    I’m a paramedic. I routinely have calls where grandma fell, can’t get up, and doors are locked. Usually the Fire dept has to come and gain entry for us with tools meant to separate doors from frames. I have thought about getting picks to prevent delayed entry and the use of force which sometimes damages their doors. This seems like a great product for me to consider for my gear. Every door I’ve came across has been standard KW style.

      The problem with these specific tools is that you need a different one for every keyway. So the costs add up really quickly.
      But, if you can convince work to pay for it, do it!

      For a paramedic in an emergency there are MUCH easier ways to gain entry without picking the lock. For example, a traveler hook will gain entry to most residential locks without damaging and much quicker than picking.

      I used a device like this when I was a locksmith, but it was for a truck, not a regular lock. The owner had lost he key to her truck and I had to decipher the layout of her ignition system, in order to make a new key for her. preograming the key to actually work, took longer than deciphering the pin layout.....based on that....id say its going to be one tight race.

      @@Jehty_ wow I got a reply? Awesome. My progress is as such: I continue to pick and re-pick the 7 locks I have. I bought a cheap set of those tubular lock impressioning tool set. Have yet to find a lock I can try it on. The Walmart store didn't have any. There's a vending machine where I work that has one, but I'm not even going to come close to touching it. Be my luck the FBI would run in on me while I was doing it. (I have no ill intent. I just want to learn.) Since I started I bought two books on the subject of picking locks. I was NOT pleased with them. I have since thrown them in the trash. Because I've learned tons more by watching TH-cam videos. I bought two locks at the Dollar tree, and believe it or not they're giving me a harder time than anything. Master locks are a joke, as you and everyone else knows. My interest has not waned any. It's a fascinating subject. (Or else I am easy to impress.) I don't know if I told you before I bought a $40 Amazon automotive or entry set. I mostly need it in case somebody else needs to get into there vehicle. It's pretty nice set. I would advertise that I would pick lock for free, but I recently found out that the small town of Urbana Ohio that I live in has a corrupt Police department. The police chief has been the police chief for 53 years! So all I would be doing would be getting myself into trouble by advertising. Ohio does not regulate locksmithing, I found out. Thanks for asking about my progress. I sure wasn't expecting somebody to check up on me. Certainly not you. I would have figured you to be too busy.

    The side bonus is you can use that grid to decode how to cut the key. Sometimes when I go to a re-key job, the new owners of a house don't have the keys except the front door. If you happen to be looking around an area and police stop you with picks, might be more than enough to say your intentions may not be legal. Picture this: Tom Cruise is struggling to open a maximum security vault in a Mission Impossible style heist, so he phones LPL, and LPL comes to the scene. You see his silhouette casually stroll up to the vault with his hands in his pockets. His soothing voice pacifies Tom Cruise in his most desperate hour of need.
    "Click out of 3...5 is set...1 is loose...Click out of 4...aand it's open. So yeah guys I would recommend Lishi for beginners and professionals alike." LPL hands Tom Cruise a beer. Tom tries to open it before realizing the top is padlocked. When he looks up, LPL is already walking away.

    For anyone interested, Li Zhiqin (李志勤) is the guy on the picture and the Chinese text and a locksmith. The reason why the brand is called Lishi (李氏) is that shi basically acts as a suffix to a family name, because in Chinese people are usually referred to by their full names, their family name + occupation, or their given names. The shi suffix gives people (mainly writers nowadays) an option to refer to someone by their family name alone. Unless they are the emperor or Winnie the Pooh of course, nobody dared to mention their names :) Today shi most frequently appears in historical texts referring to wives and mothers of famous men because the historians couldn't be bothered to record/couldn't find their given names, as Chinese women don't change their surnames when married.

This eliminates much of the skill required for common use lockpicking, and to think enterprising criminals won't pick up on this is naive.
      That said, it also has uses for those who aren't criminals. In this comment's section, I saw a paramedic who has had many issues with entering the homes of elderly people who have been injured due to their doors being locked. They often have to wait for the fire department to force entry into the house. This tool would be a game changer for somebody like him.

The police do not care about what was stolen and aren't going to be that thorough with the crime scene unless you are talking about someone who is rich, famous, or a politician. It has taken me a while but I now know where I have heard the "Nothing on one, a little click on two......."
    Sitting in my Dentist Chair.
    That aside, from Scotland and Spain, love the videos, learnt so much.
    I had played a bit in the past when at work with silly cupboard locks and just loved the reactions when was able to open someone's "mislaid my key" draw or cupboard as if I was a magician and then the, Oh!, my!, how? why did you learn that. It was wonderful.

    Thank you so much for making this video! It just saved me a lot of time/hassle in re-keying a new lock!
    After seeing it, I bought three of these (SC4, AM5, and M1/MS2) though never really got around to getting good at them. I've used decoders before (for the tubular locks) but just hadn't spent the time getting good at picking locks with spools and didn't need these for locks without them.
    Until today. My sister purchased some more locks for her new apartment and I was re-keying them to our family's master-key system. However, one of the deadbolts came with the wrong keys in the box..
    No problem! Pulled out the SC4 decoder, opened the cylinder once, then promptly disassembled it. This saved me so-unbelievably-much time.
    Also my first time "picking" a cylinder with spools, though the purist in me doesn't quite buy that this is picking (but I did at least /feel/ the spools distinctly, which is more than I've done before).
    So again, thank you for making this video and letting me know these exist! Even if it did take a year for me to actually get around to using it!

      Would you expect a quality control manager to make a higher quality product?
      LPL figures out the flaws of a product and he does so without getting paid by the manufacturer. It should be up to the manufacturer to take notes and make better locks.

    • @MZ-nw7wz
      @MZ-nw7wz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@CanIHasThisName What you are doing is referring to the world we "should" live in, not the world we "do" live in. Why would a quality control manager be watching a video about this lock being defeated vs. testing the individual components that the factory is producing? There's a big jump in your understanding of what a QC person does in their role and some added things that a QC manager could do to be the very very very best QC manager possible in the history of QC managers. And on top of that it's really your opinion of what the very very very best QC manager should do, even if he did this, would it actually cause a cascading effect inside of a company to spend millions of dollars to re-engineer machinery to implement the findings of the QC manager?

    • @CanIHasThisName
      @CanIHasThisName 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@MZ-nw7wz I did not at any point imply QC manager is supposed to be watching this video. QC manager's job is to verify tolerances and find flaws/defects, not make a better product. It's manufacturing that's supposed to make the product and improve/fix the product based on the findings of QC.
      LPL picks locks and looks for their flaws. He's not a manufacturer. It should be the manufacturer's interest to keep track of how their security measures were defeated and some manufacturers did indeed do just that. That is improved their product based on LPL's findings.
