I don't really think there's any proper way to tell who would win(although personally I believe Yor would, even if Loid had prep time, it's gonna be hard to beat someone who can literally canonically dropkick a car out of the way), since Spy x Family isn't even about that. Whoever wins is whoever the author writes to win. We do have their power levels confirmed by the author though, so theres that (Loid=60, Yor=100).
That Anya chase sequence with the music was so fire, each episode gets better and better.

the way they're collabing is alternating episodes, Wit does the odd ones, cloverworks does the even ones, so this episode really is just Wit flexing on their choreography animation (just like ep 4 was Cloverwork flexing their expression game)

WIT and Cloverworks went so hard this episode for no reason. 80% of the stuff that happened in the castle was anime original. In the manga there was no plane too. They just arrive at the castle. They called the agents and after anya gave out the rolls in the ballroom it immediately went to yor beating loid's ass. The other agents didn't get involved they just watched. There was no quiz, or fight scenes, or shootout, or explosions. They are somehow making an amazing manga better in every way.
I heard somewhere that supposedly Tatsuya Endo did want to originally include this stuff in the draft of the manga for the chapter but couldn’t due to time restraints. So it was just decided to be put in the anime.

@@davideduardo9092 just like Loid, both of them are trained since kids. Remember when Loid mentioned her parents passed away very early. Also when Yor recalled breaking her brother ribs just by hugging him when he was little like Anya. Her brother is now a grown man. Yor was strong for a long time.

The anime original content used here to further flesh out the adapted content and gets us more attached to the family was probably the best decision made by Wit's staff for this episode.

After reading the manga, Loid would win a real fight every time
The reason why Yor looks so superior in this fight is because Loid wasn't sure whether it's an act or serious, moreover Yor is his wife not his enemy. Based on his character - a family man - he won't fight back.

Yor Yoga training was paid off. That choreography of Yor's attacks was absolutely incredible 👏. Loid and Yor definitely Parents of the Year ❤
The bill was Dalcs, not Yen, a made up currency. Also in the manga there's several tickets ( castle, furniture etc...), so it's probably much more than 8000 hidden behind.

I might be wrong, but the art they use for the opening and ending is pretty similar to 1930s art (Like Piet Mondrian's paintings). The furniture also reminds me of those years. So, the anime could be set or based on that time. But I don't know about the currency.
P.S: I'm studying art history right now, so that's why those things led me to that conclusion.

My favorite bits about this episode
- Scruffy being a good uncle. Being a bad influence on Anya, really playing along with the play, and making sure Loid spoils the shit out of her and also trying to make him play along.
- Yor getting fucking sloshed, doing the :> face, and Loid probably thinking something like "wow, she's a mean drunk".
- A whole like battalion of top-tier secret agents, them going along to the best of their abilities, with helping the guy they look up to, thinking the whole time this is part of the plan, all to make this little girl happy, and just to reiterate, just so we're clear, still thinking that infiltrating this children's theme park to make this little girl happy is all part of the mission that will bring about world peace.
- Apparently this wasn't like this in the manga; it originally was just like playing pretend in their house, the anime decided to flex it's budget. They didn't have to do all this, and I like to think the bit at the end with the director getting the bill is some kind of in-joke with the animators.
It was still in the castle (and Loid did still submit WISE a massive invoice for it), but the castle was just an abandoned place instead of a theme park, and basically the entire scene took place in the ballroom. The roles were still the same, drunk Yor still fought Loid, and Loid knocked out Frankie like that. But the other agents just played guests in the ball, and the other action sequences weren't there. So this was an episode that took full artistic liberty with its source and made it the most awesome episode so far. Loved it.
I feel like they did it better justice then the manga, cause in the manga it felt underwhelming more of a joke to get twilight in trouble with his handler, with this it felt like twilight actually made good use of the resources he requested.
Twilight really blew through the government budget and resources to take his fake daughter on a field trip. I love this show. 🤣🤣🤣
Loid officially adopted her, back in episode one. His marriage to Yor is fake however.

But when he picks up Anya he asks the guy about the paperwork and the orphanage owner says don't worry about it just take her. Them he has Franky make some forgeries

EDIT: A quick note, when I was pretty young I was actually suprised on my birthday with a helicopter ride around the goldengate bridge. We'd been visiting friends in San Fran from the UK, and I will never forget the pure happiness of hearing that news and getting to go up in a real life helicopter. My parents never had a lot of money, but they made the effort knowing I'd always wanted to be a pilot.
It was something that came rushing back to me seeing them get in the plane here: for the parents out there, this stuff may seem like a waste of money, but your kids will truly remember it for the rest of their lives.
I love how Franky went from not on board with Anya at all to being her fun uncle in less than a week. Such is the power of Anya.
Real MVP's of this episode were the agents. Literally could've been used elsewhere but least they gettin paid.

Fun little fact for you since you enjoyed seeing Yor getting drunk and almost laying waste to Loid, in comparison to her who’s a lightweight (and also drunk way too much), Loid can’t get drunk. It was cut out from the manga, but when they’re at the table eating and drinking, in the manga Franky asks him why he’s not drinking heavier to celebrate, to which he replies by saying that he can’t get drunk anyway because of the resistance he developed to alcohol because of his training and job (with Franky replying that that’s really sad).
Oh also $8,000 in today’s money would come to somewhere around $71,000.

They actually use dalc for currency not yen. Apparently 1 dalc is around 320 yen, so it should be around $20000. If we take into inflation into account(assuming the anime takes place in older times) it's around 200k in todays dollars.

I think an underrated part of Loid and Yor together is that they are basically Brawn and Brains. Loid excels in social settings and infiltration, but Yor is the expert in combat with her inhuman strength and skills :) In a work setting they would be unstoppable together

You know you're Father of the Year when you use the Government budget to rent out a theme park for a night as a congratulation gift for your daughter. It also helps that Loid is a perfectionist at his job so he has to be the perfect father to Anya too.
I have good news for you, it's actually 25 episodes scheduled for the show, not 12. It's split cour though, which means the last 13 will come out in a later season. I imagine fall of this year, usually a 1 season break, but I don't think there's anything official yet stating when?
Also honestly, it's a Shounen Jump title that is absurdly popular right now, and considering the pacing of the show there's enough content for another 25 episodes afterwards if they wanted to. Gonna have SpyX for a while I think :D

I never read manga until after a season ends normally, but I went and checked this chapter after watching the episode and literally the whole castle scene is like... 9 pages. They added a TON to this episode, Cloverworks and Wit are blowing this show out of the water with the amount of work they're putting into it, my mind is boggled at how hard they're going

Best episode so far. The comedy was gold, the action scenes were amazing the animation was flawless. So much fun I gotta watch this whole episode 10 times more

and this is crazy because this is an adaptation of a ".5" chapter, meaning it's basically a filler chapter. they fleshed it out into an entire episode.
Lemme just say that Anya wrong as hell for that. She's the only person who knew how nasty Yor is, and she said "Hey, wouldn't it be fun if you go fight papa?". Damn near had that man tenderized.

Wit Studio flexed so hard with this episode, put they whole foot into that filler content and made it 100x better than the manga chapter. They even had me genuinely questioning for the first time who would win if Yor and Loid would ever fight, even with me being fully caught up with the manga it just never made me think about that. I definitely got all my money on Yor tho, no doubt.

And B it's hard to call any of this truly filler content as while it doesn't directly impact the main goal, it follows the forger family as they bond, which is a major part of the show, heck it's one of the three main bits about the show, Anya infiltrating school, the forger family bonding while hiding their secrets and Anya doing her best to ensure that both loid and Yor survive/succeed at their missions while protecting their cover.
The scene of Yor killing another student’s dad in her mind was much more brutal in the manga. She murdered a whole ballroom full of people! Anything for Anya!!!
*Yor:* “Don’t worry, Loid! I have a plan!”
*Me:* “Murder. The plan is ALWAYS murder.”
*Franky:* “Now, go! The most powerful witch in the world. Yorticia!”
