@@goldysmith6953 I agree. I did a mod to my light wiring harness that allows me to burn both the low beam, the high beam, and the passing lamps at the same time when I turn on the high beams. Comes in handy at night on these poorly lit Tennessee country roads.

I'm always worried about her, but I know she makes good decisions.
Anyway, she lowered hers like 2 inches I think? And shes good. She is probably the same height or maybe 5ft7in max n probably 130ish lbs max?
Good for you though. No reason anyone can't enjoy the more comfortable size bikes, plus you can truly stretch out on that sucker, which is so awesome to be able to do.

I prefer the batwing fairing of the street and ultra glide for a number of reasons - 1) prefer the look, 2) I never noticed a difference in aerodynamics, 3) closer reach of electronics on batwing, 4) handlebars are a little further away on batwing, which I like.

While I've never owned either, I've ridden both. And I've also installed both an FXRT fairing and a batwing on my Dyna, and what you just explained is spot on. Personally, I loved the performance aspect of the fixed fairing, but after a while, I started noticing that it was making feel in a similar manner to motion sickness. I was having trouble balancing the bike at lower speeds, and steering, although lighter, was confusing, as I would find myself over or under steering to complete a turn. I removed my FXRT fairing, and the sickness never came back, and my handling of my bike vastly improved instantly as well. It pained me to get rid of the fairing I loved so much, but my ride quality vastly improved.
Sorry for the long explanation, but for my personal opinion, the Street Glide would win it for me.

I agree with a lot of your comments...but there is a subjective issue as to how big the bike feels on the road that is sometimes under discussed. I’ve had both and if as you alluded to I’m looking for big highway miles I’d go RG...but for me and the riding of more street and some highways the SG just feels a little better. Yes the same frame and such but again more of the feel. Good talk

I have had both and currently own a 2019 RG. I love both bikes. SG I love the layout of the dash and the fairing for appearance purposes. My RG I enjoy parking lot maneuverability, it is just a much lighter feel. I have no problems on either bike, I have been riding for 50 years. It boils down to personnel preference. I would have no problem going back to a SG, but for now I have my RG setup almost perfectly. Engine work, suspension and some other sweet touches.

On the air vents, they were closeable on the Road Glide fairing until 2019. When I ordered my 2020 Road Glide I paid for the two closing vents and had them installed so that I could still close those vents. My 2015 RGS was the like that and I prefered having that option for winter and rain riding. I don't get why they got rid of those closeable vents. Good video and breakdown on the differences between the two bikes.

Bought my First Road Glide in 2004. The number of Road Glides in comparison to Street Glides was, imo, one RG for every 7-10 SG class including the Ultra Classic configuration. I was the odd man out in HOG rides but I loved it nonetheless. Now, it's swung the other way, people have figured out, hell, Harley figured out , the RG is a better ride. I put nearly 90k on that 2004 till work took over and I've minimized the miles ridden. But, I still have a RG Ultra, 2012 and won't give it up until my wheels fall off.

As someone who is 6’3” with most of my height in the Legs and the Arms I bought a Road Glide, after going to the local dealer to trade in my Road King on a Street Glide. The reason was pretty simple, where you want the bars and fairing closer as a shorter person I don’t. Even with the Road Glide’s extra reach I still needed to install a custom seat with two more inches of reach added. In addition the foot position was more cramped on the Street Glide and for someone my size it just didn’t work nearly as well as the Road Glide.
In the end I like the fact that Harley gives two different takes on the same chassis. Depending on your body proportions one might feel a lot better than the other. For me the Road Glide was just designed around my proportions where the Street Glide was just too cramped for me.

    I ride fairly hard
Love the Classic looks of the SG, it handles OK when traveling within or a 10mph+ of posted limit, however once pushing it or making a fast pass then crossing back into your lane it tends to give a little shake, faster your going the more it does it. Now it is a 2013 so it has old-style front-end.
The RG, a 2015 with a 110" so it has the better/larger forks, it is good for 20mph+ over the posted limit, doesn't ever shake its head, it will cruise down the Interstate at 95-105mph, the SG is a 80-90mph bike.

Have not ridden a RG but loved the SG for one thing that iconic fairing ( Ultra limited) also rode Indian challenger fixed fairing but after owning and riding 60,000 miles on a gold wing did not want that frame mounted fairing again so a bought an Indian road master which feels light in the front and great in the wind doing 80 or 85 on highways tractor trailer trucks doesn’t bothered it feels very stable. I thought the ultra classic was very stable in the wind too .

I'm 5-7 and leaning towards a SG. This is going to sound silly but IMO shorter guys look better on a SG vs RG. Right now I'm on Breakout Pro Street and it's fine around town/bar hopping but I'm definitely investing in a bagger for longer rides. Hopefully I'll pull the trigger this winter if I can find a good deal. Right now it seems the used bikes are just as expensive as the new ones.

I have a 2014 Firefighter Shrine Streetglide . I'm 5'7 ish . I love the Streetglide because I feel more in control riding it .( yes I've ridden the Roadglide) . The fairing is closer on the SG whereas the RG reminds me of a car dashboard way out front where I couldn't hardly operate the radio . Plus the SG as mentioned has all the gages in line and in the cold you shut the vent and are Cocooned from the cold air. The RG has that opening around the front headlights. The shark nose did grow on me but not as much as the iconic Batwing. I actually have Scully air ride suspension so I can drop the ass end when getting better foot traction reversing out of parking spaces. I have been in some REAL crap weather on the SG and had no issues with wind and love the mirrors in the Batwing because my hands are protected from the cold and the headlight turns with the bars . I would personally recommend the Road Glide for taller riders because they would have more room to stretch out .I also have a 2005 Deuce but that's a different animal. 🤔😉😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇲😎👍

I’ve tried both and the road glide as a sportier ride to it. Both bikes are nice and comfortable but the road glide is more aggressive in the curves. To me the Road glide is a better bike for my riding style. I’ve to say the Street Glide is a beautiful bike, both of my cousins rides SGS and and are really happy.

For my 30th birthday I traded in my 18 SGS for a 22 road glide special. Both amazing bikes But it really just comes down to looks and i prefer the road glide. I think they ride about the same except the road glide feels a bit lighter and in heavy wind more stable. I'm 6,1 and the scrren on the road glide is quite far away but the hand controls work well. Also love the extra storage. For shorter riders I think the SGS will feel easier to ride and they will actually be able to reach the screen

SGS for me. I would actually refute your statement about the RG tracking more straight than the SG. Due to the front fairing I find the SG tracks straight and returns to center naturally whereas the RG is more sensitive and requires more input. That and having to reach farther for things in the cockpit of the RG cause me more fatigue when riding.

It begins with having options than personal preference. I have owned both and they both function well. I did not like the extra weight on the RG for lower speeds and stop/go around town. Also, the extra distance of the front speakers away from the rider is terrible with the crappy factory stereo output, but stereo wattage is another rabbit hole for another day, simply terrible imo.) On the highway, the RG really shines. For the riding I do, I prefer the SG Ultra.
