Every nation has a army. But in Pakistan's case, its the army that has a nation!

Actually, that is not unusual. Other countries where the military is in charge includes Egypt, Myanmar and several African countries recently, Twenty or thirty years ago, there were several dozen, to include Argentina, whose Junta failed after the disasterous Falklands War. Taiwan, Chile, and Bangladesh was under rmilitary control until about 1990, give or take. Indonesia was run by a junta until the late 90's.
And if you go to the Dark Ages, that ws the norm. The various kings and their vassals wer essentially military men with a military body under their direct command. They often lead their men at arms into battle themselves.

DW leaving Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, and Arunachal Pradesh out of India's map; the Indian media should leave East Germany, Bavaria, and Austria out of Germany's map. Yes, Austria is already not shown as part of Germany but Germany and Austria are supposed to be one; the way that India and Nepal are supposed to be one, the way that China and Taiwan are supposed to be one, the way that North Korea and South Korea are supposed to be one. Inside news for those who don't know :
The reason why the West wants Pakistan to survive is not because they are sympathetic to it, but because a functional Pakistan provides a lever to achieve two objectives:
    1. The Pakistani military elite can siphon off the loot to Europe and the US and invest in their overpriced, useless housing there. Or maybe something else as well.
    2. Pakistan provides a lever to achieve the same with India and to a lesser extent, with Afghanistan, by creating mischief at both its borders. It can thus force the Indian elite too, to work for the Western corporation, instead of focusing internally.

    • @ahmedakhan1
      @ahmedakhan1 ปีที่แล้ว +6

The problem is not that "too many resources go into the religion," rather the problem is elite capture of Pakistan's resources. The elite in Pakistan are the politicians, the military, the landlords and big businesses. Not until their grip is loosened will Pakistan come out of the never ending crises. The religious groups do not have much influence on the public in Pakistan as they have never done well in elections. Their influence is due to the military support that that they have received since General Zia-ul-Haq's time (military dictator in the 1980s), The military uses them for their own purposes. In the past the "jihad" in Indian occupied Kashmir, and now to put pressure on political parties when they start challenging the military. An example of this is the use of Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP), a fringe "religious" party used by the military to pressurize politicial parties from time to time.

      হাজার হাজার বাঙালি হিন্দু মুক্তিযোদ্ধা আছে একজন বাঙালি মুসলমান মুক্তিযোদ্ধার নাম বলতে পারেন??

We shouldn't talk about it as if we're dying to take that part of J&K. Don't let them feel attacked, let them feel ashamed by developing our part of Kashmir while their side gets increasingly destabilized thanks to their own mismanagement of their beloved country. And maybe then we'll think about a solution for Kashmir.

There never was a land in history known as pakistan. The people are punjabi, sindhi, baloch or pathans forcefully brought together by partion from Bharat to serve the interests of then english rulers. The ruling elite and army enjoyed themselves at the cost of the masses and have amassed huge wealth abroad.
Even today the ruling army gets its instructions from US who has used them as pawns.
The only solution is to break up pakistan and once the mess has been cleaned up, join back into Bharat in the long term.
Till then the pain and cycle has to be borne by the population and the world.

Really interesting report and a really good overview. I have very mixed feelings about Pakistan- one of the few countries I’ve visited that I genuinely disliked & found it hard to find much good in. The corruption is terrible and far to much of the population combine lack of education ( which can be fixed) but also deeply held ignorance , xenophobia & misogyny ( religious intolerance much harder to address). They are so dumb they keep voting against their own interests, which make no sense to me? Putting hope in making deals with China has to be the worst “two-ended sword” choice.... I hope it can be turned around into a better country.😢

One can’t view Pakistan-India and Pakistan-China relationships in isolation. They have to be viewed along with the India-China relationship.
Saying Pakistan is under threat because they fought 4 wars with India is wrong. Pakistan started all the 4 wars. The fear of India is perpetuated just to assign a large share of the budget to the military.
The expert saying “Pakistan should stop viewing itself as a warrior country “ is right. They should start behaving like a normal country putting the interests of the common citizen first. Unfortunately, it is easier said than done.

The concept of marshal race (warriors) is both a strength as well as a weakness and when particularly when the marshal race is a majority, it's catastrophic.
In the modern warfare consisting of flying weapons, unmanned delivery systems, electronic guidance, outter space occupation, etc. the so called marshal race is a big burden.
Whether it's the Balkans or the South of Caucus or the Central Asia regions, all these places unfortunately were in the middle of various political/ religious /ethnic blocks and always were /are in perpetual conflicts.
Pakistan as a nation should stop being proud of their warrior population. They are fit for fighting and nothing else
If a nation is full of warriors - education, trade, technology, society etc. would be the casualties in that nation. The only trading community in Pakistan were the Sindhi(s) (Hindus) - Pakistan successfully got rid of them in the name of religion.
Sooner they understand their fundamental problem, they have the chance of revival of the economy, else it will become another Afghanistan, always in perpetual wars - both internal and external...

There is no solution to Pakistan's woes...
Everyone loves to blame the politicians but nobody is willing to bell the Cat!
A politician in Pakistan knows that he will come to power and remain in power only if he keeps the military establishment (ME) in good humour!
Naturally he will be accountable to ME rather than to the people.
The Military Establishment in Pakistan controls majority of the resources (share of budget, land & property, businesses, etc) and on top of that it controls the Politicians, Bureaucrats and Judiciary by proxy. The current system which benefits them at the cost of all others - will not be allowed to change - no matter what!
And in order to maintain the hegemony of the ME…. Pakistan cannot afford to improve its ties with India!
It must continue this animosity with India on communal lines - which helped it create a separate country in the name of religion from British India...
Otherwise it cannot justify its existence as a separate country to its own brain-washed people.
There is no escape for Pakistanis!!
