling much better but due to digestive enzymes absorbing food for brain nutrition. On top of that i am taking glutamine to rebuild stomach and fibre from bananas to help stomach. This combo has helped me and seeing a difference 2 days in. Stomacg feeling better still have a nervous gut but i am slowly inproving . Try it out digestive enZymes - swanson brand works well.

      Webmd:
      Natural Sources of Digestive Enzymes
Fruits, vegetables, and other foods have natural digestive enzymes. Eating them can improve your digestion.
Honey, especially the raw kind, has amylase and protease.
Mangoes and bananas have amylase, which also helps the fruit to ripen.
Papaya has a type of protease called papain.
Avocados have the digestive enzyme lipase.
Sauerkraut, or fermented cabbage, picks up digestive enzymes during the fermentation process.

Try finding PRE-biotic foods and only eating those foods.
      I experienced a similar situation,
The probiotic pills didn’t work as well as FOOD that contains good PRE biotics, my stomach immediately calmed and sent signals to the brain as if to say, “jeeeez thank you! Enough tobacco, and coffee thank you!”
Trust me. Look for a list of foods with Prebiotics.
      No smoking
      No drinking
      No caffiene

Any research to see if glyphosate damages gut health that affects depression?

    • @maricamaas2326
      @maricamaas2326 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Glyphosate is a water-soluble antibiotic; had infiltrated our food and water supplies, and is now found even in breast milk an rain water. It certainly will be disruptive to brain's function: LEAKY GUT = LEAKY BRAIN = LEAKY ALL ORGANS. Glyphosate also causes cancer.
