- “It’s not a movement. It’s more like a tsunami that will sweep the country.” This is what Imran Khan told People & Power when we started filming with him in 2010.
Filmmaker Karim Shah was holding the camera that day and knew Khan wasn’t talking about conventional politics. Khan believed something radical was needed to change Pakistan. More than a decade later, the former cricket star had won Pakistan’s premiership, was removed from power and had even taken a bullet.
Amid allegations of corruption and other wrongdoing, Khan spoke with People & Power as we began to follow him for a fourth film before he was jailed in August last year. His party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, or PTI, has been accused of inciting violent protests and faced a harsh crackdown. Khan has been sentenced in several criminal cases, and his party's symbol has been kept off the ballot in long-delayed national elections. So has his political movement been 'run out'?

This is so sad to see Pakistan democracy being attacked. I feel more sorry for the people there who have nothing to do with the politics and leadership. As an Indian I truely hope that democracy is restored and we have peace and harmony restored without any loss to mankind.

Thank you for your honest reporting. This is exactly what’s happening in Pakistan. People have been murdered, arrested, abducted, women have been mistreated and much more. Innocent civilians have been treated like Terrorists. 9 year old Ammar Farooq’s health deteriorated after his Father Mian Abad Farooq was arrested. The hospitals refused to admit Ammar because of his dad being a PTI supporter. Ammar Farooq eventually passed away while waiting for his dad. This Army is brutal with their own people. Imran Khan is a Hero. He is the only hope for a good future of Pakistan.

Pakistan is currently under a hybrid military regime .The military general Syed Asim Munir is the real ruler of the country. The real movers and shakers sit in Rawalpindi(military HQ) and not Islamabad(Civilian HQ). And the Pakistani people themselves know this and it’s more or less acknowledged world-wide.………

Pakistan is an army with a country rather than the typical other way around. As soon as he started criticizing the military's actions, even praising India, which the army always used as the big built up enemy to keep the Pakistani public supporting them, the military was going to oust him and that's exactly what happened.
