"The Orchestral Suite in G minor BWV 1070 wasn’t written by Bach. Yet the suite got a BWV number by the makers of the Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis. Who did compose this piece is unknown, but the style of the piece fits very well with the young Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Bach’s son." I'm quoting the description here, because apparantly most people don't read the descriptions 🥳
Wow, I'd never heard of this Suite until today! Not only is NBS good at bringing Bach to life, but it also makes you rediscover exquisite works you might not normally have heard of. Brilliant!!! It would be interesting to listen the NBS playing works by C.P.E. Bach, J.C. Bach, J.C.F Bach, Bernhard Bach etc...
@@Ennah08 Yes, I did read the description but thank you for reminding it! I was thinking it would be interesting if NBS could also record works by CPE Bach, JC, JCF etc...
Wish there was a Neue Bach Ausgabe Volume of this to put on IMSLP, but supposedly its only in the Critical Commentary Volume of Series VI Band 5 but that won't be eligible for many decades, but I already have everything uploaded of the edition through 1999 on there right now regardless.
A masterful performance and the music sounds fresh - stylistically it is definitely not J.S. Bach and it is great that we are hearing more of the Bach sons or their contemporaries ❤
Just curious, are there pieces of Bach’s works that you all haven’t gotten to yet? I know it’s a vast catalog. And if so, what are you most excited to perform someday? By the way, this is lovely, as ever, thank you.
Didn't read the description, and was like, "what is this...? was he like, bored that day and just experimenting aimlessly?" read the description, made sense. Except for a couple of the cadences including the capriccio, and a few subtle moments on the harpsichord this whole thing just felt like, if you asked someone to write a piece like bach but make it as dull as some of william byrd's work
Is Mr Cicic now the new artistic director, concertmaster(and soloist?)of the Netherlands Bach Society? The description of this video said he is ‘violin and direction’ 🤔 Incredible performance as usual 😌
Feels sloppily played at the start. Unclear if Bojan is directing. Glad to see them recording this but does not rival the MAK recording on DG Archive. Feels like a sight reading without strong interpretive direction. As usual, all musicians are technically secure; but thinking I miss Shunske!
Wow. Where did this one come from? While most scholars agree, that Bach wrote more than four orchestral suites, the others were lost during World War II.
This didn’t sound like Bach.. I was shocked when I first heard it, since it didn’t sound like Bach at all.. and then I’m glad I read the description 😅.. So I was right after all..
0:08 Larghetto
3:38 Un poco Allegro
6:06 Torneo
7:22 Adagio
10:22 Menuetto alternativo
11:34 Trio
13:46 Capriccio
Espléndidamente 🌞 ❤❤ 👏👏

Whoever wrote this work did a splendid job; and so did you playing it.
Bravo - a most enjoyable spirited performance; thank you so much.

The "Orchestral Suites" are sometimes called "Ouvertures" as well, 😉.
As stated in the description, probably written by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Bach’s eldest son.

Pura vida hermano, Bendiciones!
Aquí oyendo a los mejores de los mejores desde Grecia, C.R. también!
Amazing. By whomever is was written…. Perhaps WF Bach… it is fascinating and wonderfully played.
Wonderful!

Beaucoup de nouveaux membres parmi les musiciens aussi, et sur les visages je ne lis pas le plaisir habituel de jouer ensemble 😕
@@jeanyves35800 not only Mr Sato left, but it seems like the usual violin ensemble leader, Ms Emily Deans, is gone as well…

Beautiful music. Interesting set though. Were you guys in a bond villians secret lair?
Well it's by Bach after all
