Respect, I also own a small business - this is super relatable. You're being super transparent, and you can't not respect that. Thanks for the content.
keep stacking cash it will help you scale if one day you decide that's what you want to do. I worked in sales for a commercial concrete company and moved into a finance role and saw how quickly they scaled from 15 employees to 60 employees after they had $1M in the bank. They hired experienced superintendents, foreman, and labor. They were able to go out and finance new work trucks, machinery, and tools to help scale. It wasn't what the owner of the company wanted but the team pushed him to do it because they all saw a great future for themselves and their families. They now generate around $25M/yr and the company is thriving. Everyone is happy and loves showing up to work!! I commented because my boss (the owner) reminded me of you and was one of the coolest guys I have ever worked for. He cared more about his employees (or the team as he put it) than himself.
this was a good video man. i want to become a plumber and start my own company one day too. im bout to have my first child. you being very transparent puts things into perspective
@@bairdtinkey3492 why do people always think that in plumbing you’ll be dealing with a lot of shit haha that’s I how I know you have no idea what you’re talking about
Good video man ! I'm always trying to see what other smaller plumbing/ bathroom remodeling companies charge / make to try and gauge where I'm at and or should be. I like this video over alpt of the other ones because I can tell you're being real and not trying to flex like many people do then you can't tell if they really are doing that good or just blowing smoke lol.
I love how real you are brother. I subscribed immediately. I’m a small residential service plumber (you probably think I’m gay). I started my business almost 2 years ago with literally no money. I was working out of my pick up truck for the first three months until I saved up enough for a down payment to buy a used 2019 work van. This was 2022. I now have an employee, and I’m quickly, realizing how scary this shit can be knowing that not only do I have to provide for my family, but now I gotta provide for this guy as well. My first full year I did $230,000 Revenue. I’m expecting $300,00-320,000 this year. I’d like to make a move into commercial jobs as I don’t have any yet. I mostly get jobs from Facebook or my one property management company that’s about %20 of my revenue. I also have a house flipper I roll with 3 full house remodels(gas, drains, water piping). Word of mouth is huge for me too. Any advice on snagging a commercial gig or two so I can get that repeat $$$ you’re talking about. Thanks for your time. I know how busy I am with just me and my guy, so I can only imagine how busy you are.
A lot of the commercial work I get kind of fell in my lap because I was a supervisor for a mechanical company for so long. I had a really good reputation in Dallas as a problem solver and a lot of people called me as soon as I got going. it’s been a lot of word-of-mouth for me as well though in commercial. I got hooked up with one really large general contractor building engineers at a university recommended me as a quality plumber to hire for their jobs. It’s been a bunch of shit like that. I didn’t realize when I was busting my ass for other other companies that I was building up my résumé and client list but I was. I was forced to hire and expand because I did over $1 million in revenue in the first seven months I was open. In February we did 180 K in revenue. But that comes for me doing so many construction jobs that are six-figure jobs. When it comes to just pure service it’s pretty hard I think to grow. That’s why I incorporated construction so early on. I found out I can get projects that would float guys for a month at a time that I could also pull off of to help me with service projects. But at this point, I’ve got to where I tell customers I’ll do service work for them but I won’t do drain cleaning. Since I’m hooked up with so many buildings through construction, that’s added a whole other level of service for me. I’ve also got a couple hook ups from my vendors at the supply house. I always fuck around with those guys and they like me a lot so they’ve recommended a lot of people to me. Including one of my biggest customers.
Run Business tight now so you can relax later in life. Always remember shtf every once in a while. Better to have cash on hand then to rely on a loan or credit!
I’m a 1 man band, I often wonder if I should grow the business but it seams like I would need two to three licensed guys to make the money worth it. Always had enough call volume to feed a few more guys but was always too scared or unsure to make the step to the next level. I do residential service and reno’s. Have years of commercial and residential experience.
Yeah, you really do need good guys. I’ve got an awesome crew. I was nervous as shit every time I hired a new guy and expanded but it’s lead to some really big rewards. It’s stressful as all shit now that my payroll is 10 to 12 K a week and I spend about 50,000 a month or better at supply houses. My expenses are over $1 million a year. I got a lot of people counting on me and at times I think it would be better to just scale down to just me but I kind of blew it up right out of the gate so I only flew solo for about 6 weeks. By 3 months in I already hired 4 guys. In all honesty, though it may be six in one hand, and half a dozen in the other. It’s probably an equal amount of bullshit Either way you go.

How do you bid a job? I do 500$ an opening new construction, 1000$ an opening remodel with no concrete , 1500 an opening for remodel with concrete. The dishwasher and refrigerator lines are freebies.
The way I do it is I get a fixture count first. I figure $1000 per sink, $1750 for one hole bathroom, and then over estimate the price of water heaters, drinking fountains, shit like that. And that’s just what I figure as my material cost for fixtures. Then I figure my materials, insulation, specialty tools, equipment, rentals, subcontractors, PPE, plastic and shit like that. Once I have the total for all my materials and fixtures, I’ll then figure my labor. I figure how long I think it’s gonna take me to do the job on each phase. I overestimate by a day or two on every phase. I figure $1100 is my cost for a three man crew. I figure that cost at $1700 for overtime or weekends. Great video, im from australia, just about to dive into a plumbing business, trying to figure out if better to get a business loan for ute/van and some other business stuff or pay cash and less and have less or no business loan, waiting to speak to accountant shortly
Sorry it took me so long to reply. after videos get a little older they don’t let me know when people comment. I personally don’t think it’s a good idea to get a loan with these high interest rates. One of the vans I financed I had a 19% interest rate on. After that, I’ve only bought all of the vehicles cash. The truck I used to start my business I paid 7000 cash for outside of that I had $10,000. And with that $10,000 I was able to get my website set up, LLC, necessary, tools, etc. I hit the ground running from there and it took about a week and a half before I was busier than a Christmas sweater. I definitely don’t think I would’ve wanted to have any extra payments early on. I’m coming up on a year and I’m about to buy my sixth and seventh vehicle cash. So I still don’t want to do loans even though I’m bringing in over 200 K a month now.
@@brasshouse-fireball appreciate the reply, im torn as i want to keep cash in back pocket just incase... my thinking is a 20k loan for ute/van but yeah interest rates are fucked.. in australia i think ours are around 10-15%

Idk I think it would be much better to run your own plumbing business and make 96k a year rather than slaving away at a company for 6 figures. Idk some people like to be self-employed others prefer a 9-5, to each their own.
Don’t stay small. Grow. As tradesmen we undervalue ourselves because we operate from fear. It’s not fkin gay to give your family a great life and buy nice things and secure a future. Tradesmen seem to think we’re doing something wrong by charging what we actually need to charge and that if we charge just a little less than the next guy we can secure more work. It’s not how it works. Set up systems, get the software, add in your profit and start marketing. It’s less gay to be someone who creates jobs provides for families and changes lives.
No one can undercut you for long mate. There’s a certain number you have to be at or you’re going out of business. I hope more people do open their own businesses. It’ll help me out.
Hey my brother has 1 year residential experience and 1 year commercial. He’s out of garland TX. He needs a job rn and is sick with the plumbing if your looking for a great employee.

Sounds like youre not charging enough? Love the video. Disgusting how much big city service companies charge
@@mackhughson3722 I don’t think I was charging enough when I made this video.
Hey! How about a video with some guitar playing? Let’s see how your real rig sounds?
I wouldn’t want to do that to y’all lol
Where are you located? I heard downtown Dallas for some jobs but was curious.
We are all over DFW. My shop is like 30 minutes south of Dallas.
You remind me of my old boss named billy when he first started his fiber optic company…lol business owners really wreck their brains sometimes with all the stress
Smells familiar u remind me with my cigg much love God going bless
LOVE THE VID! WHATS THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB WHEN IT COMES TO THE JOBS YOU DO
Fixtures are the hardest part. Getting all of the sinks and faucets on time. And making sure we are roughed in properly for each fixture.
The absolute Man.
Thanks for the vid man
Sitting in my garage, chain smoking, just fuckin drained from my own business shit. Go on youtube and find a man, sitting in his garage, chain smoking, stressing about business shit. What a coincidence. Your doing good with the company, atleast in my opinion. Youll figure the shit out, you got the gift of the bullshit.
Question? Why wouldn’t you consider to do residential if your guys can handle commercial work, it sound be cake for them boys
Respect to you brother
It's F'ing GAY. I'd be friends with this guy lol
Pro press has one key, yours didnt?
Never set it up
I just started medical school at age 28
who cares man
2000 a week but how much profit does the business have too?
Probably like an extra 10-20k/ month
Bro, that was the most honest real video I’ve seen on TH-cam, find myself sitting in the garage smoking one after dealing with service calls all day myself. And yea I agree residential is extremely gay!
Mind if I ask what state you are in?
Texas.
2000$ a week? Thats only 96k a year, sounds like you grew up poor... IT folk make anywhere from 100k to 150k for much cushier jobs.
@brasshouse-fireball - owns a business he’s a gangster that’s gonna scale up and make the profit of 20 IT goods bundled in one lol
@alanturing5737 - you’re a goof the company you work for is a “business” you’re a wage slave
Brasshouse im a gen z and im telling you, you’re in the top 10 percent. Having the setup/foundation is what it’s all about, it doesn’t matter how long it takes to scale up as long as it happens one day. you’re already making wayyyy more than all the friends I have in engineering especially cause I’m in Canada, you’re making more US bucks than my buddies with degrees lol not to mention the potential tax cuts you can get with running a business and the limits on your business line of credit are way more than any of these salaried employees will ever get access too lol. A salary is a salary it stays the same but a frickn business you can scale it up as high as you want you could even sell your business now and go make another company lol. If a salaried employee does intentional bankruptcy the max they’ll pull is 300k, your company the way I see it now could pull bankruptcy for a million if you scaled it just a little more and maxed all your credit out according to the banks view on the “value of your company” they increase your limits. That’s why Trump has so many lawsuits that’s why all these rich people buy and sell businesses it’s all organized tax breaks and bankruptcy’s back to back. Some dumb sheep in IT can’t even view shit like this. These people hating on you swearing are just people your age who don’t even make half of what you do so they’re lowkey hating. Ignore the haters and scale brother. You’re an idol. Please post more content
IT folks that work for “businesses”????
@@PinnaclePlumbingAndDrains you should check out some of my more current videos. It’s been a lot of ups and downs but we are quite a bit bigger now.
So your business account is stuck at 30-80k? Or you’re putting in 30-80k a month?
Six figures once and we’ve been under 30 a couple times. But I get really uncomfortable if it’s below 30.
Never knew Doug Stanhope was a plumber!
@@nodgelyobo1 not bad, I’ve been called worse lol.
I am on the same spot
It’s not a bad place to be lol
Make sure to get everyone's hopes up so they'll flood the market and cut in to your profits. All for some yt views.
This is gold 😂
👍👍
Lol it’s personal he says after spewing all his business finances. Be humble man .. Should you be putting this all out there for your clients to hear? I think your hilarious. Not sure how came across this
not much worry about my customer seeing this. This is a very under the radar channel Lol.
Hater
The IRS has entered the chat.
I pay taxes lol.
Absolutely disgusting. Who seriously makes a video and smokes at the same time! Ridiculous!
Damn brother, tell me how you really feel. 😂
Too much swearing. Goodbye.
@@finallyfriday. oh no! What ever shall I do? Some sissy doesn’t want to watch my videos, I’m ruined 😂
@brasshouse-og Take it easy, sister. I don't care, why do you feel so strongly about a person you don't know? Time to grow up.
@ no, I’ve decided I don’t want to do TH-cam anymore so now I can talk shit to any of you soft boys without any fear of reprisal against my channel. They can burn the fucker down for all I care. But on my way out I’m calling all you pussies, pussies.
@brasshouse-og You Kamala queens lose your minds when someone doesn't completely agree with you and blow smoke up your skirts. I guess the stress of running your own piddly little company is too stressful- good you quit, now go work for someone else.
@finallyfriday.

Rambling into internet doesn’t help
Nah, you liked it.
Stay small
That’s not bad advice. Figure I’ll swing the bat and see if I can’t hit a home run while I’m still young and stronger than a car salesman cologne. When I get old a tired I’ll go the safe route.
