    Amazing gym, smart layout where every square inch is used efficiently and well thought-out set of machines and gadgets!

    amazing gym bro! Thanks for sharing, an HD version of your video would have been awesome to see your great pieces better! I am all in with you with not having a power rack, I have one in my home gym but nearly never use it, when you have the right machines, you don’t see any benefit of using a rack and a barbell instead of your machines

    Seated leg curl FTW. Lots of nice kit in there. Amazing what you can fit if you forego a squat rack and room for oly lifts.

      Ya forget that machines are way better

    • @stevephla
      @stevephla 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bdog98765 True, there are some machines that are superior. Converging incline press, seated leg curl, Nautilus pullover, peck deck. But I would toss all of the leg press machines and hold on to the hack squat. Always found leg extensions weird on the knees too. I’ll always do the power lifts.

    Love this gym dude! I'm also looking to improve my garage gym. Where do you find your pieces from? Any reputable sites or sources to get good deals? Appreciate any help!

      @@stevenbean09 marketplace or bought new. I have a good friend who flips equipment and I got to know a lot of people in the market who buy and sell equipment. Most of my finds are through them. A lot of it was just searching marketplace daily. My pieces came from a variety of places - gyms closing down like a golds gym, US department of justice, random home gyms from NJ to NC, and equipment resellers in FL etc.
      Depending on the area you live there are some awesome people that source things for you. Online I never opted for. There are a few good sites

      Cybex seated leg curl - marketplace - DC Department of Justice Gym
      Sorinex Cable Column - marketplace - North Carolina someone had it in their home gym
      Prime replica pulldown - marketplace - an equipment flipper, who got it from somewhere
      Matrix leg press - gym that closed down
      Cybex selectorized hack - marketplace New Jersey - guy who resells equipment from gyms
      Nautilus chest - marketplace - My buddy grabbed from down south like Florida for cheap and I bought from him
      Prime bench - had it delivered to me from NY for half price. Marketplace
      Life fitness hyper - marketplace local to me from random guy

    U should check out Iron Phoenix home gym. He’s the only other person with the garage similar to yours that has all machines and a pretty good bodybuilding set up. His is mostly upper body though.

      @@Cd11998 that’s the plan someday I think. Love the cybex hack selectorized but eventually I’ll probably go the prime route. For now I’m happy with the set up.

    Great gym. I heard you say that you love having the seated and lying leg curls both for hamstring day. If one only had room for one leg extension/leg curl, what would you pick, your Prime plate loaded combo or something else? Would you prioritize seated curl vs. prone? Thank you.

    • @josephearhart6623
      @josephearhart6623  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ctdefender110ct5 if I had room for only one piece I’d still go prime combo. It’s the best combo I’ve tried by a wide margin.
      The best seated leg curl/leg extension combos right now I think are cybex VR1 (but light stack) and hoist (older model) dual and gymleco has a combo I haven’t tried, nautilus instinct. But there are a fair bit of “decent” ones out there that are commercial but so many aren’t even close to as good as the standalone models. Primes is 95% as good as the stand alone pieces.
      Combos that are lying/leg ext are more frequent - Atlantis has a good one too.
      I prefer seated leg curls to lying but I love having both in my gym - lying hits the sartorius in the lengthened position. Seated hits overall hamstring heads in the lengthened. But I love having both for variation.
      If you have limited space and can’t get the prime combo, cybex vr2 leg extension and separate seated leg curl are great picks you can find cheap on marketplace and are small footprint. They take up not much more room than my prime combo in a single spot. Then you get the seated leg curl.

    sick set up. is the prime stability pad stable and strong enough for heavy t bar row? i couldn't find the capacity on their site

    • @josephearhart6623
      @josephearhart6623  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Benjaqu with my set up no - I have magnets holding my upright in place to the freemotion frame plus concrete wedge anchors at the floor. If you put the prime stability pad on an upright that is fully braced to a wall or squat rack - I think you could do t bar rows off it but not max weight. I don’t think it’s designed for that heavy duty an application - much more suited to be a chest brace for cable rowing rather than holding body weight plus 100s of lbs.

    • @josephearhart6623
      @josephearhart6623  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michaelderenne9838 totally understood brother. If I had room I’d have the prime HLP. I just personally don’t barbell bench ever - much prefer ROM on dumbbell and cable and machine variations. I also hardly barbell squat even when I had the rack in my old gym. I prefer lunges, hacks, leg press and split squats. My back squat is all glute dominant even high bar, and I get better glute stimulus from RDLs and split squats and leg press than that. So I dropped the rack
