  • According to the IMF, debt is at the highest level in decades. With high interest rates and a global economic slowdown, 60 percent of low-income countries are either already in debt distress or at high risk of debt distress. Pakistan is one country that has gone to the IMF recently for a bailout package. How is the country’s debt burden impacting its people? How is the debt problem further exacerbated by climate change? And what is the role of China’s Belt and Road initiative in Pakistan’s debt situation?
Pakistan is just one of 70 about countries struggling with a debt burden. With debt repayment expected to go up in 2024, will we see a global financial contagion and a deluge of defaults?

I can tell you China adopted a far more efficient repatriated progress toward illegal migrants compared with the EU (This year Chinese Government plans to repatriate 13 thousand illegal migrants). And that is an all-weather partner (the term is a partner instead of a friend in the formal document) at the government level instead of toward certain illegal migrants.

The reason behind the sudden slump in the Pakistani economy is that the remittances from the Gulf countries have stopped coming. People are migrating to Western nations and aren’t willing to come back to Pakistan. They apply for citizenship in those countries. Before their only option was the Middle East, where they would spend at max a decade or two, accumulate money and settle back in Pakistan itself. That foreign money helped the nation in a huge way. The program kept bringing in China with its Belt and Road Initiatives, that it loan too much to countries that had difficulties in repayment. But it did not criticize IMF for its role in destroying social stability of its borrowed countries. Also, USA with its debts of over 33 trillion was not discussed in ways that USA could reduce its debts. 1 way for China to reduce its debts and to service its internal needs is to sell its over 800 billion US bonds.

Well one of the most important thing that no one is talking about - WHY PAKISTAN IS SO ADDICTED TO IMF ??? Mis-Management? For sure. But the most important reason for this addiction is due to the dependency that US/NATO inculcated within Pakistani establishment of the funds that were given to keep up the fight against USSR in Afghanistan.
Secondly, the bullying attitude by keeping world on edge, threatening on World Stage in UNGA - boasting of being the only Islamic country to have the Nuclear Arsenal (that too by theft) at its disposable - so that world should not take them lightly. Pakistan keeps on black-mailing the world organization to keep the money incoming or else they can simply pass the weapons to home-bred terrorists or even transfer the technology to more political de-stabilized countries like Iran, Libya, Nigeria etc.
The first and foremost clause of debt re-structuring and/or debt-relief and even writing off some of the debts should be :
Surrendering/Destroying all the nuclear arsenal and assets. No country with such unstable establishment, economic crisis and disparity should have Nuclear arsenal in their backyard. This is neither safe for their ownselves nor for the world. This is the hard pill Pakistanis have to swallow - else their leaders will keep on jumping on this one dangerous threat tactics.
Secondly, a comprehensive economic doctrine needs to put in place with a oversight committee including world renown economists and policy-makers. Pakistanis have to give up some of their luxurious habits for few decades and bring back the economy to be in par of their similar populated countries.

All I hear is complaints, blame to others. Climate crisis because of western nations, IMF instead of doing debt-restructuring giving more loans(like they could’ve survived without one) and what not.
It all is because they have misplaced priorities, they bring religion into everything, put money in defence and nuclear programs rather than creating its own infrastructure.
Pakistan has been living off IMF loans for decades now, so they stopped working on themselves, because they think someone will bail them out.
But this time it was different because one of the two pillars holding its economy was not there and thus the other one collapsed under extra burden.
Pakistan had created a parallel economy with fake Indian currency, the demonetisation in India destroyed that pillar. Thus the other pillar, IMF loans were overburdened and finally IMF said no more. This is what different from the last 22 times it was saved by IMF.
This religiously gullible public will not hesitate to burn the new coaches from china if someone spreads even a false rumour of some blasphemy relating to it. The people themselves are so naive and stupid that politicians easily make a fool of them by simply blaming everything on India, nobody in Pakistan has an ounce of responsibility and accountability.
They can only come out of this if they keep religion as limited aspect of their life, take accountability for their own problems, do all in their power to remove the corrupt army and politicians.

They have more focus on other’s business than its own. It needs to focus on domestic problems first. Just obsessing on Russia has caused half of world’s problems. Ukraine is one such example. If you try to bring changes to the law that tries to reduce power of the military then your government gets overthrown and you end up in jail. Pakistan's democracy is a failure, since it's independence, none of the government has been able to complete it's term, everytime it gets overthrown by military coup. Just take a look at the most recent case of Imran Khan, he ended up in jail before completing his term in office.

It needs to manufacture and export, doesn't matter if it is industrial or agricultural, it needs to be net export. that's how it works, poorer countries need to be net export and rich countries need to be net import. Global economy is meant to be a circular cycle, the poorer countries can't be consuming more than what they produce, that don't end well.

Birth control is haram, and Pakistan is Islamic nation, and with pinch of radicalisation. So no one dare to bring awareness about birth control.

Pakistan is facing an economic crisis caused by decades of mismanagement and political instability, leading to drained dollar reserves, runaway inflation, and widespread factory closures. The country approached the IMF to intervene and was bailed out with a $3 billion standby arrangement in June 2023. However, the conditions attached to the bailout, such as raising taxes, cutting the fiscal deficit, and letting the exchange rate go, are not enough to fix the underlying structural problems. Pakistan's trade deficit reached a daunting $48.35 billion in fiscal year 2022, forcing the outgoing government to place a ban on non-essential imports to stop the outflow of dollars. The textile industry, which contributes approximately 61% to the total output in Asia and provides employment for about 40% of the country's total industrial workforce, has been hit hard by the import ban and electricity tariff increases. The sector has lost almost 700,000 jobs in 2023 alone, and textile exports have declined by 14% or $2.2 billion US in the first 10 months of fiscal year 2022-2023.

Pakistan is spiralling down into default because of their radical Islamic ideology, and deep hatred for India just because it's a Hindu majority nation. Hatred is ending them.

Pakistan is what India would have been if it chose Religious nationalism over Secularism, strong arm military chauvinism over democracy and if South India wasn't apart of India.

A couple things not addressed, regarding the breakage of the dams. bad water managment is a common problem across the world, if you willynilly divert water the underlying ground structure changes, same with building randomly, causing it to be worse in adsorping the rainfall. Road infracstructure is similar. Also the corruption and waste of money when it comes down to building in pakistan has caused the loan they got from imf and china to build a new hydro electric dame with a lifecycle of 30 years to break down within 10. the problem is systemic within the pakistany system and it will never get solved
