I learned about the hammered dulcimer, as it was the instrument played at the funeral of a dear friend of mine a couple of years ago, and it has since been one of the saddest and sweetest instrument to my ear. I rejoice that my friend is with Jesus now, and I rejoice that I will be too, one day. Praise God

Fantastic piece. 😊. Hearing this instrument reminds me of one of my personal favorite Christian musician by the name of Rich Mullins. He was known in the 80s and 90s and he also used a hammer dulcimer as well.

Please keep posting these instrumental worship videos. It's sucha blessing. I love instrumental improvisational music and love handpan and hammered dulcimer but most of the tunes on the net are too new agey. And I'm sure the pure spiritual background does make a difference. So I just love these.

The (hammered) dulcimer is a psaltery. In this case, it is played in an enchantble way. If the strings are vertical, we have the cither, that cannot be hammered, but played by the fingers. The resultant sound will be slower, but even sweeter.
