It was good to see a manicure where the soft skin around the cuticle was removed completely, most other nail techs I've seen tell you to only remove the dead cuticle which is on the nail and to just push the soft back. Just every now and then your nail went off camera and all we could see was the middle section of finger between the two knuckle joints, but still very informative with the subtitles. Thanks for sharing your technique. 😊
Lovely video! Thank you! After you polish the cuticle with oil and need to start applying products like nail pre/bonder, do you remove the oil from nails?
I love the video. I love how concise it was. I’m definitely gonna use this as a reference for when I’m doing mine. Quick questions, what liquid did you use on the wipe? and what did you spray onto the nails?
What strength are you using the drill for cuticle removal? And for gel removal? Does it matter? I am trying to learn at home to do nails for my mum, but I have never even had a manicure before so there is a lot I don't know. this is a really great video. I am finding the cuticle area hardest, I think this will help with that a lot :)
Everytime I try this it doesn’t work… When I try to remove the skin it doesn’t come off and I tried the drill on both motions. Is it possible my skin is just too ‘fresh’ bc it definitely feels like it
@@nailbysaraafsharI have never heard any other nail tech mention baby powder before! Can you tell me please what you do with the baby powder and how much you use and what does it achieve - I use baby powder every morning after my shower on my body, never on my cuticles but if it will help I'm willing to give it a go - I do push my cuticles back with my soft bath towel after a shower though!
@@CaduJoeySon Thanks for answering my question. I must admit I forgot about trying baby powder, I did my nails again at the weekend and my cuticles didn't need so much work this time because I'd remembered to keep using my cuticle oil every day and that really does make a difference - you can't expect to have nice nails if you don't put the work in!
These kind of bits are made of silicone. You can find them by googling 'silicone nail drill bit' or 'silicone cuticle drill bit'. They come in slightly different shapes. Some are pointy and smaller, some are bigger and rounded.
Good video, although you keep referring to the proximal fold as the cuticle, and I'm afraid it's not. The cuticle is the non-living tissue that sits on the nail plate it should never be cut it protects against infection...
I learned this 30 year's ago and we just called it, proper nail care, and part of the basic nail prep or manicure. That's how I was taught in nail school, and there was nothing Russian about it.. Think people today are adding a foreign name to it, so they can charge more money for it. And there is no reason it should take 1.5 hr to do. 😊
The similar thing happened with french manicure. It was created by an american but it got popular in France and then spread to different countries and afterwards people started to call it french manicure.
@@rasaruksenaite4472 Actually it was Jeff Pink who on a trip to France came back and wrote an article about how the french women were painting their nails. Hence the name - French Manicure. ☺
The cuticle is dead skin. It doesn't hurt when removing. But if you press too hard or use too high of a nail drill speed there is a chance you can cut into the living skin. If there is blood that means you cut into the living skin. Dead skin does not have a blood supply.
I use this drill bit ,you can buy in this page. MZCMSL Flame Cuticle Drill Bit Set with Case, 6pcs Pro Diamond Nail Bits for Nail Salon Manicure a.co/d/4OlrZ1a
The nail grows from its root, also called the matrix, which is under the proximal nail fold (or the skin above the cuticle). It doesn't grow from the nail bed. But you can drill to much into the nail plate and thin it out and as a consequence the nail becomes weaker.
Actually you have to keep the bit almost parallel to the nail bed and put minimum pressure. Also keep the drill speed low, between 5-7rpms. There is no damage that way.
Este video está maravilloo!! Ojala explicara en español tambien. Tengo que practicar la retirada de la cuticula con la misma fresa. Felicitaciones 👏 👏. Gracias por compartir.
I worked as a nail tech and only shaping nails and removing/pushing back culicles is considered a manicure. Puting hard or soft gel on nails and/or polishing nails is called gel overlay. When people say 'gel manicure' it means you get a manicure plus gel overlay.

I read in some states in usa its illegal as cutting the skin may lead to infection . So i guess its a liability so they cant be sued.
@@loveu8910 Not sure if they have same rule here in UK, but as I only do my own nails it won't make any difference to me!

What is R? Reverse?
What is L? Forward?

15 or 20m
Does it not hurt when they cut or use that tool on the skin?

Drilling that much into the nail bed surely weakens the new growth on a natural nail?
