@XDranzer000 As far as I know It's because of European music history! :-) The 'Suite' form developed in France in 17th century. Musicians and composers were very curious about what was new in music and they traveled and corresponded a lot more than you would think! The suite with the french names was very popular until mid -18th century. Sometimes called Suite de dances or Ouverture or Partita.

I can't believe this whole TH-cam channel exists, for free. It's like all you needed to access to Heaven was a wifi connection. I can't believe the quality of every single interpretation/video. How is it even possible to listen to all of this for free? I just can't believe it. I found the channel only this morning and I spent the day listening to it feverishly. I worship every single member of the Netherlands Bach Society. Thank you so much. You don't know how much all these videos are a source of joy to a fan of Bach like me.

Many thanks for these kind words! It was our main goal from the start to keep All of Bach for free. It is indeed an expensive project, but all worth it! The last 4 years we received funds from Dutch subsidiaries, and since May it is possible for private donors to donate money. Check our page allofbach.com/en/support-us/ for more info!

I really really love this Performance!! I can't tell why but every other interpretation of this piece from other cellists sounded lifeless to me. Pincombe did a great job and I would love to hear his interpretation of the other suites with this kind of emotion.
    Thank you Steuart!

  • @smoothsailor5101

This was the description of life itself. It starts calmly then gets to the excitement and joy of youth but then the joy is interrupted by great sadness and melancoly. The sarabande is the turning point, the crisis that tempers human life. The menuets are the coping with life's adversity, the acceptance and resignation to its imperfections but also humankind's resilience to withstand difficulties and at last the synthesis of life and death, good and evil.
I admired most the interpretation of the sarabande. Such outcry of pain, strife and misery, the cellist surpassed the possible! His instrument became the human voice of ignored supplications, fervent pleas, anxious plaidoyers, it was great and terrifying, violent and complaining at once, it was the catharsis of life and its sense. I salute this cellist with respect and admiration.

The tempos for the Prelude, Allemande and Sarabande are the first time that I’ve heard someone besides myself decide that they need to be slower in order to bring out the pathos and longing that is inherent in Bach’s sublime music. This channel does not spare expenses when recording their performances, and people who listen on shitty speakers or headphones are missing out, big time. I always love watching professional cellists play. They break every 'rule' your average teacher has about posture and bow holds, and literally each one has some different way of sitting/holding the cello/bowing/etc. Just goes to show you it doesn't matter how you do it. Just make it sound good. Also just realized this guy is playing old school style without an endpin. Sick.

Wunderschöne und spannende Aufführung dieser etwas melancholischen und perfekt komponierten Suite im gut phrasierten Tempo mit ein bisschen neue-sachlichem Ton des Solocellos und mit möglichst effektiver Dynamik. Wahrlich genialer Cellist!

This suite is even more introspective than the 5th one in C minor. It is a complete contrast when heard just after the previous one, the suite 1 in G major.

The camera moving through the chairs and finally finding the performer beautifully resembles the "searching" idea of the piece.

He makes it sound almost like a viola da gamba. His sound is very masculine, too. He plays with true fire and intelligence.
    Bravo!

David A- what exactly does 'feminine' sound like - lacking fire and intelligence??

Judging by the bow and the overall position in which he is playing, he's using a baroque cello, so yeah, almost a viola da gamba

Amazing piece!. I am always in awe of musicians playing baroque instruments / gut strings and the tonal qualities produced. I keep coming back and listening again to this piece!

Played by the book: no excessive thrillers, metrics preserved, harmony and melody also. Yet, output is pure jazz.
Contemplative. Single tones were haiku and each pause sounded like thunder.
    Milestone performance. Bravo!

As of April 20th, 2021, 41K people make me have hope for Humanity, 774 make me preoccupied... I mean, you may not appreciate Bach or Baroque Music, but why, oh why you have to leave a dislike? Just go and find whatever you love. I want to express my opinion that if I had to select a sample of 10 videos from TH-cam to present the achievements of Humankind, this would be one of them. Thank you so much to the musician for cultivating such a talent, and thank you to all of those involved in the production of the video. As to the 774 dislikings of this video, that makes about 2%: on a typical day if 2 in 100 people dislike you, there are chances that you are really good: let's take what's positive in this. :)
