  • Dry Manicure Techniques on Short Nails
    Let's recap a handful of dry manicure techniques! We'll use small diamond bits to meticulously clean the cuticle and open up the cuticle pocket. A dry mani eliminate hangnails, it leads to better product adhesion and a longer lasting manicure, and overall it's more aesthetically beautiful!

    Love the detail bit. After years of Brazilian manicure, I have very deep sides. It's a relief to see all the dead skin gone.

    Why do we brush the nails in one direction versus the other? Just curious… in school they told me to brush towards the free edge, but I ❤️ these results… I just want to understand why I am doing what I am doing 🥰

    Erica, I’ve purchased almost all of your bits,as a matter of fact I think I got the last ones in the Labor Day Sale at Gemini 😂, I was curious though when you said to push brush “toward” your client .. I’ve been taught by several to only pull the debris out and away so that it isn’t pushed back into cuticles … Can you explain further? Thanks love the info and tutorials

      Thank you so much for all your support! we believe in gently using our brush to clean out any debris, this will allow for our cuticle pocket to be maintained open to continue with our prep. pushing downward in a way is laying and closing that pocket you'd like to create.

    Should you pull the skin down while doing the sidewall to get in there or is this dangerous for the perionychium? I’ve heard you can get in there with the bit but I’ve also heard that you cannot touch the side wall with the bits AT ALL. It feels natural for me to take the keratin buildup out of there but I don’t want to hurt my clients if that’s not the proper way.

    • @EricasNails
      @EricasNails  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We do gently exfoliate the sidewall with Erica's diamond bits and always recommend pulling the skin back from the nail. Watch our other dry manicure videos for recommended bits and techniques on exfoliating the sidewall!

      We recommend cutting them down and softening the skin with the Polisher bit and oil. That way the skin is smoothed down and you don't have a lifted piece if skin tempting you to pull ;)

    what's flossing and why is it a bad idea to do it? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question 😅

    • @EricasNails
      @EricasNails  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no such thing as a stupid question 😊 Flossing is basically running the bit along the groove of the nail. It's a bad idea to do it with the micro taper because you risk over filing the nail. That's why we recommend the detail bit for flossing 🙌

    I see you’re touching the bits to the nail plate a lot, how do I know I’m not filing the nail plate and just the cuticle that’s stuck on there? Sorry I’m a beginning

    • @EricasNails
      @EricasNails  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some bits are used for both cuticle and nail plate; however, bits like the flame bit are used specifically for the cuticle. To determine if you're filing the cuticle or nail plate, you can see where the debris is coming from/if you're exfoliating the cuticle. I hope this helps!

    I watched this tutorial several times to see what I thought I saw. Are your clients know to you? I saw you blow the debri off the nail and you use the brush after. That's considered cross contamination.
