the best rekeying video on the channel. well explained we need more education for new pickers. that's how we get more videos you hit home run 😎😎😎👍.now we can make some challenge locks to pass around.thanks Sparrows.
This is the vid that made me a subscriber. It's been a few years, a lot of picks, and even more laughs. Sorry to see you retire, Bill, but 100% understandable. So long, and thanks for all the fish!
I saw those mini pinning mats on their website earlier today and immediately said I'VE GOT TO HAVE THAT! for a good small pinning tray the price is outstanding!
I've literally just began getting into lock picking, I haven't started picking as of yet put I have ordered a beginners pick set and four progressive locks all from Sparrows as well a this reload kit as a result of witching you recommending them on your channel. I'm sure this will keep me going for a long long time. I'll continue to watch your clips, new and older, as i find them easy to follow and informative. Thanks Bosnianbill.
I have never seen this type of ratio of likes to dislike, I think you have a serious record!! Super well done and definitely thanks much for your years of service and helping us newbies..
Thanks for this awesome review! I ordered the reloaded kit and a sparrows cutaway core for a total of about $45 us. ant wait to start really practicing! Padlocks are great but this will really let me step my game up
I'm the UK and I have ordered from Sparrows website a few times in fact last week I ordered the item Bills currently reviewing. I am not affiliated at all with Sparrows or BosnianBill I just appreciate what they have to offer, I am also probably a very picky customer (No pun intended) I can not rate Sparrows highly enough, I had one problem with an order and the customer service was outstanding. Shipping rates very reasonable. I use Paypal for payment and I will continue to use Sparrows before any other vendor. I judge a company on when things go wrong, Sparrows products have been good quality and prices that wont break the bank and 1st class customer services. Postage times can vary this is out of the control of Sparrows one order I got in 5 days and another took 3 weeks but I always get my items and its always been worth the wait. Thanks to Bill yet again....
Added to the Christmas wishlist! Your channel is what got me interested in lockpicking, and this video is no exception. Even if I'm still working on learning security pins, your videos continue to keep me motivated. These are always a treat to watch, so thanks for doing what you do!
Bill, thanks for giving me something to tinker with while on the road as a truck driver. Not much room in my truck for hobbies so picking is a good challenge. Thanks again.
A very detailed and great video. The extra work of cutting the lock to show the pinning just shows the extra mile you go to in fully explaining the work at hand. Very nice. Thank you.
Big thanks. I got the progressive locks last month and this month need this repinning kit, to get more out of those locks. Big thanks for the demo of how to use it. Without this video, I would have pulled that key out and launched everything, almost certainly. The progressive locks were prettier in 2016 than they are now.
I just hand filed 4 kwikset keys for each of the schlage keys. I couldn't afford a schlage deadbolt but this works quite well! Thank you for this video and for the video on hand filing your own keys!
Exactly what I was looking for. I just received my kit from Sparrows and it had no instructions with it. This was perfect timing. Thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge.
Hi Bill this is Ryan and I say excellent review of the Sparrows Progressive locks and the reload pinning kit with tweezers. After I first came across and watched this video I ordered from Sparrows those item's and I also ordered the cutaway spool training lock, I received all of it a few days ago and I am getting a lot better at picking locks already
I will definitely have to look into to getting those sets. practice practice practice. knowing how to pick locks has proven to be quite a useful skill.
I just purchased the pinning mats and the new Dark Shift pickset. I don't need any more picks but the Dark Shift has the Sandman pick in a "standard" handle. The Dark Shift set does look pretty cool though. Hope Sparrows will be making the picks available separately
I am kinda new to watching your ch an i just ordered what you just showed on the video . Your video are awesome I ordered a set of Rutan picks the first lock master lock i tried i had it open in less then a min. I catch on to things fast , i am 54 yrs old last both my legs above the knees in 1993 . i have done so many things so far and this is the new thing to do, thanks for great video, been watch all them.
Bill A suggestion I have noticed. Put a piece of trim molding around the edge of your work bench to contain "Run Aways." Once you learn the small height difference of the molding, with vices and other tools you put on your bench, it becomes second nature. It doesn't stop the sproings though.
Great video on repinning on the fly! Bill, you keep doing videos like these and it's going to make my search for an apprentice who already knows the basics a LOT easier. I love those two small mats (perfect size for a mobile locksmith working out of a smaller vehicle instead of the traditional van, one who likes to (or has to) repin door by door, or for someone who just doesn't have a lot of dedicated space for a larger mat on their bench) In fact they'll fit perfectly in the "tools drawer / space" found in a lot of the smaller pin kits. Sparrow's really thought this kit through, especially adding extra cylinder cap retention pins and ESPECIALLY retention pin springs (because, OH YES folks... they DO tend to go bye bye from time to time, no matter how careful you are or how often you've done it, so it ALWAYS pays to have extras) The progressions seem pretty fair representations of typical pin arrangements and how they can complicate raking or picking, and the Schlage C keyway is a pretty good one to learn on (not as wide open as Kwikset, not as tight as others, a good "middle of the road" intro to picking... Something I'd like to see from the Sparrows kit are tailpieces included, either with the basic cylinders or the refill kit... as especially when figuring out if raking will do the trick to get an unlock, they can make a bit difference in what you can reach on the #5 and #6 chambers with a lot of rakes.
If I don't win it I'm definitely buying that reload kit! Did my first repin no more than a hour ago and used a towel because I don't have any proper gear. Thank you for bringing this awesome set to my attention.
Daddypants11 That was very "inventive" to use the towel. The main purpose is to control "loose" items, "springy" parts and all necessary small tools. I used a hard desk to begin with and like Bill said, Parts like to jump out on you. Later I put a piece of trim molding around my work bench to help run aways.
A well explained and demonstrated video, Bill. Since the cores are not blocked, as far as the pin holes go, can see all the possible pin positioning for the 2 and 3 pin cores. At those prices, this is one heck of a package. Now, about their version of bacon.
Long time lurker, first time commenter. I like your stuff - clear videos and explanations a five year old can understand. I like that. Off to have a look at the Sparrows site.
Thanks for the demo Bill. been picking for about a year now and have a decent idea of how the world works. always good for me to go back to the basics because I'm completely self taught
I've went to their site several times, and even added stuff to my cart a few times and have yet to actually pull the trigger. This has made the decision for me. I've been scrounging up locks lately with various security pins to work with, so this will be perfect!
Love the design of this Sparrows Reload Kit. Nice to see they're taking note of what we're all saying too on the forums etc. This kit looks like a bargain with all the additional springs and different pins too. Couldn't be more pleased to see this product 😁 Must order mine asap. Thanks Bill and Thanks Sparrows too. 😀👍
Finally got around to repinning and I should have paid better attention. Forgot to turn the core when pulling it out of one and a pin must have dropped down. Not too worried, as there are still 3 others to do right. Managed to pin up the green key with no problems. :) Thanks for the tutorial! Edit: Recovered the one lock. Good thing springs are springy!
I reloaded my first one last night. Since the two pin of the progressive set is too easy now. I reloaded it with the 5 pin green key. I will soon reload the 3 and 4 pin ones also. While I am very impressed with with the reload kit for the price, I would like to have better springs. The springs are not tall enough for the large solid brass set I got. But I will get there. Thank you for the great video. Helped me a lot.
This video is outstanding. You make everything look so easy. I’ve always just been a hobby lock picker for the last 5 or so years, just doing it whenever I’m bored, but I’ve recently wanted to be more serious and practice security pins etc. Learning how to repin locks and seeing how simple it can be makes it excited to receive my sparrow repinning kit in the next few days to do it myself at home. 😃
Just ordered the kick start, expansion, mini mats and some heavy bars from sparrows! After having some success with home made tools, I can’t wait to get my hands on these tools! Love the vids Bill 😍
@bosnianbill thank you very much for showing me this kit. I just bought every bit of this so Sparrows owes you some credit if you don't already have it. This is great at such a low price, this will improve my picking skills vastly I hope. Again, thanks very much I've gotten so much knowledge from your videos.
Exciting! First time in what, years(?) since you've done something beside pick locks. We're still waiting for you to show us how you make a key to fit a lock. Pleeeeease?
Pretty good guide, bill. Just a couple things you missed that can really make a big difference. The first is pretty simple: always grab your pins (and springs, if necessary) as close to the 'top' as possible. This lets you set them nice and deep in the chambers and they'll grab the lip better when you press the follower against them. Second, most locksmiths I've worked with will tell you to split the work of filling the bible - three pins from the front of the lock, working forwards, and three pins from the back, working backwards (or two in the front/back or four or whatever, depending on how many pins). This also gets you into the mindset of remembering which chambers are which (for locks where it matters), which side of the lock is which, manipulating the follower back and forth without dropping anything, etc. If you're not getting into locksmithing this is obviously less necessary, but it is a lot easier to work only three or four pins in instead of trying to reach all the way through the entire cylinder to drop in those fifth, sixth and seventh pins.
Amazing kit!! I wish I didn't already buy myself a christmas gift from sparrows!! Keep the videos coming Bill!! Also, please accept my father-in-law's Vietnam lock!!! My wife would love nothing more than to see it picked!!!
Thank you for posting all your content. I have just begun to learn and your videos have really helped. If I don't win the give away I'm definitely getting this set to continue learning.
Having seen a couple of guttings on Bosnianbill and LPL channels, I think getting some old locks and re-pinning them oneself to be 2, 3, 4, and 5 pin locks may also be attractive if you're on a budget. Then you already know what's in them, too.
Bill, I blame you for everything ... ... found your channel round about two weeks ago and started watching, not knowing anything about lock picking (apart from the movie stuff) ... and now I am completely hooked on this :) Got me some picks from Chris out of the UK and today I picked my first two (cheap) Burg-Wächter padlocks (yayy!!). Though, I guess it was more luck than anything else, but still ... THE WORLD IS MINE ... muahahaa :D Keep it up! Thanks, Dan from good (c)old Germany
Awesome video Mr. Bill. I just ordered this kit and the standard pin cut away. I was thinking I'd like a non cut away lock for a raking setup. If I get a Schlage cylinder with a tailpiece will I still be able to use the follower to take off the back cap? Just got my crappy banggood 12 pick set 2 days ago (identical to the Azure translucent lock one you reviewed). I hope I will enjoy lockpicking. I just spent way more than I thought I would on Sparrow's site. I should have more tools than skill for sometime. I got: Chaos Card The Competitor Octo Rake Short Hook 0.015 Hall Pass Adams Rite Bypass driver Sparrows SHANK SPARROWS Padlock ByPass Driver Master Switch Padlock Shims Comb BAR Steep Hook 0.015 Snake Rake .015 Standard pin Cut away Lock Reload Kit with tweezers I was going for a zombie apocalypse/learn to pick set. I'm going to get .025, .040, and .050 flat bars too. I can't wait to pin some stuff up!
those mini pinning mats are the best thing since sliced bread, i hate using folded paper or cardboard for a pinning mat, and i didnt want those giant pinning mats since i dont have a lot of room. the mini rubber trays are great and even have little spaces for parts. amazing product! and so cheap too.
Thanks again Bill for another good review. I am itching now to buy those kits on payday. But you never know your luck, so for the first time I entered the giveaway via the site. Thanks for putting t he kits up for giveaway! I really need to get into some hands on picking. Even if I don't win I cant pass up those two kits for the price!!
Hi Bill, love all your videos. I'm new to lock picking, but I was always curious as a child. I've picked a few doors and some combination bike locks as a kid but nothing to brag home about. After watching you, I've been inspired to learn more about this fascinating skill. I've purchased this kit as well as many other picks and rakes. I even bought the updated practice locks. To use the security pins from this set, I'm assuming you would use any of the keys and instead of a standard driver pin, it would be whatever security pin I want to practice with, right?
After you're done with that 2 pin lock key it would be very easy to file those 2 peaks down to make a bump key. It would probably work for the other (3,4,5 pin) keys as well
I was going to order some Sparrow products, including this reload kit. But living in Japan I got directed to a different site. Of course shipping increased, that was expected. But there were two additional charges for PST and GST(???). But the shocker was that in addition to these charges, the base prices of the products were jacked up by 20~25%. Very disappointing.
at 12:24 I accidently pulled the core out and now the core and key are stuck, the core is half way out with they key in it, I tried everything to get it unstuck nothing is working, any suggestions? Thank you
the best rekeying video on the channel. well explained we need more education for new pickers. that's how we get more videos you hit home run 😎😎😎👍.now we can make some challenge locks to pass around.thanks Sparrows.
Larry Marrs I almost ordered it last night but tho7ght I'd wait and see if I won first lol
i guess I'm kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good site to watch new series online ?
@Boston Mordechai I watch on Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Dean Bentlee definitely, I have been watching on FlixZone for since march myself :)
@Dean Bentlee Thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it!
This might be the best How-to vid you've made, Bill. Awesome kit.
He's my favorite teacher!!!
Sold. Just placed my order.

Thanks for this awesome review! I ordered the reloaded kit and a sparrows cutaway core for a total of about $45 us. ant wait to start really practicing! Padlocks are great but this will really let me step my game up
Sparrow does it right. Nice!
Yes they do! They also seem to pay a lot of attention to the needs and suggestions of the LockSport community.
Started lock picking only a couple of weeks ago, and your channel has been an incredible resource. Thank you for all the work you put in!
It's such a pleasure buying from Sparrows, great company who listens to the customer.
Love the exchange rate!

Added to the Christmas wishlist!

2 likes! One for the main video and a 2nd for the how-to at the end. Very helpful, thanks.
just ordered my first Southord pick set based on your recommendation I can't stop watching your videos and can't wait to get started keep it up!

Fantastic. Well done Bill. This is a great way to get the biggest bang for your bucks. You can up your game just by changing the pins.
3 years later I'm thinking about ordering this kit. I'm sold.
This will be the first set I buy when I exhaust playing with my old locks. Thanks.
If I don't win it I'm definitely buying that reload kit! Did my first repin no more than a hour ago and used a towel because I don't have any proper gear. Thank you for bringing this awesome set to my attention.
Daddypants11
That was very "inventive" to use the towel.
Thanks Bob. Just ordered one. Sparrows kit is so much better than the Chinese junk I started off with
Thanks for the demo Bill. been picking for about a year now and have a decent idea of how the world works. always good for me to go back to the basics because I'm completely self taught
Great informative review especially for us novice pickers and kudos to Sparrows for making them available and affordable, excellent learning tools!
Thanks Bill, I just fixed my padlock using this video :)
Excellent video. I just bought a few of their practice locks and a re pinning kit. I was a little confused about the tailpiece now I know.
that kit is easily worth it just for the security pins, especially the mushroom pins. wonderful little kit!
Crazy you post this today as I actually bought both kits today
@bosnianbill thank you very much for showing me this kit. I just bought every bit of this so Sparrows owes you some credit if you don't already have it. This is great at such a low price, this will improve my picking skills vastly I hope. Again, thanks very much I've gotten so much knowledge from your videos.
Exciting! First time in what, years(?) since you've done something beside pick locks. We're still waiting for you to show us how you make a key to fit a lock. Pleeeeease?
THIS is the best video ever! Bill, you sir are the MAN
Great how to video. Thanks. Now I'm torn between this and the ultimate adversary training lock.
Thanks for all of the work you do for us. I ordered this during the black Friday sale.
This is exactly what I was looking for to get in to making challenge locks!!!
best pick review channel i've found so far
just looked at the mini mats. may as well get the whole thing. great deal.
Brilliant kit well done Sparrows. Bill, outstanding as always.
That is a great set and a great review thank you for keeping us up to date with the latest and greatest
Just ordered me a sparrow cutaway along with the reload kit. I think I’m ready to try security pins. Nice video.
Good tutorial. Good review. Bonus points for using crenelated and détente in same video!
If you're not getting into locksmithing this is obviously less necessary, but it is a lot easier to work only three or four pins in instead of trying to reach all the way through the entire cylinder to drop in those fifth, sixth and seventh pins.
ok, ordered the repinning set with tweezers, folowers training lock and padlock shims, for cristmas, ty bill
Now this is really a great give a way.🔓 What a good idea on the locks, not a bad price,💲 same with the kit. 🔏Very In formidable Mr.Bill. Thank you. 🔑
They're even nicer now. The locks are bigger and easier to grab for those of us without a vise and even more security pins.
Amazing kit!! I wish I didn't already buy myself a christmas gift from sparrows!! Keep the videos coming Bill!! Also, please accept my father-in-law's Vietnam lock!!! My wife would love nothing more than to see it picked!!!
neat. I was gonna try to buy some locks from you but this looks like the way to go
Thank you for posting all your content. I have just begun to learn and your videos have really helped. If I don't win the give away I'm definitely getting this set to continue learning.
Like the kit, best instructionnal re-key video I've seen so far !
Having seen a couple of guttings on Bosnianbill and LPL channels, I think getting some old locks and re-pinning them oneself to be 2, 3, 4, and 5 pin locks may also be attractive if you're on a budget. Then you already know what's in them, too.
Very useful bit of kit, like the dinky mats.
Nice clear explanations, good camera work good narration.👍💨😁
Bill, I blame you for everything ...
... found your channel round about two weeks ago and started watching, not knowing anything about lock picking (apart from the movie stuff) ... and now I am completely hooked on this :)
Got me some picks from Chris out of the UK and today I picked my first two (cheap) Burg-Wächter padlocks (yayy!!). Though, I guess it was more luck than anything else, but still ... THE WORLD IS MINE ... muahahaa :D
Keep it up!
Thanks,

Awesome video Mr. Bill. I just ordered this kit and the standard pin cut away. I was thinking I'd like a non cut away lock for a raking setup. If I get a Schlage cylinder with a tailpiece will I still be able to use the follower to take off the back cap?
Just got my crappy banggood 12 pick set 2 days ago (identical to the Azure translucent lock one you reviewed). I hope I will enjoy lockpicking. I just spent way more than I thought I would on Sparrow's site. I should have more tools than skill for sometime. I got:
Chaos Card
The Competitor
Octo Rake
Short Hook 0.015
Hall Pass
Adams Rite Bypass driver
Sparrows SHANK
SPARROWS Padlock ByPass Driver
Master Switch
Padlock Shims
Comb BAR
Steep Hook 0.015
Snake Rake .015
Standard pin Cut away Lock
Reload Kit with tweezers
I was going for a zombie apocalypse/learn to pick set. I'm going to get .025, .040, and .050 flat bars too. I can't wait to pin some stuff up!
Just bought one thanks to this vid. Awesome, thanks Bill!
Excellent, I wish I had seen this when I placed my order a couple of weeks ago. I got the standard and spool pin progressive lock kits.
that is a nice beginner's set up...
I needs it.
I learned so much from watching these videos thanks for making
As always, great vid Bill! And honestly, this really looks like a quality product. Not like those cheep acrylic practice locks
Bill - thanks so much man! This video set me straight on using my new Reload Kit. Lots of picking in my near future!!!!
What A Fantastic Kit Bill. Very Very Nice Sparrows...! Great Video As Alway Bill. Keep up the great work. Nick.
those mini pinning mats are the best thing since sliced bread, i hate using folded paper or cardboard for a pinning mat, and i didnt want those giant pinning mats since i dont have a lot of room. the mini rubber trays are great and even have little spaces for parts. amazing product! and so cheap too.
Today, I got my reload kit. It contains also these cute chess pins. Pretty cool.
Fantastic how-to video, Bill... Thanks!
Stupid beginner question: At 13:12 on the blue key, I count 4 pins to that key. Why? Is the most distant downhill on the key counted as a pin?
I am new to lock picking, but good video...thanks
It would probably work for the other (3,4,5 pin) keys as well
Great video very interesting to all whether amateur or professional. Thanks Bill
Will be buying for sure. Cheers.
I bought this stuff.
Wow, now I am hooked (no pun) .
Thx.

Wow I just commented on the last video about needing to get new locks. I am so going to try and win this.
Very nice set.... good review, clear explanation.
Very nice! Wished you would have rake-picked it for a complete tutorial. :)
hah, saw the Sparrows review yesterday and ordered it immediately... mostly for the pinning trays and the mushroom pins. :)
Another great vid, Bill - have learned so much from this channel, thank you!
It's even better with the exchange for the GBP.
bill I love your channel! you have taught me so much and I thank you for your video's. keep up the good work
at 12:24 I accidently pulled the core out and now the core and key are stuck, the core is half way out with they key in it, I tried everything to get it unstuck nothing is working, any suggestions? Thank you
