Body positivity was a movement created for people with disabilities, amputation, skin conditions like birth marks and burns to promote a healthy mindset and acceptance.
It's not for making obesity or anorexia a beauty standard, if you suffer with those then you need help to change and to lead a healthier lifestyle.

This tells me she knows she’s gonna die early and is trying to make peace with it. There’s no saving her. It’s already difficult to lose weight but losing weight in the face of losing your job and your social life is just too much. She’ll never do it. There’s too many upsides for her and she’s basically made her peace with the trade. I don’t think she has a partner or children and probably can’t have them at this point. Everything she is now relates to her being obese. To her, not only is it hard and likely to fail, but she would lose everything that feels important to her now. That’s the exact reason it shouldn’t be glorified. If she didn’t have all these good things related to her obesity then perhaps she’d be willing to try.

As someone who weighs roughly 195 last time I checked (I used to weighs 255 roughly 5 years ago) and living with a hypothyroid disease, it is so incredibly hard to lose weight. I was already above 200 lbs before they even diagnosed me with a thyroid disorder and for years I wondered why I couldn’t lose weight, only gain. In my early teens, I even struggled with Bulimia. It really messed with me psychologically when someone I confided in told me that “fat people can’t be bulimic”.
As someone who eats moderately healthy, I struggle just to stabilize my weight. It takes literal years just to shed a few pounds. Now, that woman is nearly two decades older than me, almost twice my weight, and laughed when the newscaster read her stats back to her. Hun, your health stats are not a laughing matter. Her BMI is 64.6! I’m no doctor, but that has to be extraordinarily hard on her heart. My BMI is currently 31.5. I’m not proud of my weight. Not by far. But I’m slowly learning to like myself a little more and be a little nicer to myself. Due to my thyroid issues I never lost weight like normal teenagers, but now that I’m near my 30s I DEFINITELY do not lose weight easily. As an obese person, I don’t support obesity. It doesn’t look good and it’s bad for your health. Period.
When I was nearly 260, I hated looking at myself in the mirror. I still do, but I’m trying to learn to be a little nicer to myself.

Talking about k-pop standards, a way that some companies use to find the ideal weight for a (female) idol is to take the girl's (yes, I say girls- They mostly debut at like 15-16 years old😬) height, and minus 120 centimeters. Then the take that number and that is the amount of kilograms that they should weigh. So for example, Jang Wonyoung is a popular, very skinny, female idol. She is about 5'8, around 170 centimeters. So 170 - 120 = 50. So therefore, she should weight about 50 kilograms, maybe even less. She is estimated to be around 43 kilograms, so about 103 pounds. Thats really skinny. K-pop standards are honestly kind of scary.

I think- instead of trying to convince everyone else that they need to agree with others opinions and beliefs, that we should actually be practicing how to “politely disagree” with each other.
A lot of the issues nowadays are people (we’ll call them Group A) being angry about something and thinking others should care about it too. There are some others (Group B) that are offended that the 1st people (A) want them to change and to teach the same thing to children.
This does nothing for anyone. Even if the message is one of peace- we cannot control everyone. That’s just how it works; you don’t HAVE TO AGREE…. But you can choose not to be aggressive and cruel about it. This goes to both sides (A & B).
I don’t know how we got to this bizarre place of, “I have my opinion and it’s the best and because you’re challenging it, I’m going to destroy you.” It’s WILD. I’ve fallen to it too, so I’m not saying I’m above this either. It’s like mass brainwashing.
Basically, TLDR: Don’t teach everyone to accept peoples beliefs- teach them people are different and to just be nice regardless of what you really feel. 😐

most issues "nowadays" are caused, generally, by misinformation, complacency, poverty or lack of formal education (you know, real world problems, not online issues), and whatnot.
there is plenty misinformation, but thats been dying down for a while. complacency (and confirmation bias) is a bigger contributor to what people like to call "misinformation." for example, people who are fat and dont want to be shamed for it, whilst also not wanting to go on a diet, are complacent. confirmation bias is people believing ridiculous things because it confirms one of their world views. these 2 factors contribute to misinformation more than just.. people shitting random lies out their ass. people dont believe that crap for no reason.
also, yes, you are supposed to accept someone's ignorant argument! you dont have to, well, use it, in daily life, nor do you have to agree, but you can just, agree not to. obviously, this has limits; when people spread dangerous "ignorant arguments", you have a problem. however, i dont think I should have to explicitly state "this only works within realistic, reasonable, common-sense boundaries. dont let people believe its OK to shoot up a wallmart." i dont think im talking to 5 year olds.
being "nice" doesnt always create an echochamber. you can agree to disagree. you can argue somebody's claim, have that probably fail, and just disagree. or, you can just let people believe the earth is flat. it genuinely does not affect their lies to any dangerous degree. nobody is getting a darwin award because they think the planet is actually a plane. its not that big of a deal, is what im saying.
if theyre affecting others negatively, then yes, they need to be controlled or corrected, but once again, why does this need to be explicitly stated? isnt this common fucking sense? what kind of rebuttal do you have by taking a hypothetical to the extreme?

That 95% stat they always throw out is so deceitful. It's not that 95% of diets dont WORK. They work, it's 95% of people who don't stay ON TRACK because of lack of motivation. When I give up, it's not that it hasn't worked, it's because I create excuses and like food too much. But I can own up to it. If you try dieting for a week and stop after, you probably won't have seen results because the span is too short to see it on a scale. But that's the thing with people who have binge eating disorders... they want instant gratification because that's what they get with the binge. Loosing wait is not an instant gratifier. You won't do 1 hour of cardio and have lost one pound by the end of it. So they lose motivation because of the lack of fast results. I'm basically the same... but I don't blame the diet, because I'm the one who decides to stop, not the diet.
