Matt Laidlaw congrats Matt for this awesome bike. I have a question how about the heat in this bike while you ride it in city especially if you stuck in traffic?
Matt, for my 2 cents..and I am a rider from 1964...era...old school..I enjoy every video, that you do...your knowledge about the H-D bikes is outstanding, your no B.S. about different products. Riding styles, and types are fantastic. Your tops in my book..Young Man I be 69 yrs old..and still kicking it...with my 2016 Ultra Classic..Stage 4 Here in Wichita,Ks Ride Safe .. You California Dreamer....lol c ya!
Thank you Matt for taking the extra time in going over the specs and the pros and cons of the bat vs shark fairing. I am on the fence with the new Honda GW or a HD Road or Street Glide. Thankful for you in breaking things down for us non HD and or future HD owners! I test drove my first HD Ultra a few weeks ago and fell in love with it. Plenty of power and handling for me.
I bought the same thing. Friends and family tried talking me into the black but the white called to me. How cool is it that I get to watch what you do to your ride and see the options for mine. I already did all the LED lights. Day maker in black is sweet. If I am in the LA area I will stop in. Love your store.
Thank you for making this video. I just ordered this bike yesterday and I have a feeling I'll be watching this video many times before my estimated January 19th delivery day.
I finally upgraded to a 2017 Street Glide Special in April 2017 (which is the same as the 2018 except bags and paint). Everything that Matt mentions in this video about the bike and comparisons from Road Glide, touring to softails is spot on. I researched for a few years and went back-n-forth on whether my next purchase would be softail line or touring and as he mentions, the best way to decide is "what type of riding" you are going to do most. If you are uncertain, I highly recommend renting the different models for a day or weekend and then decide (tip: larger HD dealerships will have more models available to rent). I want to tour the country and do long rides so this is why I went with the touring line. Steering towards the Road King, I always said I don't need the faring with all the gadgets/radio but sure glad I went that direction, it's worth the money!! To me the Road Glide rides better on the highways but I like the weight being on the forks than the frame. It's just is a personal preference so again rent different models, ride them in different scenarios to figure out what you like more cause you want to be happy with your purchase. The one item to mention is I am so fortunate to have waited for the the M8 107 engine. Having put many miles with the 103 engines on the softail/touring frames, there is such a great improvement HD made with the Milwaukee 8 engine. Not to rub it in but for those who can someday change over from the 103 to the 107, I highly recommend it! From the time of purchase to today, I have put on 9,800 miles and rode the Appalachian Mtns in AL, GA, TN, KY, WV and VA, the Smoky Mtns (US129 Dragon), the Natchez Trace, along the coast of FL. Just stock, this engine is awesome (matched with the transmission) and I don't think I will upgrade to a stage kit because it works just great from the factory! Taking a 9% grade uphill wet, loaded with gear is no problem. Passing, no problem. Need to accelerate getting on interstate or away from a situation, no problem. Set the cruise control and steady throttle, no problem! The suspension is great and those ABS brakes saved my ass a few times! The only con is the windshield thingie due to buffering over 50mph. Just have to figure out which shield will work better but going to a full helmet helps tremendously. Now, I get to figure out how I want to customize. I am a 5'8 50 yr old grandpa and this bike fits perfect being stock. Longest ride in one day was around 650 miles. Hope this helps for those who are trying to decide.
When it came down to pulling the trigger on a purchase, I test drove 2017 Road King, SG, RG and the RK was the most comfortable ride in my opinion (RG best at interstate speeds). RK had better seat, better suspension config, better visibility, better handling. Along with being a HOG member and listening to others pros about the radio/GPS/fairing; I ride long distances in all types of weather, off the beaten path, all year round and the radio/GPS/fairing make the ride so much better plus I just couldn't resist the look of a SG in Laguna Orange. Coming from Sportsters, Softails and a few foreign models, renting different models from HD helped me in my purchase decision for the type of riding I wanted to do. I am planning to get a 2018+ newer Street Bob with a 107 or 114 with a stage 3 or 4 after I get the SG paid off in a few years to have a stripped down, minimalist, agile, nimble, adrenaline-pumping, round-town bike. Best of both worlds.
Thanks! Your videos helped in making my decision purchase last April 2017. Even subscribed and enjoy your other videos. Yesterday I did a 275 mile ride and was thinking if there was anything I could add to help others in their purchase decision. 1.) If you are going to be riding a lot in weather 60 degrees or lower, invest in heated grips before anything else (you're welcome). 2.) If you plan on doing long rides or touring just go ahead invest in the models with the radio/GPS infotainment system, it's just freaking worth it, it just is! (add the 300 watt amp at purchase if you can) I ride with ear plugs, full helmet and its sounds better to me with ear plugs cause it is loud enough without the headache of the wind noise, sort of a head phone experience. 3.) The bat-wing fairing is a bonus during light & especially heavy rain, you will be riding past and waving to those pulled over. 4.) The LED daymaker light helps in being seen, seeing at night and looks cool. 5.) Get a model with ABS or add it at purchase!!! Review the ABS DVD video right after purchase and give thanks to the engineers at HD! 6.) Go to a full helmet if you want a smaller, shorter, cooler looking wind visor thingie, especially if riding speeds at 65mph and over. 777.) After purchase, get ready for all the honks, waves, thumbs up, smiles, gawking, people coming up to praise, take pictures and talk about your bike at gas stations, restaurants, rest areas, etc. Tell them they too can enjoy the experience by taking a riding course at most HD dealerships with bike provided and no obligation for purchase (I just want to see more folks on the road enjoying this experience along with me). As Matt mentioned in the video, the Street Glide is just an overall good bike for many occasions, looks sharp and is why it's the top seller. I am very happy with my purchase and enjoying it. The main purpose for buying it was the Milwaukee 8 engine. Everything else surrounding this engine is a bonus. Matt, I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work with them. Looking forward to see how you trick out your ride! Hope to make the 2,200 mile ride out to your area one day and will definitely stop by the dealership to get a poker chip and say hi. -- Live to Ride, Ride to Live..... Ride Safe!
A good friend who knows that I'm in the market for a Harley urged me to take her 2016 Road Glide out for a ride. She's looking to upgrade to the 107 Milwaukee Eight. I was a little uncertain since I've never been on a Touring model. Wow!! I was surprised at the comfort and agility of the bike. Hard to put in to words. I have a few winter months to get through before making a definite decision but my attention has now been drawn to the Road Glide. Never even dreamed of such a bike only a few weeks ago. I'd like to test ride the Street Glide and see how the two compare. Great video, as always, Matt Laidlaw!
Congratulations Matt on your new Street Glide! Thank you so much for your entertaining and informative videos. Riding a 2014 Road Glide right now and want to move up to the blacked out special, but you have given me a challenge in picking the road glide or the street glide. You make that challenge a lot more informative and fun. Thanks Matt.
I just picked up a Street glide special today. Same color as yours Matt. I've been tempted for some time now. Decided to finally pulled the Trigger. This is my 1st fairing bike. I'm totally stoked. Really dig this bike. Take care.
Matt-thanks as always for taking the time. We appreciate it! I have to be honest though. 26k is ludicrous. The everyday rider in a cold weather state is going to have to make some tough choices to have access to this, especially if said rider has a family. I've wanted the blacked out red flake for at least 4 or 5 years. Now it's here and I have little to no chance. Plus the solo saddle and back rest and apes and at the very least slip ons if not true duals? (Not to mention a headlight...) very disconcerting.
Congrats on the new bike! Bought my 2017 RGS new back in April, Stage I kit, and I love it. Almost 5K miles on it already. I'm 5'9" and it fits me perfectly. Would like to add the new mini apes that HD has. My wife hates the stock seat though, looking into the CVO style seat for looks and comfort. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your reviews.
Enjoyed the video. Lots of good info. I have a 2006 Electra Glide - when I bought it I went back and forth between street glide and it. Ultimately I settled on Electra Glide but now I think I want a street glide.
Nice Matt, Congratulations. I like it! The color works well with the blackened out motor and the rest of the components. The Bonneville Salt Denim really makes the rest of the bike pop!! Great video as always!!
I'm a chrome guy, so hopefully they'll bring it back for the special. I unfortunately sold my 15 special, and missed it since day one. The day my girl graduates and gets her first check, is the day I get my bike back!
Matt, congratulations again big guy! I’m super impressed with how your new bike looks...just amazing! Because I’m stationed in Germany I have not seen all the 2018 bikes and the ones they do have they only have one color. Anyways, the Bonneville Salt Denim didn’t look good online but in the video..nice and clean, sexy even!!! Enjoy and ride safe! When I get back to the states, I’m definitely hitting the Harley-Davidson shop first!!
I really enjoy your videos. I was a bit skeptical about getting a new Harley but got on the path after watching your vids. Now I have a 2018 SGS in Twisted Cherry and absolutely love it.
Matt great starting platform. I agree the debate between the Road Glide and Street Glide continues. I miss my shark nose but now that I have an FHLTK the bat wing isn't that bad. Some MOD suggestions if I may. 1. 18 inch apes black. 2. Screaming Eagle air filter. 3. Please et some nice sounding pipes like Cobra or Vance and Hines. 4. Get an AMP to rock those speakers. Last but not least LED headlight and add some fog lamps. You will probably use the Harley lights but look at Hogworks they beat the day maker hands down. Anyway good choice. I put those LED's on my FHLTK and FLSTC. Kept the stock Harley one on my sporty. Looing forward to the mod's
...Harley did a great job with their new models. But especially this one is absolutely outstanding!!! What a white gorgeous beauty!!! Please don't go to far with your modifications... Best wishes and from Germany...
Congrats on the new bike Matt, from a cold Sweden! Sure have been waiting for this one after all the small hints about the bike. A true beauty it is, sir! Keep em´upgrades coming, sir!
Great review, Matt. I just took delivery of that exact model and color Street Glide Special yesterday here in Northern Colorado. It is a fine piece of equipment. Looking forward to the upgrades you have planned on yours. Blessings, brother!
Matt, nice bike, I have the 2017 version and I love it, only problem is I have an issue with trans oil migration into the primary. It nearly caught me out on a 2000 mile trip so keep an eye on your trans fluid. HD are working on a fix and I have this from HD themselves via email. Being part of a dealership you probably know this anyway...... Enjoy the bike
I love your content great videos as always! Right now I’m looking for my second bike and I’m caught between the road glide and the street glide. I never really like the look of the road glide until recently but I still don’t like the handlebar configuration of the road glide. And I feel what you said about guys stripping down Electra glide’s is pretty accurate. my first bike was a 2003 electric glide ultra classic anniversary edition and I took the tour pack off that just for that strip down look. Plus a 21 I couldn’t afford to go out and buy a new street glide. Especially with what the army was paying me. I had a horrible experience with the Electra Glide it broke down often and when I got home I realize how scratched up it was and I don’t see that the dealership. Plus the lighting on those older bikes is absolutely horrible especially when you’re riding through the middle of nowhere at midnight you feel like a deer can just jump out at you anytime. But I’m hoping that the street glide special even with the stock light is a lot better than a 2003! Thanks again for the content keep it up, wish I had your job:)
Yea , these new bikes are WAY better than just 15 years ago. It's like night and day difference. And yes, the stock light is much better than the old single halogen lights back in 2003.
Congrats on your new ride Matt. Beautiful machine for sure, even in stock form! I am looking forward to seeing your vision and personal touches to your new 2018 Street Glide. I’m sure you will have a lot of fun tweaking your new bike to your personal liking! Your reviews are unequaled and greatly appreciated. Take care Matt.
Long but very informative, only negative is it is a little repetitive. That said I watched it all the way through which tells me it was interesting. Love your narrative style.
Congrats on your new bike, it's beautiful. Only thing is at $26K I'm thinking it should come with the 114 from the factory. Anyway hope you have a ball with it!
Good choice Matt! I'm really considering the Street Glide Special as the upgrade from my 08 Fatbob. I went to Thunder Tower here in SC and I'm torn between the Bonneville Salt and Twisted Cherry. Those colors look awesome up close compared to videos and pictures.
Hey brother thanks for the reply. Since you have had the bike for over a month, how does that flat white do with cleanliness? I was in the dealer last weekend and the vivid black is just a complete fingerprint magnet.
Like allways the best review on youtube, thanks; Btw can't you use the RK rear shocks on a streetglide? That would make the bike a bit more comfy i think. Congratulations on the new bike !
Matt, I appreciate what you do! I appreciate even more now as I start selling for Harley in my city this week. I'm using your videos as a part of my training process! God bless! I've always been a Dyna guy but might have to grow up and buy a SG.
Congrats on the new bike Matt. I hope you get to enjoy many miles on this baby. I'm quite sure that there will be the odd one or two accessories added in the not so distant future? Ride safe brother.
Hi Matt trying to decide on a model, your comments have me thinking the Road King is he ride for me... Please keep us up too date on the changes you make too your new bike... Please do a good review of the Road King.... thanks
Matt, you have the same tastes as me. I had the same Sand Camo Street Glide as you. I almost went with pearl white Street Glide. However, this year I got the Olive Gold Road Glide Special. It's a 2017 that I had blacked out, that didn't come standard in 2017. Anyway, can't wait to see what you do to it. Congratulations!!
Harley Davidson really turned it up on the 2017 & 2018 street/road glides, it was a must must do for harley as well as the softails for 2018. Harley davidson has so much competition out there now to the point that its impacting sales. Harley davidson is indeed the cadillac and i love my 2017 street glide special for sure mainly because i wanted to ride american iron and the harley brand. But being the cadillac so speak is whats steering so new riders and current riders to other brands because of : bike cost, service center cost, replacement parts cost, and financing cost. Ride what you can afford to but i ride a harley mainly because of the brand more than anything, but Yamaha & Honda has more bells and whistles for the money and upgrades already included and pushing harley davidson into a shared sales environment impacting sales. If Harley want to avoid the Victory motors fate harley davidson & its dealer network is going to have to bend a whole lot going into 2019 in every area to compete with its competition no matter how you shake it.
Great job on the video. Shame though when one spends so much then has to spend a bunch more to fix things Harley should have done right in the first place. I understand the whole customizing thing but at least get some of it right. LED is old technology and should come standard front and rear.
Nice ride, congrats, and great video too! Do you have a gimbal or some stabilizer on your GoPro to keep it that smooth, mine are really shaky, even on my helmet.
I've put 50K miles on my 2016 Street Glide Special. I love it. I am 5/4" with a 29" inseam. I put a Reach Seat on it and may try a Super Reach. I wonder if I should have lowered it with a lowering kit. Expensive, but maybe I would have more control in those parking lot situations. Here in Arizona, you can rely on many of those lots to be offered in gravel. How would a lowering kit effect the ride--not just the bumps but also corning. I LOVE the lean angle on this bike. When riding alone, I get nervous that I will get into situations I can't get out of. Do you have people with the female experience you can put into a video, or other advice?
Matt Laidlaw Was great to finally meet you. I remember this bike well. You told me how it was gonna be your next one. Looking forward to the customization! Really nice, clean and organized dealership staffed by some genuinely happy and helpful people. Was a great experience. I want that hat! If there’s a part number for it to order online or if we can order it from your dealership please let me know! Ride safe
EBay $80 don't buy from Harley it's like $300 got one for my streetbob in 2014 still working fine. Comes from China you can not tell the difference except in your pocket!
So rad!! I live off Hermosa in Marblehead!!! I’d like to see a new blacked out Street Bob with T-Bars, Fairing, Two Brothers Exhaust, etc... sweet bike Matt!!! 🤘🏻🇺🇸😵
Awesome, I drive by your street Everyday. We are doing a Street bob with T-bars and a fairing soon. I'd like to do the two brothers exhaust. We will see. We can't install it on a new bike though.
Thanks for the review. I'm still loving my 2013 but the 2019 version has me thinking. Now with the 114 engine putting 122 lbs. That's amazing for the price. I have to disagree with your statement and that of many others that make the same statement "not a huge difference" when it comes to torque between the 107 and 114. In that yr the difference is 8 lbs and now it's 11 lbs. To get that increase would cost loads of money in mods. So if you get the newer special compared to the standard you'll get your moneys worth just in the engine upgrade cause it will cost u as much to get 122 lbs out of the 107 (jug kit +) and then you still only have a standard SG. I know cause it took a load to get 110 lbs Hope I made my point clearly. Thanks
Excellent and accurate review. Love my 2017 SG. At 6"0 and 230 pounds, the RG was just a schoshe too big for me. The SG fit me perfectly, and the Batwing works just fine in the Vegas winds at 100 (cough cough) mph
I would have loved to see you get that gunship grey cvo lol it’s only another 15-18k...seriously tho the street glide is my fav bagger and I can’t wait to see how you customize this one...keep up the great work matt!!
Matt Laidlaw yeah that makes sense there pretty much isn’t anything on that bike to change it’s perfect...to me the whole point of getting a harley is to make it your own that’s why they are the greatest bikes in the world, endless possibilities for modifications..to me that’s more important than hp...I want my bike to look good rather than have so much hp I’m not gonna even use it all like a sport bike..
Nice bike. I am choosing to upgrade to the new Road King Special (when I can) because I hate ferrings and like to see the road in front of me, but if I didn't mind them, I'd go with the street glide like that. Thanks for all the info that you share on such a regular basis.
Hi Matt, hope to see you riding around SC sometime. I'm still on my 16 street glide special. I had a question about the suspension. You mentioned that when you ad a passenger that it needs to be adjusted. Throughout the week I ride solo and with a passenger multi times. Do i need to adjust the suspension every time i switch from riding solo to riding with a passenger? Again, that would be several times a week. Thanks for your advice.
Brian Wilkinson well. If you want the best ride quality then yes. If you’re constantly switching between the two then it might be a pain in the ass to constantly be taking the bag off and twisting the knob. For long rides I would dial it in correctly though.
be careful an older women ran me over last year witch in return makes me scared to ride again but after seeing this bike wow I believe id hop right on it and go. oh btw I just got healed up it was a long painful process. Congrats
Sweet. That color looks great against the blacked out engine. Good luck keeping it clean. The flying bugs around here would have it looking like a painter's palette in short order. A paint cleaner review might be nice.
Do you know if the "High Flow Exhaust" is 2 into 2? The way the power dips (really see it on the torque curve) looks like that of a 2 into 2. Breathes better up top with a dip in the midrange. Speaking of curves, the graph person made a mistake on that torque chart in the performance catalog. They apparently think that because the power is measured at the rear wheel, then so is the torque. They goofed. Take a look: crank torque = (80 rwHP * 5252/5000 rpm (crank speed)) = 84 ft*lbs. Exactly what's shown on the graph. The reason that number is smaller than the other crank torque number in the spec sheet is that HD measured the torque at the crank on an actual engine at the factory. When they calculate it using rear wheel power, there is a loss in power in the drive train, hence there is a corresponding loss in the calculated crank torque. Anyway, feel free to send their tech writer a notice of correction. ;)
Congrats! Loved your old bike as well... I traded my 08' XL1200N for the same bike (2018 FLHXS), but in black! Options that I ordered: - Rear crash bars (black); - Stage 1 (intake, exhaust, H-D tune); - Docking hardware; - Siren. Mods that I bought: - Vision X LED Headlight (black chrome) with the adapter to use high and low beams simultaneously; - Custom Dynamics GEN200-AW-1157 LED Turn Signal Insert. I'll probably do the pizza box as well (like your '14 FLHXS)... BTW, I watched your live stream of the unveil and I was so happy that H-D decided to go black on the new Street Glide Special! Had to trade in! Hi from QC, Canada!
Mine is black and chrome and have the same mods, try the bag lights turn and brake stop LED's from Harley their Awesome, love the pizza box comment lol
Yea, I just rode it today. The CVO Feels heavier for sure. It feels like it rolls into the turns slightly slower. Not a huge deal. Just kinda more of a "boat" feel to it. It makes up for it in the top end though

Matt Laidlaw
congrats Matt for this awesome bike.
I have a question how about the heat in this bike while you ride it in city especially if you stuck in traffic?
Matt Laidlaw Nice color 👍
The M8 does A LOT better in the heat in stop-and-go traffic situations. Definitely handles the high heat better than the twin cam
Do u think there will be big change in street glide 2019, coz im planning to buy one very soon and if there is change worth to wait

Damn good taste brother! Yea, stop by and say hi. Bring your bike and we can get a shot together.
Any recommendations for a better windscreen? I’m 6’1” with a XXXXL helmet. It seems pretty windy as is.
Thank you for making this video. I just ordered this bike yesterday and I have a feeling I'll be watching this video many times before my estimated January 19th delivery day.

Jaquenth LaMonte why not buy a Roadking with a detachable fairing?

I think you added some nice points and you have some good experience to back it up. I'm pinning your comment so more people can read.
Detachable fairings on Roadkings are an abomination. Look bad and handle terrible.

Teachering both awesome bikes. You’ll like which ever one you end up buying
Hey Matt I am very happy for you. Finally you pulled trigger. Denim white with blacked out combination gives very nice clean look 👍🏼
Congrats on the new bike Matt. I look forward to see what mods you make on it. Thanks again.
Congratulations on the new Street Glide Special - Love It!
Thank you !
Enjoyed the video. Lots of good info. I have a 2006 Electra Glide - when I bought it I went back and forth between street glide and it. Ultimately I settled on Electra Glide but now I think I want a street glide.
Thank you Matt, you do an outstanding job on your bike reviews.
Pleasure to meet you today Matt, great video and the people in your shop are awesome! Keep up the great videos. Jim from Cleveland.
Nice Matt, Congratulations. I like it! The color works well with the blackened out motor and the rest of the components. The Bonneville Salt Denim really makes the rest of the bike pop!! Great video as always!!
Thank you. Yea, I love the contrast
Congrats on the new bike Matt! Can wait to see what you do with it!
Thanks man
I'm a chrome guy, so hopefully they'll bring it back for the special. I unfortunately sold my 15 special, and missed it since day one. The day my girl graduates and gets her first check, is the day I get my bike back!
Beautiful motorcycle Matt the black with the white really looks beautiful good luck with it so much you can do with it take care
I agree with you Matt and I have had both and own a Road Glide now and love it. Looking forward to see what you do with this bike! Ride Safe!
Damn man. I love that bike haha Congrats
Great video, and congratulations on the bike. I can't wait to see what you do to it!! Thanks Matt for all the help and information.
Thanks for watching!
Nice Bike Matt. I’m looking forward to your review on the infotainment system, Traded Up to a Limited recently & I’m trying to figure it out.
Great choice Matt, sat on that very same bike and colour a few weeks ago, it would be one of my top two choices , enjoy and ride safe !
Andrew Trapani thank you sir. I’ll be doing some of that. 18 inch apes on a fairing bike? That’s tall my friend. I probably won’t go that high.
Ok Matt 14 inches max I guess on a fairing bike. Even though 18's would look bad ass. Looking forward to the mod's
...Harley did a great job with their new models. But especially this one is absolutely outstanding!!! What a white gorgeous beauty!!! Please don't go to far with your modifications... Best wishes and from Germany...
Excellent choice. Im buying a RGS in the next year or two. Waiting to see if HD will give the 114ci option for the touring bikes.
Congratulations Matt. Beautiful bike. Ride safe.
Congrats on the new bike! Beautiful finish! ⚡️
Congrats on the new bike Matt, from a cold Sweden! Sure have been waiting for this one after all the small hints about the bike. A true beauty it is, sir!
Keep em´upgrades coming, sir!
Thank you!
I lost my bet, tought you were going the Heritage way. Gratz on your bike, it's extra cool!
Congrats on the new ride Matt. Can't wait to hear about your plans for it.
Great review, Matt. I just took delivery of that exact model and color Street Glide Special yesterday here in Northern Colorado. It is a fine piece of equipment. Looking forward to the upgrades you have planned on yours. Blessings, brother!
Awesome. Congrats and enjoy. 👍🏻
Looks great stock, looking forward to seeing how you build on it.
Cool video. I prefer the Road Glide but Street Glide is still nice. Congrats! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
I can't stand the fixed fairings look.
Mark Hillman Yea I’ve heard of this problem with some bikes. Hopefully they fix it soon
Very Informative as always Matt Congratulations on your new Bike 🇺🇸
Congrats on your new ride Matt. Beautiful machine for sure, even in stock form!
I am looking forward to seeing your vision and personal touches to your new 2018 Street Glide. I’m sure you will have a lot of fun tweaking your new bike to your personal liking!
Your reviews are unequaled and greatly appreciated. Take care Matt.
Michael Gurgone Thank you. I’m pumped to see how it turns out myself.
Long but very informative, only negative is it is a little repetitive. That said I watched it all the way through which tells me it was interesting. Love your narrative style.
i love the new bike!!!!...i have one question....why not a classic or limited with a removable tour pack?
Congrats on your new bike, it's beautiful. Only thing is at $26K I'm thinking it should come with the 114 from the factory. Anyway hope you have a ball with it!
Thank you! The 107 Actually does pretty good. I'm not too bent on the fact it doesn't have a 114.
I'm 5'8" and I felt too small for a rg, heading in a few days to pick up a copy of this bike
Good choice Matt! I'm really considering the Street Glide Special as the upgrade from my 08 Fatbob. I went to Thunder Tower here in SC and I'm torn between the Bonneville Salt and Twisted Cherry. Those colors look awesome up close compared to videos and pictures.
The Twisted Cherry looks amazing. Goodluck on your choice!
Hey brother thanks for the reply. Since you have had the bike for over a month, how does that flat white do with cleanliness? I was in the dealer last weekend and the vivid black is just a complete fingerprint magnet.
The tank emblem reminds me of the FXRP. Cool.
Thank you Matt for your reviews just picked up a 2018 SG last week love it keep up with the awesome reviews
Another great video Matt.. it's good to hear your thoughts on size being 6'6" also but here down under!
Cool looking bike. Looking forward to the “upgrades “ you have planned for it. Ride safe.
Like allways the best review on youtube, thanks; Btw can't you use the RK rear shocks on a streetglide? That would make the bike a bit more comfy i think. Congratulations on the new bike !
Nice bike dude. I would pick that color too.
Matt, I appreciate what you do! I appreciate even more now as I start selling for Harley in my city this week. I'm using your videos as a part of my training process! God bless! I've always been a Dyna guy but might have to grow up and buy a SG.
Also from my side congrats on the new bike Matt, greetz from Belgium
Thank you sir
Congrats on the new bike Matt. I hope you get to enjoy many miles on this baby. I'm quite sure that there will be the odd one or two accessories added in the not so distant future? Ride safe brother.
Especially on your last bike regarding lights set up
Hi Matt trying to decide on a model, your comments have me thinking the Road King is he ride for me... Please keep us up too date on the changes you make too your new bike... Please do a good review of the Road King.... thanks
Awesome man. Thanks. Will do .
Mike Houser very nice. Send me a picture. Use Instagram. My user name is matt_laidlaw
SWEET RIDE, picking up one this weekend. Thanks for the video made my choice a lot easier.
Man, I'm just not a fan of the batwing fairing. The RG and tge RK just turn me on. looking forward to seeing your build evolve.
Can't wait your review of the new Sport Glide! That bike looks sweet!
I like your new bike too. Myself I would have choose a different color though.
Coming soon.
just bought one of these things today. stoked to catch your review
Congrats. Great bike.
Nice ride, congrats, and great video too! Do you have a gimbal or some stabilizer on your GoPro to keep it that smooth, mine are really shaky, even on my helmet.
I don't have a gimbal. I just have it mounted on my helmet.
Really happy for you Matt. Thanks for the vlog. Ride safe!
Ryan's V-Twin Vlogs thanks for dropping by the other day.
Matt Laidlaw
Was great to finally meet you. Ride safe
Sweet bike but 26K for a stock bike and HD can't even throw in a Daymaker? Sad
I know. I was hoping for a daymaker too.
I,ve been thinking about the vivid black, and the FIRST thing I would do is put the smoked daymaker and CVO style tail lights!
EBay $80 don't buy from Harley it's like $300 got one for my streetbob in 2014 still working fine. Comes from China you can not tell the difference except in your pocket!
First thing I thought. WTF no Daymaker on a bike in this price range? Oh well, maybe next year.
If you can afford the bike you can afford the day maker.
Dope video....I’m definitely scheming on a new bike. So far I’m stuck on the Roadking because it fits my budget.
Can’t wait to see it!!! Be fun on the canyon roads 😀
Sweet bike Matt, congrats! Can't wait for the Mods video!!!! Put Mobbin' Robin to work on those accessories!!!!
Seven Parabellum done! She has me covered.
That twisted cherry is a awesome color!
Sweet bike Matt. Love the blacked out look.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Love the bike! Nice job Matt!
I know cause it took a load to get 110 lbs
Hope I made my point clearly.
Thanks
Yes, the value is there. I don’t disagree. Getting the 114 from the factory is going to save money no question.
Excellent and accurate review. Love my 2017 SG. At 6"0 and 230 pounds, the RG was just a schoshe too big for me. The SG fit me perfectly, and the Batwing works just fine in the Vegas winds at 100 (cough cough) mph
I know you would never go that fast (cough cough)
well learned alot from your video Matt, also help with my decision on what bike to get also , Good Job!
I would have loved to see you get that gunship grey cvo lol it’s only another 15-18k...seriously tho the street glide is my fav bagger and I can’t wait to see how you customize this one...keep up the great work matt!!
The CVO is awesome but if I got that then there wouldn't get anything left to do. I like to make my bikes unique.
Suprised me you bought the SGS over the RGS,just saying ride fast and safe.
Congrats matt!
Great choice for a new bike!! Ride safe and enjoy! I'd love a new SGS!
Thank you. Check out the video I just posted on the final product.
I'm not a big fan of touring bikes, but damn, that one is awesome
They look good for a touring bike don't they? !
Matt Laidlaw Yep
be careful an older women ran me over last year witch in return makes me scared to ride again but after seeing this bike wow I believe id hop right on it and go. oh btw I just got healed up it was a long painful process. Congrats
Im 5.7 tall. love the RG.. As a dealer, why didnt you buy a CVO ???
Looking forward to seeing the mods!
Another awesome video, nobody does them better. Peace brother.
Very very nice bike Matt! Quit curious to see what mods will be done to it :). I'm saying, Brass collection...... ;)
Tom Sawicki haha. I was going to go all out brass but it didn’t really fit the look
You are so lucky to live in such a place.
Thanks. Yes, I am lucky.
Sweet. That color looks great against the blacked out engine. Good luck keeping it clean. The flying bugs around here would have it looking like a painter's palette in short order. A paint cleaner review might be nice.
Haha. Good point. I plan on doing a detailing tutorial soon.
Anyway, feel free to send their tech writer a notice of correction. ;)
Very nice bike but enjoy all your reviews please do a review on the 2018 sport glide as soon as possible thank you
I love that bike! Hey, thanks for the video, Matt! I want to rent one of these when I come visit next week. Any suggestions?
I love that background music. good beat.
Congrats Matt, love the bike. You should've negotiated harder and had them throw in the Daymaker! 😀 Have fun!
Haha agreed. Don't worry though, a different light will be going on there.
Love your choice. Would be mine too!
Congrats! Loved your old bike as well...
I traded my 08' XL1200N for the same bike (2018 FLHXS), but in black!
Options that I ordered:
- Rear crash bars (black);
- Stage 1 (intake, exhaust, H-D tune);
- Docking hardware;
- Siren.
Mods that I bought:
- Vision X LED Headlight (black chrome) with the adapter to use high and low beams simultaneously;
- Custom Dynamics GEN200-AW-1157 LED Turn Signal Insert.
How does the SGS compare to the CVO SG in handling with the CVO'S extra 40lbs. of weight? Is there much difference?
Yea, I just rode it today. The CVO Feels heavier for sure. It feels like it rolls into the turns slightly slower. Not a huge deal. Just kinda more of a "boat" feel to it. It makes up for it in the top end though
Do you think HD will give us a choice between the 107 and 114 for the 2019 touring line up like they do for the new softails?
There is that possibility. They had that choice back around 2010 and 2011 with the "Power Pack" on the street Glide and Road Glide
