Eloy is a machine
I can’t believe how good they sound right now. Everyone is absolutely crushing it and Corey’s vocals are almost back to peak 2002. Fucking blown away.
He said at the show they had before this that they were practicing for 4 days before the show and his voice got fucked, which he then said it made him sound more like 1999
The difference is that now the music is at its correct tempo and not at supersonic speed like it was with Jay, now the music sounds more pleasant and doesn't force Corey to sing so much while running.

Okay I was pretty pissed at how they handled Jay's exit, but I have to admit they have NEVER sounded this tight... 2:25 even Joey never played it that perfectly live.

Nah, it won’t be. Corey and Clown have sold out and their old sound is pretty much gone. They’ve been saying that for over a decade. This sounds good because it’s an old song.
From what I gather Iowa was based on Joey and Paul. So I don't think we will ever get anything close to that again. Eloy is a great drummer but I don't think he can write guitar riffs like Joey. Also, he's playing Joey's parts great (live maybe better than Joey himself), but can he write drum parts the way Joey did?
No disrespect to Jay for his drumming but Eloy just absolutely blows it away, that double bass is so consistent and the drumming is precise and no improvised like Jay did alot of times and sounded sloppy
It’s really been bothering me, seeing people leaving comments under people saying how great Eloy is saying “jay was fine” like yeah, jay could barely get the job done…..have no clue how anyone would come to jays defense after hearing them with Eloy. I’ve had a hard time saying Eloy is playing this like Joey in his prime, when in all reality it honestly sounds better with Eloy

Never really listened to Jays era of Slipknot. Felt the same way about him that his previous bands did. He was able to do the gig justice, but was never able to do Joey justice. There are drummers that can, and Eloy is definitely one of them.

Eloy sounds amazing, I'm confused how a lot of the comments make it seem like Jay wasn't doing joey parts justice, can someone explain, I'm a drummer who saw slipknot with Jay 6 times and also saw slipknot with joey, I agree jays studio work was falling a little stale, but was he not playing the joey parts correctly? I'm so confused, but also so happy to have Eloy in slipknot.
He rushed a lot.
He was kinda sloppy to be honest.
And would bag out on some parts he was either too gassed or just couldn't do. Not sure which.
