You are an excellent teacher. Thank you very much. Waiting for more similar videos of repairing other power supplies. Again thank you very much. You certainly deserve it. May God be with you always, Amen.
Nice job, and after 50+ years of repairs, I learned something new. One suggestion, if you already have the board out, might as well shotgun the electrolytic capacitors, as they are often the issue with switching supplies--especially any on the high-voltage side.
depends on how old they are. doing an ESR check will tell you if the electrolytics are good, marginal,or bad. then you're not replacing caps that are OK. I love my Dick Smith ESR meter. Often, electrolytics going bad will discolor or begin to bulge. Those have to go. Housekeeping supply caps are a common switcher failure.
Good analysis what was broken. - Nice video, - good video cut and - perfect explained what you check - to find the fault in some minutes. Well done and *my thump up*. Additional information = In europe the amount of money for one hour worktime... (plus fuse, plus IC UC3845 at 2023-june-07 = US$ 1.51 + tax + postage or cheapest seller 0,29 Euro + 5,95 Euro postage and wait for delivery) ... is higher than a new 24 Volt SMPS (=switching power supply). We must have a very very very good reason to spend more money as we pay for a new SMPS ... Often we have a lot of spare parts (to repair straightaway, change the SMPS in minutes and get the production plant running). A *new SMPS have* = new *capacitor*, *ventilator*, no oily dirt inside, new diode, new MOSFET, etc and the time to fail is reset to zero for these SMPS. But we have a lot electronic waste parts ...
@@HaseebElectronics I'd like to see you get an isolation transformer for improved safety. I have one in my workshop. Isolation transformers are made with small inter-winding capacitance and other features. SMPS's are dangerous. I really don't like them. You have a great channel, I love it.
i am using it since long. it is much easier than the bench magnifier or handheld magnifier. this app is really awesome play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jkfantasy.camera.jkpmagnifiercamera
Boss, pls thank you for the good work you are doing, am one of your student who have watching and learning from your videos. Pls will I get the socker tool you used to pull components on the board from you to buy?. Thank you very much you really appreciate you videos.
yes at drain to source of mosfet, or across RCD snubber diode, it is safe to test voltage in DC mode. but testing in AC mode, it can damage multimeter or power supply, because the internal capacitor of multimeter provides very low capacitive reactance at high switching frequency
it seems that its current mode error amplifier is to be checked. this ic is driving in over load protection if there is tl494 or ka3525 then check there is some transistor is connected at pin 15 or 16. so monitor pin 15, 16 and its related circuit in case of sg3525 might be pin 1, 2 or its related circuit
@@HaseebElectronics its it tl494 ic circuit , thank you brother I watch your video to learn and dix myself, you are the best tutor for me , thanks again
Thanks! Great job with diagnosing and repair. It should be noted that you should use an IC soldering iron like you have or an IC soldering iron that's isolated. Some IC'S cannot handle the high static voltage that some cheaper irons may have. I've gotten away with it with the IC's I've soldered, but I heard it mentioned on another video how much voltage can be on the tip sometimes. Have a great weekend sir!
best regards yes unsafe ESD based rework tools damage CMOS based components. because ESD sensitive parts damage immediately when there are exposed to any electrostatic charge, even placing in unsafe electrostatic charge area destroys CMOS based components
My station, the Gordak 936A has "ESD SAFE" written on it..many don't have a very good opinion of Gordak tools...can I use it to unsolder a CMOS from a PC motherboard? Thanks for the heads up the potential destruction of IC from this point of view
The Soldering Station used by YOU must be serviceable and must be grounded ! it is important to check the presence of grounding PE wires (YELLOW-GREEN) and their connection to the GROUNDING circuit in the sockets from which you power your repairman's equipment, it is also recommended to use an ESD bracelet on your hand, but such measures are necessary when repairing POWER SUPPLY units
Nice video sir. Is this power supply uses single switch forward topology because there is a large inductor at the output and 250 watt is beyond limits of flyback converter i think
I have a 24-volt, 1500-watt power supply same as this that barely gives a current of 26 amps. After that, it disconnects when the load increases. I replaced the capacitors, and knowing that the transformer coil is made of copper, I could not find any problem. Can you explain how to increase the current and the possible causes of this fault. With thanks and appreciation
some over-current protection circuit problem? a current limiter that's limiting much too low? perhaps a resistor in the sensing circuit that's changed in value. 1500 watts at 24v is a lot of power. switching transformers are about the last component to fail.
He question "why the chip died" has NOT been CLARIFIED by the master!! the 283x/384x chip series is reliable, and simply DOES NOT BURN for no reason!, the cause of the breakdown is not clear!!! so there may be a REPLAY SOON!!! a common reason for chip failure is bad capacitors in its strapping -they should always be changed even if they seem to be alive! When checking the capacitor in in an pulse source AC/DC DC\DC, it is important to control not only the capacity of the Equivalent Series Resistance(ESR), bad caps can have a larger ESR with a capacity close to that indicated on the part being checked
some ICs fail when new,;infant failures",a small number fail later on. ESD can shorten the life of an IC. ESR checkers are very useful for doing a lasting repair. I have one.
