This looks good. For the past 20 years of racing i have had my rig on castors in my lounge room that I've had too move around before and after every session. Now one of my kids has moved out and I have a room all to myself, now I'm setting up something permanent. I've got a long way to go, but I'll eventually get there.
I'm 50 and no longer do any competitive racing, it's all just for fun. It's really nice to be able to watch people like you giving honest opinions on gear and that DIY mods are often the best, nothing gives better satisfaction than using something that you have designed and made yourself.
Doing something ourselves is so satisfying 😃
You will have beautiful times setting your cave 💪
yes to have the base behind the screens is awesome and I did a two years ago. After 14 months my simucube 2 wheel base motor got damaged because the shaft was too long (about 20cm). The manufactures will not pay for the damage of the wheel base when using extensions which are longer than 10cm! (its written down in the manual) In my case it costs me 300 euros to repair just the bearings inside the wheel base. These industrial servo motors are not designed to take this kind of loads, especially when you tend to rest your arms on the wheel while driving and press the whole motor shaft against the bottom motor bearing all the time. If you check the forums many people damaged their bases like this. Be warned that it can be a expensive fun!
I figured this would be the case as well. I wonder if there's a way to custom mount a bearing in the middle of the what with a brace to take the load off. Would probably have to be something very custom
@@Silverturky Tried this with my old Thrustmaster T300, 20inch extension with a ball bearing in the middle. No success. it´s almost imposible to align the angle of the wheelbase with the angle oif the ball bearing without using nasa laser tecnology. This was an endless story and still had strange noises from the wheelbase, something was making forces. Switched to a Moza R9 which is smaler and fits below my tripples.
Thanks for sharing your experience with that brother 🤛
@@TormentorMB I think it could be entirely possible. Using an extension with the same diameter shaft mounted to the wheel base get a bearing that has a housing place it on the shaft connected to the wheel base bolt a metal bar to the bearing start to build your frame from the bearing down to the floor or frame that you wanna attach to.
@@Silverturky its doable.. we run the same type of support in our off road race vehicles using what's called a carrier bearing. Same concept is used in longer driveline / driveshaft vehicles. It doesn't take NASA rocket science to do it, but your limitation will be in the chassis of your sim rig. "very custom" essentially to setup and really not necessary. That all said, I have used the 200mm Moza extension on their R16 for nearly 2 years. I primarily race F1 in Assetto Corsa which has a lot of downforce (VRC Formula Alpha) thus producing high FFB / torque. No issues. But I could see how someone cold damage a DD if their wheel position is as such that they tend to hang and pull on the wheel.
Thanks for the compliments, we appreciate it, looking forward to see more videos with this amazing fov!
Thanks again for your review!

Thanks for the beautiful work man 🤗
It makes world of difference 💪
@@chepilevski 🙌🙏
Extending a big hello from Au mate! ❤ Wheelbase behind the screens is the way to go. Keep it nice n close! 😑🤌
Stay warm champion. ✨️
💪💪
I must say I took my time and actually googled the sizes of the DDUs used in the cars, made templates of cardboard and set the ingame seat position to the size where they are matching when hold against the screen. ( also 32“ iiyamas). My wheelbase is as well behind the center screen with an hub extender. This way it should. E accurate having them at 55 degrees and about 60cm eye distance to all screens.
Like always bro, great video. Expo is getting closer. I almost can taste the beer already. 😂👍
Big hug brother.
Awesome work Alex 💪
2 weeks to go to have a nice chat and beer 😜

No matter the FOV, I still lean forward to try see over my bonnet and around my A pillar 🤣

Then you need a VR HMD
@@Gamer-kn7fi Nah, I need a real race car. Not a fan of VR.
@@TVGrubLive have you already tried it?
@@Gamer-kn7fi Nope and not keen. Don't like the idea of having screens plastered to my face, and I want to see my own hands, etc while driving. Need some kind of augmented reality for me to really want to get into it. Not to mention I just invested $2000 in 3x 32" monitors and stand.
I remember telling you about this brother I’m glad you got around to Trying it. ❤
❤️❤️❤️
this is even useful for VR users. i use the moza extension to allow me to add more profiles across over the wheel base, sort of like a desk space so the keyboard and wind sim goes there. having it lower is more comfortable
Thank you for the video and the detailed explanation of your rig components. Im planning to build my first rig exactly like yours and this helps me a lot! Thanks mate!
Awesome to hear you are diving deep in this brother 💪
It is such a beautiful journey putting everything together 😃
We all know we could use a shaft extender, it's just admitting it to yourself is the tough bit.

I’d like to see a video on how you adjust each car. You need multiple wheels to make this work. I have a wheel with a dash and it looks superb on GTP and formula cars, but on cars with a dash built in it blocks that in build dash. I don’t want to play too much with lowering/raising things. Love your work!
That’s the case indeed buddy and is not good idea to lower the wheel as it will fell super awkward.
Can't wait to get this pov 😂
I wonder how well this will all hold up, that certainly must be putting more strain on the base and just everything as a whole.
Simucube doesn’t suggest to go more then 10cm but for some reason Simagic and Moza have made their own!
i just stumbled over your sim build.
Love it!
Thx buddy 🍻
Bro you should set up a company offering setup advice for peoples rigs, to try to get them dialled in like your own (or close to, the important stuff)
FOV POLICEEEEE!!!!! !!!!!
😁😛
123mm is a bit short and 70mm is too short 🤨. For me, the correct measurement would be 150mm - 200mm like the Simagic extensions.
I have a 150mm Simagic extension and this is one of the best simracing purchases I've ever made 🙂.
Cool videos! Thanks!!
80fov is sweet spot for me. I can't drive fast when the fov is Below 50 fov, the sense of speed feels a bit weird.
Which car, year and game are you playing. I thought it was ACC with Lamborghini GT3, but all the Lambos in my ACC look / sound different.
Great rig and videos by the way. 👏
I’m sorry for asking, is there any approximate info when we can expect review of VNM DD extreme wheelbase? I am excited…overexcited 😂 In same time, this build looks sick, I really like it
I will try to do the video in the week after the Expo buddy!
Means after 21 of October!
@@chepilevski Oh great news! I hope that you enjoy using that wheel base. Looks very promising and nicely developed. And one more time thank you!
@@OldGoldStef for now in terms of feeling is becoming my favorite.
It is insanely smooth and the same time alive.
I just want to spend little more time on my main rig and test few more sims.
@@chepilevski Your feedback means a lot, I’m thinking to buy this wheelbase. I was watching your reaction and I started feeling that this wheel base has real chance to beat your all time favorite SC and simmagic and become new favorite. Also just small advice. Some manufacturers do not produce longer extensions kits because if it’s very long it can damage wheel base. It has sense, because higher you move steering wheel the more pressure is on wheels base components. It’s something like longer leverage. I’m not sure did you know that, so I thought it’s better to share. Maybe it’s smart to ask VNM which distance is safe
@@OldGoldStef i don’t have any choice anyway as my rig requires that distance the way is built.
Hopefully will get some good test with the time and keep well!
The Simagic didn’t had any problems for the last 9 months with 20cm and this is 11 so let’s see how will go 😁
This looks great. Sadly, the Australian dollar is so damn weak these days for me to be able to justify the expense T_T
Hi, i’m checking the situation with the Australian dollar and is terrible, we are trying our best to find an Australian dealer but it will take same times.
Also if you can suggest us some resellers on your country it can help!
I'd be curious to see your fov settings on iRacing.

Amazing content as usual buddy, just to clarify you said the 32 inch monitors are setup at a 50 degree angle & you are 24 inch away with eye distance. Does this give you 180 degree FOV in game? I have the exact same setup but my monitors at at 60 degrees & looking at yours 50 seems to look a lot more realistic. Lastly where are your eyes in relation to the height of the monitors, am I correct in thinking a couple of inches down from centre as oppose to exact centre?
Cheers,
Scott
Hi Scott
The fov I’m getting is around 168 and my eyes are at the center exactly but the sweet spot is bit wide and little up or down doesn’t distort much
Nice video but what’s in that simucube box 😮
What’s in the box man 🙈😛

wow your FOV is great, what lens did you put on your gopro?
Thx Alex🤛
That is actually Osmo 5 and I have that adapter in front for most filter but use it outdoors only!

@@chepilevskiThis recording turned out much better now. I don't know what you improved, but the quality is back and maybe even better than on GoPro.
@@m1ke535 lot of tweaks in the camera and the monitors settings and game settings.
I will try few more things to see if I can get more but I like the results too 🤛
I quite never understood your complete reasoning for decoupling the monitors from the motion rig. So is it basically now not the same as a simple seat mover? Very interested in your feedback
I always felt bit disconnected in any motion I ever seat and was trying to understand why! Was thinking is lag but then I start giving attention what is happening with my body in real car and found how my body is actually moving in relation to the chase trough the G-Forces!
Because motion cannot creat sustainable g-forces I thought will be good idea if I try to simulate mostly what is happening with my body in the cockpit and felt instantly very connected experience.
Whoever try my rig never felt those parts are actually disconnected probably because felt already too immersed!
Fun fact with the belt tensioner is that keeps my body in almost the same distance from the wheel as it pools the opposite way and my elbow angle never changes to the wheel!
Is it a strange sensation to have your wheelbase static while you move with the seat?
No buddy!
I did that on purpose as it feels way more natural to me!
I explained the reason in another video but basically the rig and belt tensioner simulates what happens with my body in real car and feel more connected to the experience 🤛
Day 67 of asking for a sim room tour
🙈🙈🙈🤗🍀
So what you’re saying is to push your base and monitors further so you can see more and not be so close to your monitors? Which then creates a more realistic fov?
No no, the opposite!
When you are closer to the monitors and make them surround you 180 degrees you can push the picture from the sim further back and see more with the calculated FOV!
To achieve that you have to put the base behind the monitors and for that reason you need extension like this with tin core to be able to put the steering wheel high enough 🤛
That’s a long shaft you have there buddy 😂
It is quite long indeed 😁
Id love to know how you have the wheelbqse attarched to the monitor stand
They are two separate paces like one frame with (P) shape for the base which goes around the rig and the just connected to the monitors stand to add weight and be stable!
I explain that in detail in the video of “My rig in 2024”
I recently got the Simcore Simucube extender but I really don’t like the idea of having to losing the bolts inside the wheelbase and then to have it latch on etc. Would you be able to use this simply by removing the Simucube QR and attaching this, and then reattaching the QR?
Hi, yes with our G1 HUB you only need to remove the qr plate, the locking bolt of the simucube will remain as it should lock tightly from the manufacturer.
Then if you want you can reattached the qr plate at the other end of the G1 HUB.
Hope it helps, you can also see the procedure on our setup page on the website!
Cheers,
Gianpaolo
This is great news, now to figure out if 70MM is enough or 123MM is better… I have no idea which to get.
How do you have your camera setup for POV? I have been trying to find videos on how to setup a camera with little luck.
Do you mean camera settings or how I fix it on my head?
Are you using the dji action 5 for this video?
That’s the DJI Pro here indeed
I am using FO48U 48" screens and I dont see how I could use this . The screen is so big that I will not allow me to put it in front of the wheel base even with this kind of extender , unless I am missing something abvious in the way this is being mounted
For that big screen you don’t need that buddy! This is mostly for 23 to 32 inch size monitors!
For big sizes you have to be far from the screens🤛
@@chepilevski hi mate ! long time no speak ! keep the good work up on your channel !!!!!
Is your rig motion-enable? I have a D-box and I struggle because the rig frame and the mounted base hit the monitors as the rig sways around, so I have to push back the monitors quite a bit for safety distance.
Hey man, motion is ON and I’m on 4 actuators but the wheel base is on separate frame !
The motion moves only the seat and the pedals ! I have explained how I did that in another video and why I choose to go that way!
