- The Mustang GT for years has been modified by owners, but is it the best platform to take to the next level. Under the hood is the 5.0L Coyote V8 mated to the fast shifting 10-speed automatic transmission. It's exterior has some of the familiar lines of the Mustangs from the past. On the inside you have a cockpit that is ready for the drag strip. Is the 2020 Ford Mustang GT the BEST new Muscle car for mods?

@@siggifredoaguilar7421 i’m not gonna gas it up and make it seem badass. but it’s okay. i got the 6 speed. i do love it tho and for a still stock car... it’s not FAST but it’s fast yk? i got the 301A package so i got a couple bells and whistles. put some PP1 wheels on it, dropped her on sportlines with 1” spacers. and got MBRP race exhaust. looks like a completely different car. I love it tho and i’m 100% happy with it ❤️

@@tyronesmith6921 it’s factory tuned or whatever to run optimally on 87.. but before gas prices rose i always put 93 in and it ran way better. still on stock tune btw

I love my 2019 GT. I bought it new a year and half ago since it's just a weekend toy I only have 4500 miles but everytime I start her up for a drive I always get excited lol. I've had several Mustangs over the past 2 decades and this is definitely on a totally different level. It strikes the perfect balance of a sports car sophistication and muscle car character and brashness. 😎

idc if the 10 speed auto is faster technically , the driver in me wants the 6 speed manual . i feel like i would get so much more enjoyment out of the car . 50 years from now the manual would be more valuable as well.
If only the manuals for more reliable they've been having so many problems with those 6 speeds they are garbage.

I bought a 2019. Base GT. Most of the fun for me is adding to the platform.
I'm up to 525 at the wheels and I made that jump easily.

Regardless, I'm glad I went Mustang and the 10 speed 10R80 running high 11's at the strip.

Bought a 2020 GT in silver with black accents last month, absolutely love it! It's a daily driver and I actually use the back seat for my kids - no zonk for the manual lever to adjust the seat back. It actually works really well. You adjust it with the side lever to where you like it but if someone gets in/out of the back seat they use the handle on the back below the headrest and it leans forward all the way. Push the seatback back and it goes to where you set it with the side lever. If it were electric, it would take too long to get in/out of the back seat.
Ill take the Mustang GT over the Camaro SS

Another great Mustang review. This GT has a great balance to it! I though for sure when Joe opened up the center arm rest he was going to say there's plenty of room to store all of your speeding tickets in there LOL.

Sweet color combo. As Joe says if you’re going to get something like a Mustang why not go for a fun color. I wish the interior of Mustangs would offer more colourful options inside instead of black and grey.
I have yet to see a mustang with my red interior. It just makes the car POP and stand out.

I have the 5.0 6 speed 400A premium performance package with active exhaust in twister orange ordered with dual black stripes. Should arrive mid April. Stoked !!!

Many thanks for a great review ! I recently took delivery of a 2019 Shelby GT-S Mustang in Fury Orange Metallic TriCoat. It is a used
SIXT Rent a Car that I had previously rented at LAX last September. It has 12,300 miles on it, of which I put on about 500 when I rented it. It also has the ten-speed automatic which is fantastic and can out think me if I had a six-speed manual. I was cruising with one of my daughters up and down PCH while playing leapfrog with a McLaren. We were all waving at each other laughing and smiling all the way. SIXT got together with Shelby Las Vegas and ordered 21 of these Mustangs, but only four are in Fury Orange. The rest are black with orange stripes and black wheels. My wheels are bright silver which looks great with the Orange. The car I got is Shelby Registry 19SXT0021. The car is absolutely loaded with options, including upgraded sound system, navigation, BLIS, magnetic ride and GT Performance Package. Keep in mind that these SIXT Shelbys are SUPERCHARGED, cranking out 610 HP. This is the same Supercharger as in the new GT500. I was in New York at the Worlds Fair in 1964 when the Mustang was first shown. I had got off my Nuclear Submarine was went down to NYC for the Fair. I saved a lot of money while in the Navy, for a car like this. You can't spend your money while under water for months at a time!
black wheels look horrible with this color and most colors for that matter. well done on the silver wheels and also congrats on having zero claustrophobia (submarine).

Good thing about the Mustang GTs is that they're getting cheaper and cheaper each week because of the virus. I've seen new base GTs well under 30k in my area, I'm really considering one, but I'm going to wait for the prices to drop more haha.

Which dealership is that? The one here in my town (tallahassee) is still trying to get 37-45K for them lmao. I would never pay that much. I plan on getting one at the end of the year once I have a good down payment.

I have the same trim, base GT with the black accent package, though mine is 2019 and Shadow Black. I love love love it! Though for me, only minor mods until my warranty is over. Great review!

I had a 2015 mustang GT and traded it in for a 2018 GT because I wanted the little bit more of stock horsepower but I also was pleasantly surprised when I was driving my 2018 GT from the dealership and Quickly realized that the chasis and suspension was a lot tighter and improved upon from the 2015!!! another thing I Love about my 2018 GT is that it has a cd player and I get to choose my music the 2020 doesn't have a cd player anymore :( Lol

i say it is not just because its my favorite car but just to support that statement up here in ohio we have a city called lebanon ohio and at lebanon ford they make supercharged or turbo charged mustangs right out the gate for 42,000 that is a steal with warranty cars making 700 to 775 right out the gate its a beautiful thing one day at the right time im definitely going to grab one if i cant grab a gt500
Guess I am ahead of the curve .. LOL ... We bought ours in August of 2018 ... we ordered it a few months before ... it is a 2019 White 5.0 California Special Edition has the active exhaust, automatic and the new digital dash. Love the freaking thing ... it is not a daily driver and only have 4k miles right now. Every time it goes out ... triple digits ;-) and the exhaust is ALWAYS set to track mode ... LOL ....
The first Mustang of this generation that I saw was at a car show celebrating the 50th anniversary was a preproduction orange one just like that.
The sweet spot of the Mustang lineup for me. And the perfect color, too! Keep those Mustang reviews coming, Joe! :)
I love the 18+ front end. I think it looks like a sportscar more then a muscle car but in a good way. Also had a 15 and thought the front end looked good but aged quickly.
For me its the Opposite. I feel like the 15 looks more of a sports car. The 18 looks aggressive on the road and when approaching from behind. Just looks meaner and more muscle in my opinion as where the 15s just looks more sporty/cruiser/ I4-V6 worthy while 28 looks V8 worthy
My local mechanic gave me some cause for pause regarding active exhausts. He said that cars with them in cold climates could have problems with the valves opening and closing due to corrosion from winter chemicals and freezing from snow. I guess something else to worry about.
My friend's 2019 GT just turned 8,000 mils and is starting the (Normal) tick under the motor ! What a bummer ! You would think all of this has got to affect Mustang sales !?

No, No supercharger on a road course is a bad idea unless the car is built as a road racer like the Shelby GT500.

As we enter the third year of this current variant (2018 on), we also should have a car that has had the new variant/model "kinks" worked out, i.e. a good time to buy a particular car. You never want to be an early adopter of a new car/model. Always wait until it's been in production for a couple of years.

Joe I feel the only thing that the channel missing is the POV camera. It will give us as viewers even a better feel and view to really join you in your rides as you smoke the competition and go through these twisty roads. You can make a 1000HP easy but you your risking blowing the motor. Gotta upgrade the Oil pump gear and Crank Gear once you get past the 800ish mark. I love my 15 GT and will be adding a Supercharger. But only wanna make 600-700HP. That's plenty for a weekend fun car.
Like the exterior minus the hideous 19 inch ugly wheels, but I hate the interior especially the steering wheel. Hey Joe, have you had a chance to peep the 2020 Focus ST yet? I viewed on a vid all the way from Europe, talk about innovation_now that's what I'm talkn bout!

No it’s a pony car. A muscle car is a large coupe that has semi-comfortable seating for 5. It’s equipped with a larger engine than the majority of its siblings. So if a car’s standard engine is a V6, and the muscle car is equipped with a 7 liter high output V8 with a hot cam and 4 barrel carb.
You obviously prefer a mustang but I wish you would show the camaro more love they my favorite cars. And I like the mustang too but a camaro would smoke one anytime anywhere :)
edit: while we on that topic can you please do a comparison video of the camaro ss vs mustang gt? Or zl1 vs gt500 which ever one you decides to do it’ll be a blast like so he could see👍🏾

I love my Challenger, but I really want one of these too. The update on this body style is starting to grow on me. It's hard to argue against the Coyote as the performance bargain. It makes me wish my Challenger was 500 pounds lighter and my 392 had forged internals.

Come on Joe, when you talk about exhaust or supercharger add on you called every name but Roush. That's not right 😃. You forgot to Zonk the black stitching around touch screen vs white stitching on doors and seats. I know I sound like a broken record but I'm still not feeling that new front end without fog lamps. That's why I held on to my 2016 for so long. I would love that auto but the front just turns me off. I was wondering what's your take on the supercharger vs turbo debate. I fell in love with superchargers when I bought my 02 Harley Davidson f150 and haven't look back since.
